Preparation and Curing Behavior of Polyurethane Coatings by Polyester/Lactone Polyol and HDI-biuret (폴리에스테르/락톤 폴리올과 HDI-Biuret에 의한 폴리우레탄 도료의 제조 및 경화거동)

  • Benzoic acid polyester/lactone polyol were synthesized by polycaprolactone 0201 as diol, trimethylolpropane as triol, adipic acid as dibasic acid, and benzoic acid as monobasic acid. Polyisocyanate prepolymer Desmodur N-100 of HDI-biuret type was used in this study. Two-component polyurethane coatings were prepared by blending benzoic acid polyester/polycaprolactone, polyisocyanate, wetting/dispersing agent, white pigment, and flowing agent. Various properties were examined on the film coated with the prepared polyurethane. They showed excellent physical properties such as abrasion resistance, accelerated weathering resistance, and yellowness index. They also showed good physical properties such as flexibility, impact resistance, 60$^{\circ}$ specular gloss, cross hatch adhesion, hydrocarbon resistance, and lightness index difference. Hardness of coating showed a little poor character. The introduction of polycaprolactone 0201 as diol in the polyurethane coatings improved the hydrocarbon resistance, impact resistance, and flexibility of coatings. According to the drying and curing behavior with the contents of benzoic acid, they seem to have reasonable coating properties such as drying time of 2 to 4 hours and pot-life time of 20 to 37 hours.

Comparison of Effective Constituents of Korean Paeony Roots(Paeoniae radix) Cultivated in Different Regions (한국산 작약의 산지별 유효성분 비교)

  • To compare the contents of well-known effective constituents, paeoniflorin, albiflorin and benzoic acid, of Korean paeony roots cultivated at different regions, this study was to provide the basic information for the quality evaluation of paeony roots. HPLC analysis showed that the paeoniflorin contents of white paeony roots of 3 years grown at Eui-seong gun, Kyungpook was the highest of 2.06% and red paeony roots of 3 years grown at Im-sil gun, Junpook was the lowest of 1.33%. The highest level of albiflorin contents was 2.04% of red paeony root grown at Ul-jin gun, Kyungpook, while the lowest levels were 0.05% of Eui-seong gun, Kyungpook and 0.06% of Im-shil gun, Junpook. The highest level of benzoic acid contents was 0.12% of red paony roots grown at Choung-do gun, Kyungpook and that grown at Ul-jin gun, Kyungpook was the lowest. Based on the average of three available constituents, the paeony roots cultivated at Kyungpook province was the highest contents of 2.03%, while 1.47% at Junpook province. These results suggest that Kyungpook province is the best region for the cultivation of white and red paeony roots, the combining of three available constituents would be more accurate than use of paeoniflorin only.

Analysis of the Degradation Products of Turmeric using GC-MS (GC-MS법을 이용한 울금의 퇴화물 분석)

  • Degradation products of the dye extracted from turmeric and the turmeric dyed textiles were examined by using GC-MS after 100 oven (OV) and $H_2O_2/UV/O_2$(PER) treatments for up to 28 days. Throughout the OV degradation times, 2-propenoic acid, 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)- was found consistently, while isovanillin, and vanillic acid were newly detected. In 28 day PER degradation sample, feruloylmethane, 2-propenoic acid, 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-, benzoic acid, and vanillic acid were detected as well as isovanillin. Feruloylrnethane, and 2-propenoic acid, 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)- were detected from the degraded fabric samples. With the absence of curcuminoids in the GC-MS result, the decreasing pattern of 2-propenoic acid, 3-(2-hydrokyphenyl)- reflect the degradation of curcuminoids in turmeric extraction with the progression of OV degradation times. It is suggested that isovanillin, feruloylmethane, 2-propenoic acid,3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-, and vanillic acid are the probable fingerprint products for determining the turmeric dye from the badly faded archaeological textiles.

