Heat Treatment Effect of Seed on Synthesis of Chemical Manganese Dioxide (CMD) and Electrochemical Properties of LiMn2O4 obtained from the CMD (Chemical Manganese Dioxide (CMD) 합성에서의 Seed의 열처리 효과 및 그 CMD로부터 제조되는 LiMn2O4의 전지특성)

  • A series of Mn compound were prepared by seed-assisted method. The seed used in this reaction was manufactured by calcination of $MnCO_3$ at various temperatures and effects of the calcination temperature on seed-assisted reaction were investigated. With increase of the calcination temperature, CMD (${\gamma}-MnO_2$) was recovered after seed-assisted reactions. LMO used as cathode active material in the Li-ion batteries were synthesized from Mn source obtained in the seed-assisted reaction and the electrochemical properties (rate capability, cycle life performance and specific capacity) of the LMO were investigated. The LMO synthesized from the CMD which is obtained by the reaction with seed prepared by calcination of $MnCO_3$ more than $350^{\circ}C$ shown good electrochemical properties.

  • In the current MANET, DOS or DDOS attacks are increasing, but as MANET has limited bandwidth, computational resources and battery power, the existing traceback mechanisms can not be applied to it. Therefore, in case of traceback techniques being applied to MANET, the resource of each node must be used efficiently. However, in the traceback techniques applied to an existing ad hoc network, as a cluster head which represents all nodes in the cluster area manages the traceback, the overhead of the cluster head shortens each node's life. In addition, in case of multi-hop clustering, as one Cluster head manages more node than one, its problem is getting even worse. This paper proposes TNA(Traceback against Network Attacks) based on multihop clustering using the depth of tree structure in order to reduce the overhead of distributed information management.

  • The parking management system can increase driver's convenience with detailed parking information service in the parking lot. At the same time, parking management system consumes non-negligible electrical energy with large amount of sensors, displays and control modules. With the increase in the demand for green and sustainable building design all over the world, it becomes a meaningful issue for parking management system to reduce operating power. This paper presents the preliminary design and estimated results of a parking management system which is optimized to reduce the power consumption mainly on detectors and displays. The system design is based on pre-developed wireless parking detectors, Park Tile and Park Disk. The system has a number of parking space detectors, vehicle count detectors, information displays, guidance terminals and other control units. We have performed system architecture design, communication network design, parking information service scenario planning, battery life regulation and at last operating power estimation. The estimated operating power was 0.93KW per parking-slot, which is 20% of traditional systems. The estimated annual maintenance cost was 18% of traditional systems.

Design of a CMOS Image Sensor Based on a Low Power Single-Slope ADC (저전력 Single-Slope ADC를 사용한 CMOS 이미지 센서의 설계)

  • A CMOS Image Sensor(CIS) mounted on mobile appliances always needs a low power consumption because of the battery life cycle. In this paper, we propose novel power reduction techniques such as a data flip-flop circuit with leakage current elimination, a low power single slope A/D converter with a novel comparator, and etc. Based on 0.13um CMOS process, the chip satisfies QVGA resolution($320{\times}240$ pixels) whose pitch is 2.25um and whose structure is 4-Tr active pixel sensor. From the experimental results, the ADC in the middle of CIS has a 10-b resolution, the operating speed of CIS is 16 frame/s, and the power dissipation is 25mW at 3.3V(Analog)/1.8V(Digital) power supply. When we compare the proposed CIS with conventional ones, the power consumption is reduced approximately by 22% in sleep mode, 20% in operating mode.

  • With the rapid growth of recent wireless mobile computing application technology and handheld mobile terminal device development technology, one of the big issue in these fields is to design online games in wireless mobile ad hoc network environment. Online games in mobile computing environment have lots of constraints for developing online games because mobile terminals have many limitations such as low performance of processor, limited memory space, small bandwidth of wireless communication, and confined life of battery power. Therefore, most of mobile games are restrictive in the function of online and multi-play up to date. In this paper, the online MMORPG game, capable of multi-play with many other mobile users using mobile terminals in wireless mobile computing environment, is designed and implemented. Proposed mobile online game uses bluetooth to construct temporary wireless mobile ad hoc network with other mobile clients, and designed to carry out online MMORPG game with these clients. It also supports multi-play among them.

