  • The change of consumers' lifestyles causes frequent study on beds along with growth of economy, improvement of education and increase of dwelling in new towns and nuclear family. Beds are frequently developed in recent years since consumers' lifestyles increasingly change caused by transformation of types of dwelling, influence of western lifestyle, and increase uses of a bed. Also, this transformation causes needs for research on bed designs. A Bed is an essential item in a life since people spend one third of a day in Also, in contemporary, the ages of consumers are varied from infants to seniors. The study examines the importance of beds which playa major role in households. Moreover, the purpose of this study of beds focused on surface materials, colors, and designs is suggesting bases for future developments.

합류부에서 하상변동 수치모의 연구: 미호천 및 감천 합류부를 대상으로 (Numerical Simulation of Bed Change at the Confluence of the Gamcheon and Mihocheon)

  • 본 논문에서는 하천의 지류와 본류가 만나는 합류부를 대상으로 2차원 수치모형인 CCHE2D를 이용하여 장래하상변동 수치모의를 수행하고 분석을 수행하였다. 대상구간은 하상변동의 개연성이 클 것으로 예상되는 낙동강과 감천 합류부 그리고 금강과 미호천 합류부를 대상으로 하였다. 해당구간에서 4대강 살리기 사업이 종료된 이후인 2012년 8월 30일부터 2015년 8월 29일 수문자료를 활용하여 장래하상변동 수치모의를 수행하였다. 장래하상변동 수치모의 결과 합류부 부근에서 하상변동이 활발히 발생하는 것으로 나타났으며 특히 유사 퇴적이 집중되어 사주가 형성될 가능이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 수치모의를 통해 대상구간에서 하상변동, 평균 하상고 변화, 세퇴차량 등을 검토하여 장래 하도변화 특성을 검토하였다. 2차원 수치모형을 활용하여 지류 합류부 구간에서 향후 효율적인 지류 합류부 하도안정화 대책을 수립하는데 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

Damage evolution of red-bed soft rock: Progressive change from meso-texture to macro-deformation

  • Many foundation projects are built on red-bed soft rocks, and the damage evolution of this kind of rocks affects the safety of these projects. At present, there is insufficient research on the damage evolution of red-bed soft rocks, especially the progressive process from mesoscopic texture change to macroscopic elastoplastic deformation. Therefore, based on the dual-porosity characteristics of pores and fissures in soft rock, we adopted a cellular automata model to simulate the propagation of these voids in soft rocks under an external load. Further, we established a macro-mesoscopic damage model of red-bed soft rocks, and its reliability was verified by tests. The results indicate that the relationship between the number and voids size conformed to a quartic polynomial, whereas the relationship between the damage variable and damage porosity conformed to a logistic curve. The damage porosity was affected by dual-porosity parameters such as the fractal dimension of pores and fissures. We verified the reliability of the model by comparing the test results with an established damage model. Our research results described the progressive process from mesoscopic texture change to macroscopic elastoplastic deformation and provided a theoretical basis for the damage evolution of these rocks.

2차원 수치모형을 이용한 남한강과 섬강 합류부 구간의 흐름 및 하상변동 해석 (Numerical analysis of flow and bed change at a confluence of the Namhan River and the Seom River using a two-dimensional model)

  • 본 연구에서는 4대강 살리기 사업 후 퇴적현상이 지배적으로 발생하는 남한강과 섬강 합류부 구간을 대상으로 2차원 수치모형인 CCHE2D 모형을 이용하여 하천의 흐름 및 하상변동에 대한 해석을 수행하였다. 대상지점 합류부는 남한강 본류의 만곡부에 지류 섬강이 유입되는 특성을 갖는다. CCHE2D 모형은 비평형 유사이송을 해석하며 소류사와 부유사 조정거리가 중요한 입력변수로 대상지점에서는 소류사 조정거리가 하상변동에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 수치모의 결과 유량비($Q_r$) 변화가 남한강과 섬강 합류부 지점에서 흐름 및 하상변동에 영향을 미쳤으며, $Q_r{\leq}2.5$인 경우에는 합류전 본류의 유속이 증가하여 흐름박리구역을 감소시켰으며 이로 인해 합류부 내측의 퇴적이 감소하였다. $Q_r$>2.5이면 합류부 구간에 퇴적이 증가하여 사주가 형성될 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 수치모의를 통해 2013년에 발생한 유량비 변화에 의해 합류부에 고정사주가 형성된 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 흐름특성과 하상변동의 추정은 하천유역 내 수리구조물의 설계 및 유지관리, 홍수터 관리, 하천개수 및 하도의 안정 등을 위한 기본적인 요소이며, 하천관리에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 하도 내에 수리구조물 설치에 따른 흐름의 특성과 그에 따른 하상변동을 추정하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 금강 대청댐 하류부 11.65km 구간을 대상으로 RMA2 모형 및 SED2D 모형을 이용하여 수리구조물의 신설로 인한 흐름특성의 변화와 빈도별 홍수량에 따른 하상변동을 모의하였다. 연구결과, 수리구조물 설치로 인해 상류부에서는 하상 상승, 하류부에서는 보 설치전과 유사한 형태의 침식이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.

