The residents solve a physiological and hygienic craving in the bathroom. Bathroom is a common space in residence. Recently the role of the bathroom with interest augmentation of the wellbeing of the consumers is coming to be important space in residence. The purpose of this research is to investigate the bathroom satisfaction and priority of the apartment resident and to present the bathroom design for the future in apartment. The subjects of this study were residents who live in brand apartments located in Seoul. The results of this study are as following, First, basically the solution of safety problem is necessary in the bathroom. Second, the daylight is necessary in the bathroom and the resident must be possible to see an external view from the bathroom. Third, the space planning for a function convenience is necessary to a bathroom space. The rest support which leads the introduction of health wellbeing and natural friendship element is necessary to the bathroom design for the future. The bathroom design for the future must be safety, must be a bathroom of the high-class finishing material.

This study aimed at researching Healthcare by the Smart Technology and the current change of people's need for Healthcare in the Bathroom. In future, it is necessary to develop the Bathroom of varied purpose. The Smart-healthcare will be the major issues at Smart Home design. Because increasing interest in Healthcare. Smart Technology is able to apply the design a bathroom for the architectural relations and realizes a remote healthcare in the Bathroom. This study will be analyze change function of Bathroom and the Smart Technology and Healthcare Systems. Therefore this study make proposal for the design of the Bathroom and the remote control of Healthcare using Smart Technology System in harmony with the special property for hygiene, physiology and Healthcare in the Bathroom.

The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of bathroom through the latest apartment model house, and to investigate the types of design element in bathroom space, that is equipment material, measurement, and shape. Also, this study compare the changes in bathroom investigated through the theoretical study and understand the general design characteristics of modern bathroom. Design characteristics of bathrooms of 19 apartment model houses that are 30pyong to 60pyong model in the south area of the Han river and new city area, Boon-dang were analyzed based on previous studies. The result of the study is as follows. 1) The most remarkable change of bathroom can be found in equipment. The type of bathroom equipment, materials, forms, size have been changing diversely. 2) In addition, the function of bathroom has been changing. Bathroom is not only sanitary place but also place for rest, health-care, beauty-care, storage, and it is possible to add health improving function. 3) On the other hand, $\ulcorner$washstand ＋ toilet ＋ shower booth$\lrcorner$ type is common for family-bathroom, and separate type of $\ulcorner$washstand ＋ toilet ＋ bathtub ＋ shower booth ＋ Powder room ＋ dress room$\lrcorner$type is most common for master-bathroom.

The purpose of this article is to establish fundamental sources and guidelines of bathroom designs of brand apartments in Korea. The article examines the current conditions of bathroom, satisfaction rates, and preference rates of residents in Mid-sized apartment units of the top five brand apartments based on construction capacity and brand popularity. A total of 427 samples, acquired via internet survey, were analyzed with the statistical computer program SPSS PC+ window version 15.0. The conclusions of the article are as follows: 1) Fixtures and products which fulfill various behaviors, as well as multi-functional space programming, are demanded. 2) Developing clear standards of basic bathroom fixtures and environments is also required in further research and to be applied to practical bathroom design. 3) The bathroom fixtures and environments ought to accommodate all age groups. 4) Respondents preferred a separated dry floor, either toilet or sink portion, to a full-dry or full-wet floor. 5) Respondents of all age groups considered bathroom as a private space, thus it should facilitate various private activities. The results of this study would contribute to adequate and sound bathroom design as key information.

The purpose of this study is to provide a basic study for a desirable bathroom planning of the 30s pyung apartments. This study explores the change of the bathroom planning and analyzes the bathroom plans of the existing apartments. The data are 927 case of the bathroom plans of the 30s pyung apartments constructed in Seoul and the new town between 1971-2003. Where 145,807 households live. In this study, a trend of the bathroom form, numble in the 30s pyung apartments are examined. For the better planning of the bathroom. factors like family size. life cycle, and manner of bathroom use should be analyzed in the future studies. The analysis of the dweller's consciousness, satisfaction, and the demands on the bathroom in 30s pyung apartments, and to give useful information on bathroom planning of 30s pyung apartments.

The interior designs and architectures are definitely important to the disabled because it could improve their independence considerably. Although the design is meaningless if for each disabled's symptom is not considering, the research on design to support detail symptom of each disabled is insufficient. This paper studies the bathroom in house for the disabled of hemiplegia after a stroke. The bathrooms is important space that cause many unnecessary activities and accidents without carefulness. Study method makes framework through principle of universal design and feature of hemiplegia after a stroke. We visit three places where the disabled live in and used qualitative analysis. After checking the present condition of the bathroom, a request and necessity of the disabled through observation and semi-structured interview. According to the result of this study, the obstruction factors were increased when the disabled try to use both hands or to reach and pick up objects, to move and to assist the severe disabled in the bathroom. Finally this study suggests design guidelines based on principle of universal design and factors for better bathroom design for the disabled.

