한국 범종에 대한 음향 및 선호도 분석 (Acoustic Characteristics and Timbre Preferences of Korean Bells)

  • 본 논문에서는 전국 각지의 범종 소리를 녹음하고 이를 크기에 따라 두 개의 그룹으로 분류한 후, 두 그룹에 대하여 주관청취 평가를 시행하여 사람들이 어떤 범종 소리를 선호하는지 조사하였다. 또한, 범종 음향 분석을 통해 부분음의 위치, 크기, 맥놀이 주기, 20 dB 감쇠 시간을 분석하였다. 이후, 분석된 음향학적 파라미터와 선호도의 상관관계를 파악함으로써 선호도가 높은 범종과 선호도가 낮은 범종을 구분짓는 음향학적 특징을 알아보았다.

X밴드 FMCW 레이더용 광대역 저항성 주파수 혼합기 구현 (Implement of Broadband Resistive Mixer for X-band FMCW Radar)

  • A mixer is a key component in the wireless communication systems. In this paper, we design a mixer which is used in a frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radar system. The frequency sweep range of the radar is from 10 GHz to 11 GHz. The transmitted and received signals of the FMCW radar are applied to LO and RF ports of the mixer, respectively, but the frequency difference between the two signals, which is called "a beat frequency" is under a few KHz and depending on the distance to target. Thus the isolation between the LO and RF ports is very important factor to design this mixer. In this paper we propose a single balanced resistive mixer using GaAs MESFET for this application. We first design a single-ended type resistive mixer using a simulation tool, then design a balanced type to increase the LO-to-RF isolation of the mixer. We fabricated the mixer on the substrate of dielectric constant 10 and thickness 0.635 mm. The measured results show that the isolation and conversion loss of the mixer over the frequency band is 20dB and 10.5dB, respectively. The LO input power for operating the proposed mixer is +3dBm, which is lower than a general conventional mixer's LO power. The 1 dB compression point is 6dBm.

Implementation of an LFM-FSK Transceiver for Automotive Radar

  • The first 77 GHz transceiver that applies a heterodyne structure-based linear frequency modulation-frequency shift keying (LFM-FSK) front-end module (FEM) is presented. An LFM-FSK waveform generator is proposed for the transceiver design to avoid ghost target detection in a multi-target environment. This FEM consists of three parts: a frequency synthesizer, a 77 GHz up/down converter, and a baseband block. The purpose of the FEM is to make an appropriate beat frequency, which will be the key to solving problems in the digital signal processor (DSP). This paper mainly focuses on the most challenging tasks, including generating and conveying the correct transmission waveform in the 77 GHz frequency band to the DSP. A synthesizer test confirmed that the developed module for the signal generator of the LFM-FSK can produce an adequate transmission signal. Additionally, a loop back test confirmed that the output frequency of this module works well. This development will contribute to future progress in integrating a radar module for multi-target detection. By using the LFM-FSK waveform method, this radar transceiver is expected to provide multi-target detection, in contrast to the existing method.

실시간 맥박 및 혈압 측정을 위한 폴리머 기판 압력센서 개발 (Development of Pressure Sensor on Polymer Substrate for Real-time Pulse and Blood Pressure Measurements)

  • In this study, we introduce a polymer(polyimide) based pressure sensor to measure real-time heart beat and blood pressure. The sensor have been designed with consideration of skin compatibility of material, cost effectiveness, manufacturability and wireless detection. The designed sensor was composed of inductor coils and an air-gap capacitor which generate self-resonant frequency when electrical source is applied on the system. The sensor was obtained with metalization, etching, photolithography, polymer adhesive bonding and laser cutting. The fabricated sensor was shaped in circular type with 10mm diameter and 0.45 mm thickness to fit radial artery. Resonant frequencies of the fabricated sensors were in the range of 91~96 MHz on 760 mmHg pressurized environment. Also the sensor has good linearity without any pressure-frequency hysteresis. Sensitivity of the sensor was 145.5 kHz/mmHg and accuracy was less than 2 mmHg. Real-time heart beat measurement was executed with a developed hand-held measurement system. Possibility of real-time blood pressure measurement was showed with simulated artery system. After installation of the sensor on skin above radial artery, simple real blood pressure measurement was performed with 64 mmHg blood pressure variation.

날개의 종횡비가 날개 짓 운동의 공기역학적 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Aspect Ratio on Aerodynamic Characteristics of Flapping Motion)

  • The lift and drag forces produced by a wing of a given cross-sectional profile are dependent on the wing planform and the angle of attack. Aspect ratio is the ratio of the wing span to the average chord. For conventional fixed wing aircrafts, high aspect ratio wings produce a higher lift to drag ratio than low ones for flight at subsonic speeds. Therefore, high aspect ratio wings are used on aircraft intended for long endurance. However, birds and insects flap their wings to fly in the air and they can change their wing motions. Their wing motions are made up of translation and rotation. Therefore, we tested flapping motions with parameters which affect rotational motion such as the angle of attack and the wing beat frequency. The half elliptic shaped wings were designed with the variation of aspect ratio from 4 to 11. The flapping device was operated in the water to reduce the wing beat frequency according to Reynolds similarity. In this study, the aerodynamic forces, the time-averaged force coefficients and the lift to drag ratio were measured at Reynolds number 15,000 to explore the aerodynamic characteristics with the variation of aspect ratio. The maximum lift coefficient was turned up at AR=8. The mean drag coefficients were almost same values at angle of attack from $10^{\circ}$ to $40^{\circ}$ regardless of aspect ratio, and the mean drag coefficients above angle of attack $50^{\circ}$ were decreased according to the increase of aspect ratio. For flapping motion the maximum mean lift to drag ratio appeared at AR=8.

