  • The accumulation of spatial information - people, building, land and businesses- is required to make a rational decision successfully by utilizing the Spatial Decision Support Systems (SDSS). Many foreign countries have utilized the SDSS by defining the minimum unit of spatial area and implementing the spatial database based on it. Even though in Korea, National Basic Districts were created for the purpose of utilizing these districts as a basic area, they have not been utilized as a basic area of managing the spatial database due to the lack of attributes data. Therefore, the goal of this research is to suggest the strategies of building Spatial Decision Support Systems through the accumulation of the spatial data based on National Basic Districts. We propose the strategies in three different fields - legal system, database and application, services. We expect that the role of National Basic Districts w ill be strengthened by executing our strategies as a minimum spatial unit of Korea.

  • This study aims to standardize the work classification system in spatial data. It is the base frame to classify the general information systematically in spatial data construction process. Work process of the surveying firm and rules for basic surveying which is being accomplished in the NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) are investigated and analysed. Therefore, types, individual process, and results of surveying work is standardized. If the work classification system from this study is adopted as the national standard and is also advanced by construction methodology, the spatial data will be managed futuristically and systematically.

  • In spatial information processing, particularly in non-renewable resource exploration, the spatial data sets, including remote sensing, geophysical and geochemical data, have to be geocoded onto a reference map and integrated for the final analysis and interpretation. Application of a computer based GIS(Geographical Information System of Geological Information System) at some point of the spatial data integration/fusion processing is now a logical and essential step. It should, however, be pointed out that the basic concepts of the GIS based spatial data fusion were developed with insufficient mathematical understanding of spatial characteristics or quantitative modeling framwork of the data. Furthermore many remote sensing and geological data sets, available for many exploration projects, are spatially incomplete in coverage and interduce spatially uneven information distribution. In addition, spectral information of many spatial data sets is often imprecise due to digital rescaling. Direct applications of GIS systems to spatial data fusion can therefore result in seriously erroneous final results. To resolve this problem, some of the important mathematical information representation techniques are briefly reviewed and discussed in this paper with condideration of spatial and spectral characteristics of the common remote sensing and exploration data. They include the basic probabilistic approach, the evidential belief function approach (Dempster-Shafer method) and the fuzzy logic approach. Even though the basic concepts of these three approaches are different, proper application of the techniques and careful interpretation of the final results are expected to yield acceptable conclusions in cach case. Actual tests with real data (Moon, 1990a; An etal., 1991, 1992, 1993) have shown that implementation and application of the methods discussed in this paper consistently provide more accurate final results than most direct applications of GIS techniques.

  • Oil Field Geographical Information System (OFGIS) manages multiple spatial data, attribute data, and topographic data, which include almost every kind of ground info rmation and underground information. Subsystems managed by OFGIS include petroleum exploration subsystem (PESS), petroleum development and engineering subsystem (PDESS), petrochemical subsystem (PCSS), petroleum storage and transportation subsystem (PSTSS), petroleum sale subsystem (PSSS), etc. A basic OFGIS framework consists of oil field infrastructure coverage (OFIC), oil field specialized information coverage (OFSIC) and oil field synthesis and decision service coverage (OFSDSC). Basic function of OFGIS includes database management, geographic information management, spatial information processing and application.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the curriculum of spatial convergence studies for the major field of housing and interior design. Documentary research and content analysis methods were used in this study. Data drawn from internet homepage of each universities which were 20 colleges the major field of housing and interior design and 160 colleges of architectural design, and public institutions the MLTM and the KRIHS. The major results of this study were as follows. 1) Government has been supported the specialized graduate school of spatial information and the university which they have spatial information curriculum during 5 years. 2) The department of spatial information has been educated the theory and practice about spatial issues in order to train the spatial specialist helpful to the new growing industry. 3) There were little changed curriculum which has related to the department of housing and interior design. The half of their curriculum were housing project and interior design. The spatial convergence studies educational program should be grow up step by step. The first is basic level to learn the basic theory of spatial studies for example the spatial introduction or the housing and the second is low level to learn the depth theory of spatial studies for example the design I or the housing development. The third is middle level to apply the depth theory of spatial studies for examples the design II, III or housing policy and institutions. And the last is high level to practice the depth theory of spatial studies for example housing construction or internship.

  • Histogram is a very useful method on various practical aspect. With increasing importance of simple calculation method and convenience, it became the basic method in digital image processing nowadays. However, basic limit of using histogram is losing spatial position information of pixels on image. This paper reanalyzes image by presenting histogram with spatial position information(spatial histogram). Also using that result, level order recursive median filter is realized. Presented recursive median filter showed much improved results on edge maintenance aspect compared to existing recursive median filter.

  • Recently, it is becoming necessary for architectural heritage to make spatial information structure by using BIM(Building Information Modeling). However, current BIM system can not be used because its information classification and structure is not suitable for architectural heritage. This is a basic study which focuses on upgrading spatial information structure of BIM so that it would be possible to use BIM in management of preservation of architectural heritage, too. This study analyzes Sungnyemun case and its spatial information structure.

  • The purpose of this study is to build a database of Spatial information Bigdata of cities using satellite images and spatial information, and to examine the correlations with the surface temperature. Using architectural structure and usage in building information, DEM and Slope topographical information for constructed with 300 × 300 mesh grids for Busan. The satellite image is used to prepare the Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Bare Soil Index (BI), and Land Surface Temperature (LST). In addition, the building area in the grid was calculated and the building ratio was constructed to build the urban environment DB. In architectural structure, positive correlation was found in masonry and concrete structures. On the terrain, negative correlations were observed between DEM and slope. NDBI and BI were positively correlated, and NDVI was negatively correlated. The higher the Building ratio, the higher the surface temperature. It was found that the urban environment DB could be used as a basic data for urban environment analysis, and it was possible to quantitatively grasp the impact on the architecture and urban environment by adding local meteorological factors. This result is expected to be used as basic data for future urban environment planning and disaster prevention data construction.

  • Indoor space is a new horizon of spatial information services. With recent progress of indoor positioning technologies and mobile devices such as smart phones, indoor spatial information services become available and an emerging market. Accordingly, exchanging and sharing indoor spatial information between independent services become an important issue. For this reason, a standardization working group, called IndoorGML has been launched last year in OGC with the aim of publishing IndoorGML standard by September, 2013. Its primary goal is to provide a framework for representing network topology in indoor space, which is a fundamental element of indoor LBS. In this paper, we will explain the basic concepts of indoorGML and discuss the modeling issues. And several application use-cases of IndoorGML will be also presented in this paper.

  • Various basic information is required to scientifically and rationally utilize and manage national territory. For this, a variety of informatization projects have on developed from public sectors. However, there are a lot of problems including weak linkage between individual information systems and databases and lack of the coordinating function in promoting national territorial informatization projects. This study aims to provide policy alternatives on the integration and linkage of basic information within national territorial planning system. These results will be applied to the planned utilization and environmental friendly management of national territory.
