Purpose: This study was conducted to identify relations among health behaviors, health symptoms and physical fitness of people in the same community. Method: The study was designed as a descriptive survey and the participants were 1,621 healthy people. Data were collected from March to December, 2003 using a structured questionnaire on health behaviors, health symptoms and physical fitness. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, $\chi^2$-test, t-test, two-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression using SPSS/PC. Results: The result of multiple regression showed that sex, age, and BMI were related to physical fitness. In health-related physical fitness, regular exercise was related to cardiorespiratory endurance and flexibility, and daily caffeine intake was related to muscular endurance. In performance-related physical fitness, having breakfast regularly was related to power, daily caffeine intake was related to agility, and regular lifestyle and health symptoms were related to balance. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study suggests that for better physical fitness, nursing strategies and intervention programs should include physical fitness-related factors, and education programs should be developed based on the above parameters to promote positive perception of physical fitness.
Physical activity has been effective in enhancing quality of life and physical fitness of older adults over relatively short periods of time. However, little is known about the Yoga-based exercise program on physiological changes and physical fitness with psychological variables in elderly women. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Yoga- based exercise program on physiological, psychological factors and physical fitness in elderly women. Forty-four elders were recruited from the public health center. They were divided into exercise training group(n=22) and control group(n=22). The training group participating in 10 weeks of Yoga-based exercise program. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, the chi-square test, Fisher's Extract test, and ANCOVA to evaluate body fat, spine ROM, blood pressure, cholesterol, depression, life satisfaction, ADL and physical fitness. There was a significant improvement in blood pressure, total cholesterol, precent of body fat, physiological function, depression, life satisfaction, ADL and physical fitness in the exercise training group than that of the control group. From the results, Yoga-based interventions designed to improve various variables were equally acceptable to elderly women.

The purpose of this study is to review the effect of previous research data with virtual reality-based Physical Activity Therapy Programs(PATPs) in adult on the physical fitness factors. Research articles were retrieved from 2008 to 2021 with the Research Information Sharing Service(RISS) and Pubmed database. The main search terms were 'care', 'therapy', 'healing', 'exercise' or 'physical activity', and 'virtual reality'. The criteria for selecting articles of this study were the originality, duplication, Randomized controlled trial(RCT) experiment and subject. Finally, 18 papers were selected among 318 articles, which were excluded if any of the criteria was not satisfied. Most of papers(15) were conducted in the last 5 years, because of the high interest due to the development of virtual reality implementation technology and COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were mainly patients(8), and the types of diseases were stroke(2). The physical fitness factors were mostly balance ability(7), muscle strength(7), and range of motion(6). All the physical fitness factors were significantly improved after PATPs. However, 11 studies were conducted for less than 4 weeks, including 6 studies were performed a bout of acute exercise. Also, 14 studies did not clearly present the intensity of PATPs. In addition, there were 9 studies, that simply applied games without specialized programs. In conclusion, it seems that virtual reality-based PATPs have a positive effect on physical fitness factors. However, VR-based PATPs should be specialized and developed in order to verify their effectiveness for the further research.
The proposed system is composed of two parts, an AI physical fitness measurement part and an AI physical fitness management part. In the AI fitness measurement part, a guide to physical fitness measurement and accurate calculation of the measured value are performed through deep learning-based pose recognition. Based on these measurements, the AI fitness management part designs personalized exercise programs and provides them to dedicated smart applications. To guide the measurement posture, the posture of the subject to be measured is photographed through a webcam and the skeleton line is extracted. Next, the skeletal line of the learned preparation posture is compared with the extracted skeletal line to determine whether or not it is normal, and voice guidance is provided to maintain the normal posture.
The purpose of the study was to identify available evidence related to physical activity interventions that were effective to improve health-related physical fitness levels of children and youth with disabilities. Studies were accumulated from multiple databases (i.e., ERIC, Child Development & Adolescent Studies, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus with Full Text, and CINAHL Plus with Full Text). From the initial process, 1195 articles were identified and of those, 13 studies (n = 13) were analyzed. Based on the results, community-based physical activities were the most common environment of interventions followed by school-based and home-based. Further, the most improved health-related physical fitness outcomes were muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardiorespiratory endurance while limited evidence on weight reduction was available. There is a need for more research on physical activity intervention which particularly improves health related physical fitness of children and youth with disabilities.