도정도를 달리한 백미 및 미강에 함유된 phenolic acids와 총 폴리페놀 함량

  • 최근 쌀 소비량이 감소되고 쌀중심 식생활의 영양적 우수성을 인식하지 못하여 쌀은 주식으로서 위치가 흔들리고 있다. 그동안 쌀의 영양특성에 관한 연구로서 주로 탄수화물 급원으로서의 당질에 관한 연구와 미강을 중심으로한 식이섬유, 미강유등에 관한 연구결과들이 발표되었다. 특히 미곡 부산물인 미강으로부터 다양한 유효성분들이 확인되어 그 효능이 보고되고 있으며 일부가 기능성 소재로서 제품화되기도 하였다. 그러나 실제 우리의 식생활에서 섭취되고 있는 백미 또는 현미상태에서의 유효성분의 분포 및 함량에 대한 연구는 미진한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 쌀의 영양적우수성을 규명하고자 유효성분 중 phenolic acid와 폴리페놀 함량을 품종 및 도정도에 따라 조사하였다. 조생종인 오대와 만생종인 남평 품종으로부터 현미와 7분도, 10분도 및 12분도로 도정도를 달리한 백미, 도정도별 미강을 각각 제조하였다. Ferulic acid 등 쌀과 미강에 존재하는 phenolic acid 는 알칼리로 추출한 후 pH를 조정하고 에틸아세테이트로 반복 추출하여 HPLC로 분석하였다. 현미에 함유된 phenolic acid는 ferulic acid가 가장 많아 50% 내외를 차지하였으며 p-coumaric acid, benzoic acid, sinapinic acid 순으로 검출되었다. 오대 현미의 총 phenolic acid 함량은 65.9 mg%로서 남평 현미의 57.2 mg%보다 높았으며 도정도가 증가할수록 백미 중의 총 phenolic acid 함량은 감소되었다. 미강 중에는 백미의 10배 량에 해당하는 phenolic acid가 검출되었고 benzoic acid와 m-hydroxy benzoic acid는 미강 시료에서만 검출되었다. 도정한 백미 중의 phenolic acid는 28.8∼51.7 mg%, 미강에서 321.4∼438.4 mg% 범위로 나타났다. 현미, 백미 및 미강에 함유된 총 폴리페놀의 함량을 표준 페놀화합물로 카테친을 사용하고 비색법에 의하여 측정하였을 때 오대 현미의 폴리페놀 함량은 78.4 mg%, 남평 현미 88.8 mg% 였다. 도정한 백미 중의 총 폴리페놀 함량은 30.3∼56.9 mg%, 미강이 541.5∼472.6 mg%의 범위였다. 이상과 같이 쌀에는 phenolic acid 및 총 폴리페놀이 상당량 함유되어 있으며 특히 배유보다는 강층에 많이 존재하므로 이들 성분의 효율적인 이용을 위한 쌀의 섭취방안이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

Bioactive Component Content as Affected by Different Drying Condition in Peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) Root (건조처리 조건에 따른 작약근 생리활성 성분 함량 변화)

  • This experiment was conducted to know the changes of bioactive component content in four-year-old peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) root with various drying methods such as room temperature drying, $50^{\circ}C$ heat-air drying, room temperature drying after $80^{\circ}C$ boiling water treatment and freeze drying, and to establish the optimum drying method for high quality production of Paeoniae Radix. For this purpose, the contents of paeoniflorin, albiflorin and five phenolic compounds (gallic acid, benzoic acid, (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin and (+)-taxifolin 3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside) in peony root with different drying methods were analyzed by RP-HPLC. The contents of paeoniflorin, albiflorin and (+)-taxifolin 3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside at room temperature drying were higher than in the other drying methods and that of gallic acid at 8$0^{\circ}C$ boiling water treatment was the highest among that of all drying methods. In the case of freeze drying, the contents of (+)-catechin, benzoic acid and (-)-epicatechin were the highest among those of all drying methods. As increase of drying and treatment temperature, the contents of paeoniflorin, albiflorin, (+)-taxifolin 3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyrano-side, (+)-catechin and benzoic acid were decreased.

