다목적 고기능성 알칼리용액 BARODON®을 첨가한 발아 현미 식빵의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of sprouted brown rice bread with an anionic alkali mineral complex solution BARODON®)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the addition ratio of BARODON® on the dough volume, moisture content, loaf volume and weight and the sensory characteristics of sprouted brown rice bread. The loaf volume and sensory characteristics of the bread with BARODON® were higher than those without. The moisture content and loaf weight of the bread with BARODON® were lower than those without. Although these results were irregular with increasing amounts of BARODON addition. The sprouted brown rice bread with 0.6% BARODON® gave the best loaf volume and overall acceptance, whereas those with 4.8% BARODON® had the best odor, color and mouthfeel. BARODON® will be very useful as a leavening agent for improving the overall quality of sprouted brown rice bread.

Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Barodon, an Anionic Alkali Mineral Complex, on Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, Innate Immunity, Goblet Cell and Digestibility in Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • A 15-wk feeding trial was conducted to examine the supplemental effects of Barodon on growth performance, gastrointestinal histology, feed digestibility and innate immunity in olive founder. A basal commercial diet was used as a control and two other diets were prepared by spraying 0.1% or 0.2% of Barodon. Triplicate groups of fish (BW, 145 g) were fed one of the test diets to apparent satiation twice daily. At the end of the feeding trial, fish growth performance was not significantly affected by dietary treatments; however, feed utilization was significantly improved (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) by Barodon supplementation. Significantly higher (p<0.05) survival rates were obtained in fish fed Barodon containing diets. Hepatosomatic index increased significantly in Barodon treated groups. Also, the use of Barodon resulted in significant increase (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) of intestine length and number of goblet cells. Significantly higher (Quadratic, p<0.05) apparent digestibility coefficient of DM was obtained by supplementation of Barodon. Lysozyme and myeloperoxidase activities increased quadratically and linearly, respectively, in Barodon treated fish. Also, significantly higher (linear and quadratic, p<0.05) superoxide dismutase activity was found in Barodon fed fish. The findings in this study show that inclusion of Barodon in diets for olive flounder improves feed utilization and digestibility, and positively affects digestive tract histology and innate immunity.

  • 생쥐 초기배의 배반포 발달율이 BSA첨가 배양액에 Barodon-FX(equation omitted) 첨가로 증가되지 않았으나 PVP 첨가 배양액에 0.25% 첨가에서는 부화배반포 발달율이 54.7%로 대조구(32.5%)보다 크게 향상 되었다(P <0.05). 1∼2% Barodon 첨가는 배발달을 월등히 저하시켰다. Barodon 첨가에 따른 체세포 증식율은 BOEC와 GC의 경우 0.25∼0.5%에서 대조구보다 각각 24∼40%와 17∼22%더 크게 증가되었다(P<0.05). 그러나 GC와 CC에서는 1%이상 첨가시 세포증식이 크게 억제되었다(P <0.05). Barodon의 효과는 체세포간에 큰 차이가 있었다. 소 초기배에서 상실배이상의 배발달율은 BOEC와 GC 공배양조건에서 Barodon 0.5% 첨가에서 대조구보다 크게 향상되었다(P<0.05). 그러나 다른 처리 수준에서는 배 발달율이 대조구와 차이가 없었다. 결론적으로 Barodon의 세포증식효과는 세포종류에 따라 차이가 많았으며 0.5% 수준의 첨가는 소 초기배의 배반포발달율을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

Effect of Anionic Alkali Mineral Complex Barodon$^{(R)}$ on Body Growth and Testicular Development in Rats

  • Effects of Barodon$^{(R)}$ on body growth, histological changes in seminiferous tubules of testes and serum level of testosterone and FSH were examined in juvenile rats from 5 to 38 wks of age. All rats supplied feed and Barodon-added water(0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.3 and 1.0%) available ad libitum. DNA distribution of testicular cells from control rats obtained by flow cytometry was characterized by 4 peaks representing I : elongated, II round spermatids(1N), III: a variety of 2N cells and IV: 4N cells. Frequencies of 4 testicular cell types were calculated using cumulative DNA frequency distributions. Body growth from 18wk of age was significantly accelerated in rats supplied water with 0.15% Barodon compared to other groups. Testes weights tended to be greater in 0.15% Barodon-treated rats than in control, without significant difference. Diameter of seminiferous tubules advanced in 0.15-0.3% Barodon till 26 wk of age, but there was not significant different. Proportion of spermatids in seminiferous tubules was 48.4% at 6wk of age(round: 81.2% and elongated: 18.8% as proportion of total spermatids) and frequency of spermatids was higher in 0.3% Barodon group(57.1%) than in control(44.0%), but there was no significant difference. Serum testosterone of all groups significantly elevated at 18wk of age and level in 0.15% Barodon group was greatly higher than in others. Serum FSH at 10wks was greatly higher in 0.1-0.3% Barodon groups compared to control, but there were no significant differences. It is concluded that 0.15-0.3% Barodon treatment tended to induce precocious puberty in rats.

