Communication Strategies of Online-Based Leadership and Members' Work Engagement and Job Burnout

  • Work engagement and job burnout are crucial problems in Korea, particularly in the business environment, and they also indicate people's motivation. Online-based teams in e-business also have these issues. Especially the role of the leader in this new type of teams is more crucial for members' motivation, behavior, and performance. Contingency leadership theories posit that different situations need different traits or behaviors of a leader. For an online-based team, which is internet-based team in e-business, a leader should use specific communication strategies to enhance a team's performance and members' motivation. In an online-based team and an offline-based team, the ways in which leaders motivate members will be different. This paper suggests particular communicative strategies for leaders of online situations. Online-based team members communicate using mobile phones or IT tools, and leaders mayinfluences members in virtual meetings. Moreover, online-based leadership needs to be more entrepreneurial and risk encouraging, and less conservative than offline-based leadership. In addition, online-based leadership should be energetic, decisive, adaptable, and inspiring, and furtherutilize communication tools such as being more gregarious/talkative, assertiveness, linguistic diversity and affect. This paper explains the roles of communicative elements such as coordination, expression, direction-giving/uncertainty reduction, empathy, meaning-making, satisfaction, and competence to decrease job burnout and to increase work engagement. The purpose of this study is to suggest communication strategies' differentiated influences on work engagement and job burnout in an online-based team.

  • We have investigated the quench behavior of the series connection of resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) components based on YBCO films. Equal shunt resistors $R_s$ across individual SFCL components successfully produced simultaneous Quenches for 5 components in series, resulting in equal application of voltage to all components. If the two components having the highest and the lowest critical currents ($I_c$) quench safely, others quench altogether The highest shunt resistance is to guarantee the safe quenches of all components, leading to the equal voltage applications within the first half cycle after a fault in the short circuit test. The highest $R_s$ was found to be 28 [$\Omega$] for the components in the given quench environment. Considering the safe quenches and protection coordination, the optimal $R_s$ was suggested to be approximately a half of the highest $R_s$,, allowing wide selection of $R_s$ and $I_c$'s. This design provides a practical wav of connecting small SFCL components in series for high voltage application.

A comparative assessment of bagging ensemble models for modeling concrete slump flow

  • In the last decade, several modeling approaches have been proposed and applied to estimate the high-performance concrete (HPC) slump flow. While HPC is a highly complex material, modeling its behavior is a very difficult issue. Thus, the selection and application of proper modeling methods remain therefore a crucial task. Like many other applications, HPC slump flow prediction suffers from noise which negatively affects the prediction accuracy and increases the variance. In the recent years, ensemble learning methods have introduced to optimize the prediction accuracy and reduce the prediction error. This study investigates the potential usage of bagging (Bag), which is among the most popular ensemble learning methods, in building ensemble models. Four well-known artificial intelligence models (i.e., classification and regression trees CART, support vector machines SVM, multilayer perceptron MLP and radial basis function neural networks RBF) are deployed as base learner. As a result of this study, bagging ensemble models (i.e., Bag-SVM, Bag-RT, Bag-MLP and Bag-RBF) are found superior to their base learners (i.e., SVM, CART, MLP and RBF) and bagging could noticeable optimize prediction accuracy and reduce the prediction error of proposed predictive models.

마코프 국면전환을 고려한 이자율 기간구조 연구 (The Behavior of the Term Structure of Interest Rates with the Markov Regime Switching Models)

  • This study examines a cointegrated vector autoregressive (VAR) model where parameters are subject to switch across the regimes in the term structure of interest rates. To employ the regime switching framework, the Markov-switching vector error correction model (MS-VECM) is allowed to the regime shifts in the vector of intercept terms, the variance-covariance terms, the error correction terms, and the autoregressive coefficient parts. The corresponding approaches are illustrated using the term structure of interest rates in the US Treasury bonds over the period of 1958 to 2009. Throughout the modeling procedure, we find that the MS-VECM can form a statistically adequate representation of the term structure of interest rate in the US Treasury bonds. Moreover, the regime switching effects are analyzed in connection with the historical government monetary policy and with the recent global financial crisis. Finally, the results from the comparisons both in information criteria and in forecasting exercises with and without the regime switching lead us to conclude that the models in the presence of regime dependence are superior to the linear VECM model.

  • To promote the remodeling project it is important to get apartment residents' consent. It is significant variable to determine project to progress smoothly from planning stage which committee of association establishment sets up to establishment stage of association. On average, it takes about 1~1.6 year in planning phase which means before construction phase of remodeling. Therefore, it is very important issue to get apartment residents' consent in planning phase. In this research, we focused on residents' opinion and proposed solution of conflict with gathering residents' opinion to proceed remodeling project. By setting particular remodeling situation, related residents represented as agents made effort to efficient coordination to reduce total duration of decision making. Therefore, we proposed multi-agent based on fuzzy inference to simulate behavior of decision making on remodeling project effectively. From this method, optimal alternative is selected by considering each agents' attributes which represented by fuzzy set. This research will develope to further research for realizing concrete multi-agent based on fuzzy inference considering all stakeholders in remodeling project.