It is very important for the elderly to maintain their independence and to live safe and comfortable daily lives in order to lead an independent life. The bathroom in the house has the greatest number of fall accidents and has a great influence on the independence of the elderly. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a bathroom design method that improves the independence of the elderly whose physical function is deteriorated through preventing falls. In this study, first of all, we investigated the causes of falling in bathrooms based on the previous studies, and identified the intelligent services that can prevent falls and selected them according to individual needs. Secondly, we investigated the bathroom size of the apartment among the various housing type, analyzed the type of the bathroom, and developed a standard type of the bathroom. Thirdly, we analyzed the design guidelines for the elderly residents in Korea and proposed improvement directions. We also divided the intelligent sanitary appliances and fall-prevention products and proposed the installation method and directions. Therefore, the comprehensive bathroom design standards and proposals proposed in this study will be the basis of bathroom design to prevent falls and improve independence of the elderly, and it will be easy to understand and help the designer in designing. Finally, this study is meaningful in that it provides independence of the elderly through fall prevention and increases the easiness of hygiene action and suggests direction to maintain self-sustaining life of the elderly.

As sensibility ergonomics are broadly spread, recently in interior design area, interests on roles of sensibility, sensibility effects for users, and etc has been increased. As a study on sensibility design for interior design area, the study applied sensibility ergonomics technique to bathroom interior design. Sensibility ergonomics technique is integrated into each phase of bathroom design process in order to produce 4 design alternatives. Sensibility evaluation on design alternatives was performed for subject of designers, and analyzed the results to show the relationship between sensibility of designers and design factors and to identify characteristics of designer's sensibility structure. The results of the study are as follows. First, it's found that in the bathroom interior design of sustainable concept, uses of bright colors with white tone and floor tile creates positive sensibility responses such as delight, healthiness, spaciousness, and cheerfulness. Second, designers' sensibility structure about sustainable bathroom is composed of three axles, healthiness, eco-friendliness, and refinement. Third, designers think colors of interior and finished materials is most important, and window, artificial lighting, layout, and space size related to those is important too. The process and approach in the study might contribute to building a fundamental of sensibility design research in interior design area.

과거에는 단순한 생리처리 및 위생공간이었던 욕실에 대한 기능이 현대에 들어서는 생활의 활력을 충전하고, 자신만의 욕구와 실현의 공간으로써 활용되는 다기능 공간화 되어 가고 있다. 이러한 의식주에 대한 소비자들의 새로운 욕구와 변화가 나타나면서 현재 '욕실' 공간에서의 행위와 요구사항을 파악할 필요성이 높아져 가고 있다. 많은 수의 한국인들은 욕실사용에 있어서 서양의 입식(立式) 샤워 방식 외에도 욕조 밖이나 대야 등에 물을 받아 사용하는 등의 욕실사용 행태를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 이와 같은 한국인의 독특한 욕실사용행태를 설계에 반영함으로써 한국인의 욕실문화가 고려된 욕실구조 도출이 가능할 것이다. 본 연구는 욕실공간에 대한 사용 만족도를 높이기 위해 한국인의 욕실사용 정황과 사용 중에 느끼는 불편함과 종합적 감정 등을 조사하여 욕실 사용자의 요구사항을 도출하며, 욕실 공간계획에 있어서 건강, 위생문제를 해결하는 공간이자, 현대인의 신체특징과 라이프스타일이 반영 가능한 기본적인 설계지침 도출을 연구목표로 하고 있다.

In this study, I wanted to propose the design direction of the furniture and products in bathroom space so that the elderly's life is well supported to meet such aging societies that are getting older. Therefore, I have drawn the elders' needs by investigating their characteristics through literature research and used such needs as a frame of analysis to analyze the bathroom furniture and products made in Korea and foreign countries. The analysis results indicate:First, the elders need entertainment, health care, environment-friendly, convenience, good accessibility, chair-based bath and space separation; second, both Korean-made and foreign-made bathroom products are difficult to be controlled, invisible of font, hard to sustain the elders' bodies, inconvenient to be used and etc; and third, the design to solve such problems should be with intuitive user interface, easy control, better accessibility, the elders' moving patterns and living habits considered, health care, pro-environmental product. This study puts emphasis on the reflection of socio-cultural characteristics in designing bathroom furniture & items for aging society and requires more bathroom products with various designs in the foreseeable future.
