안전 리더십 코칭 프로그램이 건설 현장 근로자들의 안전 행동에 미치는 효과 : 행동기반 안전관리(Behavior Based Safety: BBS)를 중심으로 (An Effect of Safety Leadership Coaching Program on Safety Behaviors of Construction Workers: Based on Behavior Based Safety)

  • This study examined the effect of safety leadership coaching program on managers' safety management and workers' safety behaviors in construction site. Three or four managers and about one hundred workers at each site participated in this study. Safety leadership coaching program consisted of safety leadership education, goal setting, self-monitoring and feedback on workers' safety behavior, reward for three safety management behaviors; (1) safety observations of workers safety behavior and (2) providing positive feedback on safe behavior (3) providing corrective feedback on risk behavior and daily safety education for workers. Dependent variables were the percentage of safe behaviors of workers and frequency of managers' safety management behaviors. A nonconcurrent AB multiple baseline design across settings was adopted. After baseline(A), safety leadership coaching program (B) was introduced to each site. The results showed that safety leadership coaching program was effective to increase managers' and workers' safety behaviors. These results suggest that safety leadership coaching program developed in this study would be an alternative treatment technique to improve construction safety management. In addition, the implications, limitations of this study, and future studies are discussed.

행동기반안전관리 프로그램이 안전행동, 안전 분위기 및 만족도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Behavior Based Safety Program on Safety Behavior, Safety Climate and its Satisfaction)

  • This study has performed to identify the effect of safety behavior, safety climate and its satisfaction through the Behavior Based Safety Program for 5 sites of the same Company. The study result indicated that the level of recognized safety behavior, climate and its satisfaction improved by conducting observation of worker behavior, jobsite feedback, displaying feedback chart, safety training, behavior modification committee. Additionally, the participation level of safety activity and conformity level of safety rule improved. The recognized level of safety climate improved together with recognized safety value by management, safety participation of direct boss, communication with each other to be dealt with safety matter, safety training material to be contained unsafe behavior and practical hazard, understanding and conducting safety standard. In addition, The recognized level of satisfaction improved together with safety behavior and climate. As a result, this program provided an opportunities to correct worker's unsafe behavior to safe behavior in conjunction with increasing number of observation, providing additional time to have a safety check, safety suggestion to improve work situation and a permit to work rule. It will be integrated into health and safety management system to be able to reduce industrial accident.

안전 코칭 프로그램이 안전행동과 안전 분위기에 미치는 효과 -고속도로 안전순찰원을 중심으로- (An Effect of Safety Coaching Program on Safety Behavior and Climate -Focusing on Expressway Safety Patrol-)

  • This study investigated the impact of a safety coaching program on the safety behavior and safety climate among expressway safety patrols. Four to seven patrols from each of the three branches participated in this study. The safety coaching program was developed based on the GROW model, with main contents including recognizing individual differences, exploring safety values, communicating near-misses, providing effective and efficient feedback, employing non-violent communication, and fostering commitment toward safety behaviors. Additionally, each session included self-monitoring and peer review of each item based on a critical behavior checklist developed for this study, with challenging goals set based on the monitoring and review. The safety coaching program comprised six sessions in three branches, while three other branches were assigned as a control group. A non-equivalent control group experimental design was applied. Dependent variables included observed and perceived safety behavior, safety climate, psychological safety, and feedback. The results indicated that the safety coaching program effectively increased patrols' safety behavior and safety climate. Furthermore, psychological safety and feedback improved. These findings suggest that the developed safety coaching program could serve as an alternative method to enhance safety management for expressway safety patrols. Finally, the implications, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed.