여성 의류매장의 VMD(Visual Merchandising)에 관한 연구 (A study on the VMD(visual Merchandising) of Female Clothing store)

  • The purposes of this study are 1) to classify the consumer group according to clothing purchase store(department store, road shop, discount store, Dongdaemoon & Namdaemoon markets) 2) to analyze the differences between VMD attributes which each consumer group value. The attributes on the VMD are categorized as 5 areas 1) interior 2) show window 3) product display & display change cycle 4) color · light · music · small instrument 5) promotion(POP & salesperson). The data were collected from 238 females students and were analyzed by frequency, percent and X²-test. The results of this study are as fellows . 1) On the attribute of Interior, there were significant differences in terms of flow in a store, rest area, the cleanness of floor, show case, and the merchandise itself. 2) On the attribute of show window, there were significant differences in terms of interst of show window. 3) On the attribute of product display & display change cycle, there were significant differences in terms of display method, and display change cycle. 4) On the attribute of color · light · music · small instrument, there were significant differences in terms of interest of color coordination, luminosity and effect of light, and necessity of music & small instrument. 5) On the attribute of promotion(POP & salesperson), there were significant differences in terms of aid of POP.

Synthesis, Spectroscopic Studies and Biological Applications of Organotin(IV) Derivatives of 3-[N-(4-Nitrophenyl)-amido]propenoic Acid and 3-[N-(4-Nitrophenyl)-amido]propanoic Acid

  • New organotin(IV) derivatives with general formulae R_2SnL_2 and R_3SnL, where R = methyl, n-butyl, n-octyl and phenyl and HL is either 3-[N-(4-nitrophenyl)amido]-propenoic acid or 3-[N-(4-nitrophenyl)amido] propanoic acid have been synthesized in 1 : 2 and 1 : 1 molar ratio by different methods. The FTIR spectra clearly demonstrated that the organotin(IV) moieties react with [O,O] atoms of the ligands. The bonding and coordination behavior in these complexes are discussed on the basis of multinuclear (^1H,\,^{13}C,\,^{119}Sn) NMR and mass spectrometric studies. Antibacterial, and antifungal screening tests were performed for these compounds and reported here. These values were compared to those of the precursors and it was found that diorganotin(IV) complexes exhibit less activity as compared to triorganotin(IV) complexes . LD_{50} data were obtained by Brine Shrimp assay method. Insecticidal activity was performed for selective compounds by contact toxicity method.

  • The tourism experience factor is an essential source of competitive advantage in the tourism industry and is an important factor for predicting future tourism behavior. Tourism experience elements can be composed of areas of education, entertainment, aesthetics and deviance (Pine and Gilmore, 1998). This study examines the effect of tourist experience factors on tourist loyalty and it is meaningful to see if the experiential economic theory of Pine and Gilmore (1999) is applicable. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey on tourists using experiential tourism factors. As a result, it was found that recreational experiential factors had a significant effect on memory. Memory has a significant effect on both visitor satisfaction and tourist loyalty. This study has academic significance because it focuses on the tourism experience factor which is the core of experiential economic theory. Practical significance is that a lot of experiential contents should be found in order to better match the tourist experience factor to the requirements of visitors to the tourist site. As a result, it is expected to generate revenue and improve its competitiveness.

An Empirical Research on Current Status and Developmental Countermeasures of Language Services Industry in China

  • This paper uses Delphi Method and statistics provided by the State Administration of Market Regulation of China, attempts to develop the scale index of language service industry in China. Coupled with practical investigation and theoretical framework of SCP paradigm, a deep analysis on market behavior, market structure, and market performance of the industry have been explored. First, the study indicates that the scale index of Chinese language services industry has experienced an upward trend from 10.481million RMB in 2008 to 351.403 million RMB in 2017. Second, majority of language services enterprises are situated in Chinese coastal provinces and there are variations in demand for language services. Third, the standardization of language services are minimal while most of the talents involve a single discipline background. Fourth, most enterprises utilize language tools while there is lack of technological innovation for utilization of language resources and enhancement of service quality. The author mainly suggests four strategies which include: cultivating multilingual services, strengthening the development of industrial informatization and technical innovation, and optimizing the industrial talents structure while also adjusting for industrial distribution and regional coordination, which propose the meaningful implications for the development of language service industry in China.

The Market Orientation from Dual Perspectives: Customers and Managers Perceptions in Tunisian Banks

  • Several studies have been conducted on market orientation over the last three decades. However, the majority of previous research focused exclusively on an internal vision that conceives the market orientation from an organizational perspective, considering the market orientation as a strictly perceived culture or behavior by company's staff (managers and employees) .This study aims to emphasize the importance of analyzing the market orientation from a dual perspective by investigating simultaneously the perceptions of customers and those of managers. It examines the perceptual gap or perceptual congruence of market orientation between customers and managers. A survey is conducted with Tunisian bank managers and B to B customers to measure their market orientation perception. The results should reveal level of manager's market orientation in Tunisian banks compared to customers' perceptions. The perception gaps of market orientation between managers and customers named congruence is highlighted and categorized. This study provides some contributions to fill the gap emerging from the one-sidedness of market orientation evaluation and gives a dyadic vision of market orientation that helps managers in their continuous learning about markets and sensing customers' needs and expectations. Market orientation level between the two groups is evaluated to give some managerial recommendations.