Background: Various functional factors should be incorporated during assessment and intervention for patient rehabilitation. Stable respiratory function is one of required factors for functional restoration. To maximize respiratory physical therapy intervention outcome, it is required to understand clinical features of respiratory diseases and physical therapy approaches. Methods: Previous studies were systematically reviewed through computerized search. Methodological qualities of selected studies were evaluated and the levels of recommendations were determined. Results: Assessment for respiratory pattern and thoracic mobility is of importance to improve cardiopulmonary fitness during physical reconditioning. Application of optimal therapeutic protocol can increase thoracic mobility and respiratory function. Interdisciplinary communication is critical during rehabilitation for respiratory patients. Health care provider should have professional knowledge and experience for cardiopulmonary fitness and obligation to endeavor for patients' respiratory rehabilitation. It is necessary to standardize therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative respiratory exercise should be applied to confirm the effects of intervention. Conclusion: Respiratory diseases that may reduce patients' quality of life and cardiopulmonary fitness should be resolved through physical therapy approaches. Through conducting research, effect of evidence-based and patients' function-oriented intervention can be determined.
Purpose: To examine the effects of a smartphone application-based exercise program on self-efficacy expectations (SEE) and outcome expectations regarding exercise (OEE), physical fitness, activity level, physiological indices, and health-related quality of life in a sample of hemodialysis patients. Methods: A quasi-experimental control group pre-test post-test design was used. Subjects were recruited from two university hospitals in G city. The subjects were assigned randomly by coin toss: 33 participants to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. A literature review and the self-efficacy theory were used to develop the smartphone program. Experts designed and verified the program to be userfriendly and in consideration of user interaction. Data were collected through a self-report pre-test post-test questionnaire and online medical records. Results: In the experimental group, the levels of physical fitness and physical activity were significantly improved post-test, but the scores on health-related quality of life and the physical indices did not improve. In the experimental group, the SEE and OEE post-test scores were also significantly higher than the pre-test scores, but the control group's scores did not change. Conclusion: The smartphone application-based exercise program based on self-efficacy theory significantly improved the level of physical fitness and activity, SEE, and OEE for hemodialysis patients. The use of this application-based exercise program for hemodialysis patients might be an effective nursing intervention tool for improving SEE, OEE, level of physical fitness, and physical activity.

PURPOSE: This study examined the effectiveness of an active lifestyle on the HRV and fitness of the older female adults. METHODS: Eighty female older adults (72.68±3.78 years) were sampled from a senior wellness institute. Accelerometers were distributed to each participant to have the device attached to them for one week, and the physical activity data (Energy expenditure in Kcal) of each participant were analyzed. Participants were divided into 3 groups (<1,000 Kcal vs 1,000 to 1,500 Kcal vs ≥1,500 Kcal) based on the amount of weekly physical activity. Before and after data analysis, the HRV was measured at resting state and the Senior Fitness Test was performed. RESULTS: One way ANOVA showed a significant difference in the HRV between the three groups. Group A (≥ 1,500 Kcal) was superior in HF and HF/HF + LF whereas Group C (<1,000 Kcal) showed high level of LF, LF/HF, and LF/HF+LF. The same statistics revealed significant differences in fitness. Most of the fitness variables were superior in Group A and B compared to Group C. Significant correlations were observed between physical activity and both HRV and in fitness. CONCLUSION: Theses results suggest that an active lifestyle may be an effective intervention for the prevention of both cardiometabolic disorder and improvement of the fitness level in older female adults.
National interest in nuclear safety continues to increase. One of the policies that the government is pursuing is to change a temporary position to a permanent position for irregular special security guards of Nuclear power plants. At this point in time, it is urgent to discuss the method of their physical fitness test because duties of special security guards such as arrest and self-defense, unarmed defensive tactics, proficiency with semiautomatic rifle, etc, demands a lot of physical fitness. The purpose of this study is to analyze the physical fitness tests of police, firefighters and soldiers in Korea, US and Japan through literature review. After that, a new fitness test method suitable for special security guards of nuclear power plants was derived through expert meetings. This study also suggested a guideline to analyze the fitness test results so that the developed fitness method can be introduced to the field. For this purpose, physical fitness tests were conducted on 74 subjects. Based on the results of the experiment, the expected records of special security guard fitness tests were presented.