지원적 상생협력이 안전 분위기, 안전 예방 활동 및 안전행동에 미치는 영향: 중소 물류기업의 안전 품질 관점에서 (A Study on the Effects of the Win-Win Supportive Collaboration on Safety Climate, Safety Prevention, and Safety Behavior: From the Safety Quality Perspective of Domestic Small and Medium-sized Logistics Companies)

  • Purpose: This study aims to contribute to the research flow on the relationship between win-win supportive collaboration and safety, while noting that win-win supportive collaboration affects corporate safety-related factors such as climate, safety prevention, and behavior from the perspective of domestic small and medium-sized logistics companies that have signed contracts with large logistics companies, Methods: Based on responses from 147 small and medium-sized logistics companies, structural equation modeling is performed to examine the relationship among the factors such as supportive collaboration, safety climate, safety prevention, safety behavior. Results: Study results are as follows. Supportive collaboration of large logistics companies influence the formation of a safety climate and safety behavior within logistics SMEs positively. In addition, safety prevention and safety behavior are affected by safety climate in a positive way. Conclusion: Win-Win supportive collaboration is a driving force behind safety management practices in the supply chain leading to safety management performance, so it is necessary to consider it for the growth of the sustainable supply chain.

Identifying unsafe habits of construction workers based on real-time location

  • Unsafe behavior is one of the major causes of construction accidents. Managing the behavior of workers in real-time is difficult and requires huge manpower. In this paper, a new real-time locating framework is proposed to improve safety management by collecting and analyzing data describing the behavior of workers to identify habits that may lead to accidents. The aim of the study is to identify working habits of workers based on their location history. Location data is used to compare with that of other workers and equipment. The results indicate that the reuse of real-time location data can provide extra safety information for safety management and that the proposed system has the potential to prevent struck-by accidents and caught-in between accidents by predicting unwanted interaction between workers and equipment. This adds to current research aimed at automating construction safety to the point where the continuous monitoring, managing and protection of site workers on site is possible.

안전관리 우수연구실 인증제 참여 여부에 따른 안전리더십, 안전분위기, 안전동기, 안전행동 차이 분석 (Differences in Safety Leadership, Safety Climate, Safety Motivation, and Safety Behavior Based on Participation in the Certification System for Exemplary Laboratories in Safety Management)

  • This study aims to analyze the differences between the safety leadership of the laboratory director, safety climate, safety motivation, and safety behavior of research workers based on whether they have participated in the certification system for exemplary laboratories in safety management (CSEL). An online survey was conducted among research workers to analyze the effect of the CSEL. The independent variables used in the survey were participation and non-participation in the CSEL, while the dependent variables were the safety leadership of the laboratory director, safety climate, safety motivation, and safety behavior of research workers. The results demonstrate that the group that participated in the CSEL had statistically significantly higher levels of safety leadership, safety climate, safety motivation, and safety behavior than the one that did not do so. Therefore, it can be concluded that the CSEL has a positive impact on the establishment of an autonomous safety management system in a laboratory by improving the safety culture and safety behavior of research workers. Further, the extrinsic factors, which are subfactors for safety motivation, did not reflect a significant difference between the group that participated in the CSEL and the one that did not. Thus, a reward system for research workers with excellent safety activities should be operated by research institutes since it is necessary to strengthen the intrinsic safety motivation of individual research workers which can be strengthened by compensation. The government should consider measures such as providing research incentives to researchers participated in CSEL.

가상·증강현실을 활용한 체험안전교육의 몰입도가 현장 적용성 및 안전사고예방에 미치는 영향: 조선산업 종사자를 중심으로 (Effect of Immersion on Field Applicability and Safety Accident Prevention in Experience Safety Education Using Virtual/augmented Reality : Focusing on Shipbuilding Workers)

  • Recently, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies are attracting attention as core technologies in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. These virtual and augmented reality technologies are being used in a variety of industries, including the construction industry, healthcare industry, and manufacturing industry, to innovate in communication and collaboration, education and simulation, customer service and reinvention of the customer experience. In this paper, VR-based experiential safety education was conducted for workers of shipbuilding companies in Ulsan city, and for them, the educational effectiveness such as immersion, site applicability, safety accident prevention, education satisfaction, overall performance, and safety behavior in VR-based safety experience education were measured. In addition, we examined whether the immersion of VR-based safety experience education affects site applicability, safety accident prevention, educational satisfaction, overall performance, and safety behavior. Furthermore, it was analyzed whether site applicability plays a mediating role in the relationship between immersion and safety accident prevention. As a result, it was found that the immersion of VR-based safety experience education affects site applicability, safety accident prevention effect, education satisfaction, overall performance, and safety behavior, and that site applicability mediates between immersion and safety accident prevention. Based on these results, we suggests a direction for the development of VR-based contents in the field of safety and health and the transformation of safety and health education in the future.

