  • The purpose of this study was to confirm how the students have responded to their class according to STEB (science teaching efficacy belief) of secondary science teacher in astronomy classes. Middle school teachers in charge of 'The Solar System' and 'The Exosphere and Space Development' in the 2009 Revision Science Curriculum content system is selected as an object of study through random sampling method. Twenty-nine teachers were taken STEB questionnaire and asked to make it out. Twenty-seven completed a questionnaire of them is selected for this study. In addition, the top and bottom 5% selected through frequency analysis with the total score from the questionnaire were regarded as high and low STEB teachers. For data collection, this study was used methods such as semi-structured interviews, recording, participant observation. The results were as follows: First, science teachers of high STEB had a high accessibility about excellent professional knowledge and content of the curriculum relating to astronomical field. Second, high STEB teachers were prepared by the appropriate teaching strategies adequate to student-centered learning, whereas the low STEB teachers totally have had teacher-centered learning. Third, high STEB teachers had been provided as the idea that you can take advantage of a variety of instruments, as well as scientific knowledge through the Astronomical Society. Therefore, confidence in astronomical class and teaching strategies through content of the curriculum were very important variables to predict the STEB as well as astronomy-related class activities such as astronomical observations.

  • The purpose of this study is to look for the basic formative elements of housekeeping space of our cultural life which are worthy to succeed and develop by revaluating in modern view and to reveal what we should maintain form the women's view of the housework in those days. In this study, out look on Chosun Dynasty housekeeping is based on the norm of the women in those days. The research on the housekeeping space for norm of the women in those days. the research on the housekeeping space for Chosun Dynasty upperclass is focused on the house built from early till late Chosun Dynasty, which is now a cultural asset. As a result, norm of Chosun Dynasty have created a social wide atmosphere for women to devote herselves to the housekeeping. Moreover the constructions of Chosun Dynasty's upperclass are affected by Korea's natural environment and socio-cultural environment. Primary factors for natural environment are building materials and the change of seasons. Because of changeable seasons, there were places for storing massive commodities. The other primary factors for socio-cultural environment affecting housekeeping space were social positions, and extended family system, worshipping the ancestors standard of living, the theory of“Poong Soo”(風水, a kind of geomancy) and thought of“Yin and Yang, Five Elements”(陰陽五行) and popular belief of that time. Affected by these two environments, the characteristics of housekeeping space for Chosun Dynasty are ; the main building of the house was used as a diverted area for women to work, and was reconstructed for household affairs. There were inefficient points in the housekeeping space of that time and the space remained stagnant because of the restricted sex and the social position of housekeeping doer. But you could find some points that are efficient and functional to adjust in those living conditions. The storehouse, storage barn, shed and soyjar terrace are the specialized storing place, according to the kinds and characteristics of the commodities. the kitchen, for example, is the combinations of many abilities. It is not only for cooking or heating the room, but also for storing drinking water. The hall which was the storing place, housekeeping place and also the place for family events are used as a diverted place. The linked arrangement of kitchen, store house, boudoir and the other rooms. In addition, we can see that the construction of the kitchen for more than tow people could work in.

  • This study intends to analyze the various spatial structures and characteristics of the museum based on the two of the Renzo Piano's recent projects Menil Collection '||'&'||' Museum and Beyeler Foundation Museum Which defined the direction of the "Third Generation" in museum architecture with reference to the quality of spatial experience and design applications. Comparison and analysis were done on the basic spatial organization floor layout accessibility exhibition area lighting plan and circulation between the two museum. Through the itemized common characteristics of the museum the architect's proposal on meaning and direction of the new museum architecture can be viewed. The contemporary museums distinguish themselves quite clearly from their predecessors and this applies both to their own form and to their spatial organization. As the public demands and requests toward the museum building facility expand everyday the architect must respond by providing multiple types of space where people can experience different atmosphere in each area. One concept he used to create multi experienced area was manipulation of the natural light using by the state-of-the-art techniques of the light filtering system and multi-layering roof system to protect the valuable collections against the direct sunlight. But mainly it was to prove his strong belief in "architecture of light" by creating space with minimized meaning by purposely distinguished area in order to provide maximum support to the physical value of the collection " The connection with nature" is another concept which Piano used to provide the public a tranquil experience through out the architecture which engages in a lively dialogue with art. In spatial organization Piano concerned on functionality which not only concentrated on the visitor's point of view but also on the museum staff's comfort. Unlkie the traditional museum he alternates various size of exhibition areas for spatial hierarchy. Specially the spatial flexibility that the temporary exhibition areas are able to be expanded to the permanent exhibition areas by adjoining t재 spaces differentiate Piano's new museum from the rest. museum from the rest.