Electrochemical Performance of AlF3-Coated LiV3O8 for Aqueous Rechargeable Lithium Ion Batteries

  • In aqueous rechargeable lithium ion batteries, $LiV_3O_8$ exhibits obviously enhanced electrochemical performance after $AlF_3$ surface modification owing to improved surface stability to fragile aqueous electrolyte. The cycle life of $LiV_3O_8$ is significantly enhanced by the presence of an $AlF_3$ coating at an optimal content of 1 wt.%. The results of powder X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry, and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements confirm that the electrochemical improvement can be attributed mainly to the presence of $AlF_3$ on the surface of $LiV_3O_8$. Furthermore, the $AlF_3$ coating significantly reduces vanadium ion dissolution and surface failure by stabilizing the surface of the $LiV_3O_8$ in an aqueous electrolyte solution. The results suggest that the $AlF_3$ coating can prevent the formation of unfavorable side reaction components and facilitate lithium ion diffusion, leading to reduced surface resistance and improved surface stability compared to bare $LiV_3O_8$ and affording enhanced electrochemical performance in aqueous electrolyte solutions.

Flexible Crypto System for IoT and Cloud Service (IoT와 클라우드 서비스를 위한 유연한 암호화 시스템)

  • As various IoT devices appear recently, Cloud Services such as DropBox, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure Storage, etc are widely use for data sharing across the devices. Although, cryptographic algorithms like AES is prevalently used for data security, there is no mechanisms to allow selectively and flexibly use wider spectrum of lightweight cryptographic algorithms such as LEA, SEED, ARIA. With this, IoT devices with lower computation power and limited battery life will suffer from overly expensive workload and cryptographic operations are slower than what is enough. In this paper, we designed and implemented a CloudGate that allows client programs of those cloud services to flexibly select a cryptographic algorithms depending on the required security level. By selectively using LEA lightweight algorithms, we could achieve the cryptographic operations could be maximum 1.8 faster and more efficient than using AES.

  • Wireless sensor network combines sensing and computing technology which can sense light, temperature, vibration, magnetic field and wind etc, as each purpose of using those. Wireless nodes operate signal processing skill which has proceeded sensed information from the sensor, transmission which makes information reached to observer and limited energy managing skill which is needed on account of using battery to operate wireless. To make responsible measuring and sensing out of them, efficient energy management is so important to maintain life time of network. In this paper, after explaining CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) traditional wireless MAC protocol, and ER-MAC(Energy Rate Medium Access Control) which are not managing resource of hardware but MAN(Medium Access Control), data-link layer out of OSI 7 layer. We would like to analyze those efficiency of power saving comparing with each protocol.

  • This paper deals with the development of the safety lancet and the electric lancing device. The safety lancet, in which a needle and a protective cap become one body, is designed. It is to prevent the secondary contamination by needlestick injury because the needle is always in the protective cap except for a moment of blood-gathering. The electric lancing device powered by batteries is devised to be operated by the moving rod of solenoid hitting the lancet. and to be used after selecting the repeat or the single hitting mode. The impact force by a hitting rod, the expected life of battery and etc. are measured for product development. This lancing device can be also used for the bloodletting device of the oriental medicine.

  • Nowadays, Mobile devices are now capable of supporting a wide range of applications. Unfortunately, some of applications demand an ever increasing computational power and mobile devices have limited resources due to their constraints, such as low processing power, limited memory, unpredictable connectivity, and limited battery life. To deal with mobile devices' constraints, researchers envision extending cloud computing services to mobile devices using virtualization techniques to shift the workload from mobile devices to a powerful computational infrastructure. Those techniques consist of migrating resource-intensive computations from a mobile device to the resource-rich cloud, or server (called nearby infrastructure). In this paper, we want to highlight on cloudlet architecture (nearby infrastructure with mobile devices), its functioning and in our future work, analyze effects of distance between cloudlet and mobile devices.
