  • As a subtype of English relative clause constructions, free relative constructions like what John ate in I ate what John ate exhibit complicated syntactic and semantic properties. In particular, the constructions have mixed properties of nominal and verbal: they have the internal syntax of sentence and the external syntax of noun phrase. This paper provides a constraint-based approach to these mixed constructions, and shows that simple constructional constraints are enough to capture their complexities. The paper begins by surveying the properties of the constructions. In discusses two types(Specific and nonspecific) of free relatives, their ,lexical restrictions nominal properties and behavior with respect to extraposition, piped piping and stacking Following these it sketches the basic framework of the HPSG(Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar) which is of relevance in this paper. As the main part, the paper presents a constraint- based analysis in which tight interactions between grammatical constructions and a rich network of inheritance relations play important roles in accounting for the basic as well as complex properties of the constructions is question.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the physiological and psychological benefits of indoor garden to humans and to analyze the comparison according to Type A behavior pattern. The subjects included 18 male university students. Heart rate variation was used as a parameter of physiological assessment, and Semantic Differential (SD), Profile of Mood States-Brief (POMS), and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used as tools for psychological evaluation. The participants were subjected to a psychological evaluation when they were present in a garden. As a result, the parasympathetic nervous activity was increased in the indoor garden. In the analysis of psychological evaluation, indoor garden improved the positive mood states and decreased negative feelings with significant changes only in Type A group. This study supported that indoor garden can have physiological and psychological relaxing effects, which could be more significant in Type A group than Type B.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the keywords of studies related to young children's play in the selected registered and candidate academic journals and the network of the keywords by conducting a semantic network analysis. The selected journals were published over the past decade in diverse fields of study that included social sciences and life sciences such as education and early childhood education. The findings of the study were as follows: First, there was a great increase in the studies related to early childhood play over the last five years in comparison with the first term(2009-2013). As a result of analyzing how many studies were included in the journals by field, the largest numbers of the studies were published in the field of education, followed by early childhood education, and life sciences. Second, when the network of the keywords was analyzed, the major keywords in the first term were playfulness, role play, young children, creativity, play, and peer play interaction. In the second term(2014-2018), playfulness was also the most frequently exhibited keyword, followed by young children, play, and peer play behavior. Keywords such as teacher-child interaction, language skills, happiness, cognitive ability, early childhood education newly appeared.

  • In the traditional object modeling methodologies, the object model can be said as formal since it has been based on rich semantic model. But almost of all methodolgies lack in formality the dyamic model and modeling process. Dynamic model cannot represent exctly the timing constraints and the interaction among the objects, which are very important features in real-time and multimedia system. In this paper, we formalize the synamic moedl and modeling proxess based on object behavior and state. This model defines the object state space using the concepts in algebra stucture and defines the object behavior func-tion. Also this model can formalize object kifecycle and conurrency among the objects usint the temporal logiction. Also this model can frlmaize object lifecycle and conurrency among the objects using the tempral logic and behavior founction. We apply firing rules to behacior function for modeling the dependency of interaction among the objescts.

  • This paper proposes a technique for improving performance using word senses and user feedback in web information retrieval, compared with the retrieval based on ambiguous user query and index. Disambiguation using query word senses can eliminating the irrelevant pages from the search result. According to semantic categories of nouns which are used as index for retrieval, we build the word sense knowledge-base and categorize the web pages. It can improve the precision of retrieval system with user feedback deciding the query sense and information seeking behavior to pages.

  • Useful emails influence on consumers' purchase behavior and activate them to visit retail stores. Regular contact with consumers by e-mail has positive effects on brand loyalty. However, email marketing has a limitation. Spam now accounts for over half of all e-mail traffic. The increase of email users has resulted in the dramatic increase of spam emails during the past few years. In this paper, we proposed an ontology-based system offering personalized email services to overcome such limitation. Our method is not the ontology-driven spam filtering, but a personalized content service considering personal interests and relations among people by using FOAF and domain ontologies. Our system was successfully tested in email marketing domain.