  • Adolf Loos and Hiroshi Hara are very well known for their distinctive method of spatial composition. Adolf Loos showed white silent outer facades from his strong aversion to the ornament, whereas dynamic and rich inner space by the principle called 'Raumplan' in his housing design. Hiroshi Hara, one of the most influential architects in modern Japanese architectural history, designed a series of controversial houses with radical design by his 'Yukotai Theory' and the thought of 'Reflection House'. Even they have no common in regional background or the period of their works, both similarly have shown their own focus on cladding surface as an important design language. From this point of view, this paper investigates the design method of those two architects focused on the similar points and also the differences of their approaches to cladding in housing design. In conclusion, in case of Adolf Loos, the cladding is a tool to create completely safe and pure inner space by separating from the outside. On the other hand, the cladding of Hiroshi Hara has the meaning of social ideology that individuals must follow the principles of a dominant structure, which is the reason why the cladding should be removed. However there exists something in common also. They radically denied the outer circumstances and had a firm belief that the requests from the inside living space were the more influential factors.

  • Due to the belief that housing for university students is uniform materialistic and non-human, a variety of needs and preferences of the residents is becoming more important. In order to more positively identify the user's emotional needs, a design that meets the needs of the resident's living space is absolutely necessary. The purpose of this study is to group the sensibility types of university students, to analyze the preferred interior image and interior design elements, and then to understand the preferred characteristics according to sensibility type. To collect the data, a survey method was used for 224 university students in Seoul and the metropolitan area. The data analysis used SPSS PC 14.0 to find the frequency, t-test, chi-square, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, sensibility types were segmented into four groups including 'Unique & Elegant', 'Static & Tidy', 'Warm & Comfortable', and 'Characteristic & Free'. Second, the preferred interior image was the Minimal-Dandy-Natural Image, the preferred floor_material was wood, and the preferred wall_material was marble. Third, there were different interior preferences according to each type of gender & sensibility.

  • Contrary to the common belief, DRAM which is used for the main memory of various computing devices retains its content even though it is powered-off. Especially, the data-retaining time can increase if DRAM is cooled down. The Cold Boot Attack, a kind of side-channel attacks, tries to recover the sensitive information such as the cryptographic key from the powered-off DRAM. This paper proposes a new algorithm which recovers the AES key under the symmetric-decay cold-boot-attack model. In particular, the proposed algorithm uses the strategy of reducing the size of the candidate key space by testing the randomness of the extracted AES key bit stream.

  • This research investigated the motivation and interests of a sample of predominately-underrepresented populations to better understand whether informal STEM learning experiences offer support for developing STEM identities. A valid and reliable three-section self-reporting survey was administered to 169 secondary students as the primary data source. Identity was used as a theoretical lens along with descriptive statistics to reveal students' perceived benefits of the informal STEM learning experience, a Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program in the western U.S., for improving their understanding of science, mathematics, and engineering concepts, increasing their interest in science, mathematics, and engineering careers, and increasing their belief of the importance of these STEM disciplines. In summary, the findings emerging, considered alongside current identity research, suggest that informal STEM learning experiences offer students from underrepresented STEM populations the space needed for successful STEM identity bids, either for future career pursuits or participation in a STEM literate populace as a non-STEM professional societal member.

  • The Purpose of the study is to identify the aesthetic of anxiety and horror in Roman Polanski's films, focusing on , , and . Polanski's films, of which main concern lies in veritable human under the circumstance of the closed space which is stained violence and horror, present a tendency of instability and brute force in the same age and individual's enervation and solitude isolated from the value of society. Eventually, it steadily deals with the origin horror of being. In this study, I analyzed Polanski's special feature of directing centering on three facters, such as visual storytelling, space design of isolation and enervation, and accompanying sight as a visual point of suspense. The style of Polanski's films, based on the classical priciple for suspense construction and variegated image making, shows that the incapable individual's awkward suffered in the closed circumstance, the strength of horror from the unknowable outside, and human's belief broken by brutal violence. These commonly connect to the theme of Roman Polanski's films.

  • This study was to understand the components that influence preservice elementary teachers' mental models about 'astronomical phenomena' such as the Seasons of the year, and the Lunar Phases of the month. We selected university of education students among whom 23 were in the second you. The data collected from the paper-pencil test and individual interview with students. The results of this study show that the students had apparent synthetic Mental models, and that the distance theory, and occultation theory had most important effects on their Mental Models. It can be said that preservice elementary teachers' initial mental models of the' astronomical phenomenon' have their origin in their belief sets (specific theory) related to 'astronomical phenomenon', on the basis of which they can interpret their observations and cultural information with the constraints of a naive framework of physics. The structures and possible sources of their mental models for overcoming these synthetic mental models were also discussed.

  • This study was to understand the components that influence preservice secondary teachers' conceptions about 'seasonal changes' We selected 74 university science education students among whom 23 were in the second, 23 in the third, and 28 in the fourth year. The data collected from the paper-pencil test and individual interview with students. The results of this study show that the students had considerable apparent alternative conceptions, and that the 'distance theory' had most important effects on their alternative conceptions. It can be said that preservice secondary teachers' initial models of the seasonal change have their origin in their belief sets (specific theory) related to 'seasonal change', on the basis of which they can interpret their observations and cultural information with the constraints of a naive frame-work of physics. The structures and possible sources of their alternative conceptions for overcoming these alternative conceptions were also discussed. Implications for preservice science teacher education related to the results were discussed.