An Analysis of Streambed Changes Downstream of Daecheong Dam

  • Riverbed change is greatly influenced by artificial factors such as dam construction, gravel collection, and river improvement. This study simulated a long-term bed change based on the GSTARS3 model using actual data from the area downstream of the Geum River Daecheong Dam and compared the estimation with a section of the actual measurement. As a result, it was found that the section of the actual measurement was far lower than the result of the simulation in terms of long-term bed change. While the area downstream of Daecheong Dam displayed approximately an average of 2.29 m of streambed degradation on average while the upper stream area showed approximately 0.63 m of bed degradation over 24 years. In the simulation of the area downstream of Daecheong Dam based on the GSTARS3 model, similar bed degradation was observed. However, a great difference was detected between the result and the actual measurement. According to the cause analysis, the riverbed in the area downstream of Daecheong Dam has continuously degraded due to the dam construction and mass collection of gravel. The mass collection of gravel was the main cause of riverbed change. It was found that about 76% of all riverbed degradation was caused by the mass collection of gravel.

배사구 유입부 흐름 및 하상변동 수치모의를 위한 매개변수 검정 및 민감도 분석에 관한 연구 (Parameter Calibration and Sensitivity Analysis for Numerical Modeling of Flow and Bed Changes near the Opening Gate for Sediment Release)

  • The bed change analysis near the opening gate of a dam or weir to release deposited sediments have been conducted mostly using the numerical models. However, the use of unverified input parameters in the numerical model is able to produce the different results with natural and real conditions. Also, the bed changes near the opening gate of a dam or weir calculated with a numerical model could be varied depending on the geometry extent included the downstream area with supercritical flow in the model. In addition, the different time steps could provide different results in the bed change calculation, even though other conditions such as input parameters, geometries, and total simulation time were same. Therefore, in this study, hydraulic experiments were performed to validate the eddy viscosity coefficient which is the one of important input parameters in the RMA2 model and relevant to variation of simulation results. The bed changes were calculated using the SED2D model based on flow results calculated in the RMA2 model with the verified and selected eddy viscosity coefficient and also compared with experimental results. The bed changes near the opening gate were underestimated in the numerical model comparing with experimental results except only the numerical case without the modeling section of sediment release pipe and downstream area where the supercritical flow was produced. For the simulation of minimum time steps, different shapes of scour hole were produced in numerical and physical modeling.

  • Numerical simulations of the condition in the iron ore sintering bed are performed for various parameters. The sintering bed is modelled as an unsteady one-dimensional progress of solid material, containing cokes and iron ore. Bed temperature, solid mass and gas species distributions are predicted for various parameters of moisture contents, cokes contents and air suction rates, along with the various particle diameters of the solid for sensitivity analysis. Calculation results show that influences of these parameters on the bed condition should be carefully evaluated for achievement of the self-sustaining combustion without the high temperature section, which can cause the excessive melting in the bed. It suggests that the model should be extended to consider the bed structural change and multiple solid phase, which can treat the inerts and fuel particles separately.

두 탑 PSA공정의 상세 동적모사 및 초기운전조건 결정 (Rigorous dynamic simulation and determination of initial operating conditions for two-bed PSA processes)

  • A rigorous dynamic simulation was performed in binary gas mixture H$_{2}$/CO (70:30 vol.%) to determinate start-up operating conditions of PSA(Pressure Swing Adsorption) processes. The rigorous dynamic model for the PSA process contains an Ergun equation for expressing the pressure drop in a bed, and valve equations to compute the boundary pressure change of the bed. As the result of the continuous dynamic simulation of 100 operating cyles in various initial conditions, the unsteady-state appeared in the early period and the cyclic steady-state came out about 20th cycle in feed condition and vaccum condition, and 30th cycle in pure H$_{2}$ condition. As time goes by valve equations made change the pressure at each end of the bed in ressurization, countercurrunt-depressurization and pressure equalization steps. The H$_{2}$ purity and the recovery is 99.99% and 86.73% respectively, which is slightly higher than the experimental data. Main contributiion of this study includes supplying fundamental technologies of handling combined variables PSA processes by developing rigorous models.

Coal pyrolysis behaviors at supercritical CO2 conditions

  • In this study, a product gas yield and carbon conversion were measured during the coal pyrolysis. The pyrolysis process occurred under two different atmospheres such as subcritical (45 bar, 10℃) and supercritical CO2 condition (80 bar, 35℃). Under the same pressure (80 bar), the atmosphere temperature increased from 35℃ to 45℃ to further examine temperature effect on the pyrolysis at supercritical CO2 condition. For all three cases, a power input supplied to heating wire placed below coal bed was controlled to make coal bed temperature constant. The phase change of CO2 atmosphere and subsequent pyrolysis behaviors of coal bed were observed using high-resolution camcorder. The pressure and temperature in the reactor were controlled by a CO2 pump and heater. Then, the coal bed was heated by wire heater to proceed the pyrolysis under supercritical CO2 condition.