항공사 안전관리시스템에 대한 조종사의 인식과 안전행동에 대한 연구 (An Analysis on the Cockpit Crews' Perception on Airline's Safety Management System and their Safety Behavior)

  • This paper has tried to research the perception of pilots in a commercial airliners or full service carriers focusing on the airliner's safety management system (SMS). ICAO requires the airliners to set up the basic standards of SMS since the SMS is believed to be the core of the aviation risk management. According to the previous study, it was proved safety climate of an airline affects the safety behavior of cockpit crews. Safety climate is different from safety culture and the safety climate has an advantage to be measured more quantitatively than the culture. That is, the safety climate could be represented as SMS. As the results of the empirical study based on Chen & Chen(2014)'s SMS practice sacle, it had been assumed at the beginning the major factors such as Clarification of SMS, Safety Training for Crews and Sharing of SMS Information have positive effects on the motivation for safety behaviors. The motivation is directly correlated to crews' safety behaviors. However, the result showed the clarification of SMS has not a significant effect on their safety behaviors. The main reason is cockpit crews, through the survey, perceived airline seemed to have no definite standards of SMS and the senior management to have less interest in aviation safety.

간호대학생의 환자안전관리 지식, 태도, 수행자신감이 환자안전관리 행위에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Nursing Students' Knowledge, Attitudes, and Performance Confidence in Patient Safety Management on Patient Safety Management Behavior)

  • 의료기관 및 의료인의 지속적인 노력에도 불구하고 환자 안전을 위협하는 사고가 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 환자안전사고를 줄이기 위해서는 의료인의 환자안전에 대한 올바른 지식과 태도, 수행능력을 갖추는 것이 필요하다. 간호대학생은 환자안전관리와 관련된 주요인력 중 하나로 간호대학생의 환자안전관리 행위에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하는 것은 환자안전관리 역량 향상 및 안전사고예방에 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 간호대학생의 환자안전관리 관련 지식, 태도, 수행자신감이 환자안전관리 행위에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 서술적 조사연구로 연구대상 및 자료수집은 2022년 10월 25일부터 10월 28일까지 K 지역에 소재한 4학년 간호대학생 138명을 대상으로 하였고, 통계분석은 SPSS 25.0 프로그램을 이용하였다. 연구 결과, 환자안전관리 지식, 태도, 수행자신감은 환자안전관리 행위와 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 환자안전관리 행위에 미치는 영향요인은 환자안전관리 교육경험(β=.22, p<.001)과 수행자신감(β=.66, p<.001)으로 나타났다. 본 결과를 토대로 간호대학생의 환자안전관리 행위 역량을 증진시키기 위해서는 환자안전관리 교육경험 및 수행자신감을 향상시킬 수 있는 교육프로그램이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

건설현장 작업자 행동관련 소규모 현장 안전 관리 적용 (Improving Safety Management level of Small Scale Construction Sites using Behavior- Based safety Management Technique)

  • 소규모 건설 사업장에서는 한 사람이 과도하게 많은 관리영역에 대해서 책임을 져야하므로 특정 영역에 대해 집중적인 관리가 불가능하다. 실제로 이와 같은 소규모 프로젝트는 작은 규모로 인해서 정부의 관리통제에서 면제되고 있는 바, 이는 소규모 건설 현장에서의 안전 관리와 안전 관리에 대한 의식 수준이 낮은 주된 이유 중 하나이다. 정부는 그간 전국적 사고 발생 건수를 줄이기 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있지만 매년 백여 명이 넘는 근로자가 건설현장에서 사망하고 있다. 이는 그간의 관리방법으로는 일정 수준의 목표를 달성하고자 함에 있어 상당한 한계가 있다는 것을 시사한다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안한 행동 기반 안전 관리 기법에 기반한 경영 아이디어는 소규모 건설 현장에서의 사고발생을 효과적으로 절감하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