FM-CW 레이다에서의 거리 및 속도 추정 정확도 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Accuracy Improvement for Range and Velocity Estimates in a FM-CW Radar)

  • FM-CW 레이다는 구현이 비교적 간단하고 전자파 신호의 외부 탐지 가능성이 낮기 때문에 다양한 목적의 원격탐지 센서로 활용되고 있다. FM-CW 레이다는 주파수 변조된 연속적인 파형의 신호를 송신하고 반사 신호의 복조시에도 같은 신호를 기준 주파수로 사용한다. 따라서 목표물의 거리 및 속도 정보는 비트신호 주파수 형태로 수신되어진다. 그러나 고속으로 이동하는 목표물의 경우 레이다에서의 신호획득 시간이 현저히 짧아질 수 있기 때문에 기존의 FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) 방식에 의한 스펙트럼 추정은 그 해상도 및 정확도가 심각하게 열화 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 모델 파라메터 추정 방법인 AR(Autoregressive) 방법을 적용하여 거리 및 속도 추정 정확도와 해상도를 개선할 수 있음을 보였다.

싱잉볼 소리의 특성 및 임상적인 기전 (Acoustic Property and Clinical Mechanism of the Singing Bowl Sound)

  • 배경: 싱잉볼은 그릇 모양의 타악기로 명상 및 치유 프로그램에 활용되고 있으나, 임상적 효과에 대한 기전이 명확하지 않다. 목적: 본 논문에서는 싱잉볼 소리의 독특한 음향학적인 특성을 개관하고, 싱잉볼의 효과를 유도하는 물리적인 기전에 대해 토의했다. 방법: 문헌을 고찰하여 연구하였다. 결과: 싱잉볼 소리는 인접한 다수의 피치의 소리가 포함되어 있어 맥놀이 현상이 발생한다. 싱잉볼 소리에서 느끼는 강하고 지속적인 소리의 울림은 맥놀이 현상의 결과이다. 싱잉볼 소리의 울림은 싱잉볼 악기 및 연주 방법에 좌우되며, 대체로 명상 상태에서 관찰되는 뇌파(세타파)와 유사한 리듬을 포함하며 명상 뇌파를 활성화하는 동조 현상을 유발한다. 싱잉볼 소리의 임상적 효과는 주로 싱잉볼 소리의 울림의 리듬과 뇌파의 동조 효과와 밀접하게 관련된 것으로 추정된다. 결론: 싱잉볼 소리의 임상적인 효과에 대한 기전을 명확히 이해하기 위해서는 싱잉볼 소리의 울림에 대한 심리 및 생리적인 반응에 대한 체계적인 연구가 필요하다.

고압 LNG 펌프의 이상 진동 진단 (Abnormal Vibration Diagnosis of High Pressure LNG Pump)

  • Liquefied natural gas takes up six hundredths of the volume of natural gas, which makes storage and transportation much easier. To send out natural gas via a pipeline network across the nation, high-pressure LNG pumps supply highly compressed LNG to high-pressure vaporization facilities. The Number of high-pressure LNG pumps determined the send-out amount in LNG receiving terminal. So it is main equipment at LNG production process and should be maintained on best conditions. In this paper, to find out the cause of high beat vibration at cryogenic pumps, vibration and motor current signal analysis have been performed. High vibration of cryogenic pumps could be reduced due to the modification of motor rotor.

Can Big Data Help Predict Financial Market Dynamics?: Evidence from the Korean Stock Market

  • This study quantifies the dynamic interrelationship between the KOSPI index return and search query data derived from the Naver DataLab. The empirical estimation using a bivariate GARCH model reveals that negative contemporaneous correlations between the stock return and the search frequency prevail during the sample period. Meanwhile, the search frequency has a negative association with the one-week- ahead stock return but not vice versa. In addition to identifying dynamic correlations, the paper also aims to serve as a test bed in which the existence of profitable trading strategies based on big data is explored. Specifically, the strategy interpreting the heightened investor attention as a negative signal for future returns appears to have been superior to the benchmark strategy in terms of the expected utility over wealth. This paper also demonstrates that the big data-based option trading strategy might be able to beat the market under certain conditions. These results highlight the possibility of big data as a potential source-which has been left largely untapped-for establishing profitable trading strategies as well as developing insights on stock market dynamics.

Determining Key Features of Recognition Korean Traditional Music Using Spectrogram

  • To realize a traditional music recognition system, some characteristics pertinent to Far East Asian music should be found. Using Spectrogram, some distinct attributes of Korean traditional music are surveyed. Frequency distribution, beat cycle and frequency energy intensity within samples have distinct characteristics of their own. Experiment is done for pre-experimentation to realize Korean traditional music recognition system. Using characteristics of Korean traditional music, $94.5\%$ of classification accuracy is acquired. As Korea, Japan and China have the same musical roots, both in instruments and playing style, analyzing Korean traditional music can be helpful in the understanding of Far East Asian traditional music.