A convenient synthesis of Fenpyroximate (펜피록시메이트의 새로운 제조방법)

  • Fenpyroximate was prepared by Williamson synthesis of 4-hydroxyimino-5-phenoxypyrazole and t-butyl 4-bromomethyl benzoate, while an efficient method for the synthesis of t-butyl benzoate still remains a challenging problem. We have found that t-butyl benzoate could be prepared from benzoic acid by the sulfuric acid-catalyzed reaction with isobutene via in situ generation from t-butanol. It has been proven that this process is more convenient for the preparation of t-butyl 4-bromobenzoate, thus allows a facile entry to fenpyroximate.

The Cell Regenerative Effect of Benzoic Acid Derivatives Against Chomium Trioxide-Induced Cytotoxicity (벤조산 유도체의 Chromium Trioxide 독성에 대한 세포 재생효과)

  • In order to evaluate the cytotoxicity of chromium trioxide, and the cell regenerative effect of phenolic acid against chromium trioxide-induced cytotoxicity, cell viability, cell adhesion activity, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, and morphological changes of cells were performed in these cultures. The toxicity of chromium trioxide (${IC}_{50}$, 44.0 ${\mu}M$) was high according to the toxic criteria. Cell regeneration of benzoic acid derivatives against ${IC}_{50}$ value of chromium trioxide in cell morphology was increased in concentration-dependent manner. These results suggest that benzoic acid derivatives may be used as a cell regenerative agent against chromium-mediated cytotoxicity.

  • 1) For the micro-analysis of mercury in plant materials, the method of Furutani was shown to be the simplest and most efficient way and the recovery of the assay was about 98%. 2) When the rice grain was soaked in 1/1000 diluted solution of organo-mercury fungicide for 8 hours at the end of March, the amounts of mercury residues in the brown rice and unhulled rice were 8.8 to $9.5\;{\mu}g/g$ seeds and 10.1 to $10.7\;{\mu}g/g$ seeds, respectively. 3) By washing the treated rice seeds with running water for three days, tile residual mercury concentration was reduced to 1/4 to 1/5; thus the mercury residues were 1.86 to $1.92\;{\mu}g/g$ for brown rice and 1.96 to $2.93\;{\mu}g/g$ for unhulled rice. 4) The residual mercury was present more in the unhulled rice than in the brown rice, either before or after washing of the treated seeds. 5) Among the different rice varieties, no difference was observed in mercury residues by seed treatment and washing.

  • Direct preparative method of 2,6-diformyl-p-cresol and 2-hydroxy-3-hydroxy-5-methylbenzaldehyde from 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)-4-methylphenol using activated $Mn(IV)O_2$ was described. Hexadentate compartmental Iigands, $H_4L[A]\;and\; H_4L[B]$ were prepared by condensation reactions of 2-hydroxy-3-hydroxy methyl-5-methylbenzaldehyde with ethylenediamine and 1,3-diaminopropane respectively. By the reaction of macrocycle($H_4[20]DOTA$) with Ln(III) nitrate {Ln(III)=Pr, Sm, Cd, Dy }, discrete mononuclear Ln(III) complexes of the type $[Ln(H_2[20]DOTA)(ClO_4)(H_2O)]\;{\cdot}\;3H_2O$ were synthesized in the solid state. $[Ln([20]DOTA)(NO_3)(H_2O)](NO_3)_2\;{\cdot}\;xH_2O$ was placed in methanol for 2 days, and $[Ln([20]DOTA)(NO_3)(CH_3OH)]^{2+}$ was formed. The equilibrium constants(K) for the substitution of coordinated $CH_3OH$ in the Ln-[20]DOTA complexes by various auxiliary ligand, $L_a$(=salicylic acid, p-chlorobenzoic acid, benzoic acid, acetic acid, 4-bromophenol) were determined spectroscopically at 25$^{\circ}C$ and 0.1M $NaClO_4$. The K values calculated were in the order of salicylic acid > p-chlorobenzoic acid > benzoic acid > acetic acid > 4-bromophenol, while pKa of auxiliary ligands was in the opposite trend.