비특이 면역증강제 BARODON®에 대한 유전독성시험 (Mutagenicity Studies on Nonspecific Immunostimulator BARODON®)

  • A nonspecific immunostimulator $BARODON^{\circledR}$ was tested for mutagenicity using Ames Salmonella tester strains TA98, TA1 00, TA 102, TA 1535 and TA 1537 with or without metabolic activation (59 mix). None of the fresh species showed mutagenicity. In the reverse mutation test using Salmonella phimurium TA98, TA100, TA102, TA1535 and TA1537 did not increase the number of revertants at all doses tested (5, 2.5 or 1.25 mg/ml). Chromosome aberration test was carried out in Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cell line. The cells were treated with $BARODON^{\circledR}$ (1, 0.5 or 0.25 mg/ml), while positive control group was treated with Mitomycin C (0.1 mg/ml). The results show that there is no statistically significant difference between positive control and treatment groups. In mouse micronucleus test, there was significant increase in the ratio of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocyte (MNPCE) in the high dose group (10% $BARODON^{\circledR}$), while there is no significance between control and low (2.5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$) or middle (5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$ dose groups. Taken together, this results suggest that below 5% $BARODON^{\circledR}$ might not have mutagenic potential in vitro and vivo systems.

돼지 액상정액에서 $Barodon^{(R)}$의 항산화 효과에 관한 연구

  • 세포에 대한 산화스트레스는 세포의 대사와 기능저하의 원인이 되고 있으며 이를 줄이기 위한 항산화 물질의 첨가가 연구되고 있다. 본 연구는 비특이면역증가제이며 다목적 고기능성 알칼리용액 조성물인 Barodon의 항산화 효과를 돼지정자를 이용하여 조사하여, 돼지 액상정액의 보존성 향상을 위한 Barodon의 이용성을 알기 위하여 시도하였다. 실험구로서 무첨가구와 활성산소 인위발생구(xanthine+xanthine oxidase, X-XO), X-XO구에 superoxide dismutase, cataiase, Barodon(2종류)의 단독처리구 및 X-XO구에 이들 항산산제의 복합처리구로 나누어 항산화제 처리효과에 따른 정자운동특성을 CASA로 분석하였다. 또한 돼지 액상정액에서 Barodon의 항산화 효과를 무첨가구, catalase구 및 Barodon구로 나누어 정액의 보존기간별 정액성상 변화(정자활력, 생존성, 첨체이상)를 조사하였다.

  • [ $BARODON^{(R)}$ ] is a multi-purpose, high functional alkali solution made by mixing and liquid-ionizing silicon, calcium, sodium, borax, organic carbon chemicals and silver. In this study, we have investigated the apoptotic potential and mechanistic insights of $BARODON^{(R)}$ in human gastric cancer cell line (AGS cells). In MTT assay, $BARODON^{(R)}$ reduced cell viability in AGS cells. Morphological features of apoptosis with marked cytoplasmic vacuolation and appearance of apoptotic peaks in flow cytometry were observed in AGS cells with$BARODON^{(R)}$ treatment. In addition, $BARODON^{(R)}$ induced apoptosis of stomach cancer cell is related to bax up-regulation, caspase 7 protease activation and subsequent cleavage of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). These results suggest that BARODON can induce the apoptosis of AGS cells through modulation of bcl-2 family and the activation of intrinsic caspase cascades, indicating that it is potentially useful as a anti-cancer agent.

  • Two local irritation and skin sensitization studies of nonspecific immunostimulator, $BARODON^{\circledR}$ were carried out with New Zealand White rabbits and Hartley guinea pigs. In skin irritation test of male New Zealand White rabbits, body weights were not significantly changed and there were no responses after treatment for 24 or 72 hours and the Primary irritation index (P.1.1.) was '0'. And, in the eye irritation test, there were chemosis in some of rabbits. One of 3 rabbits in washing group was detected chemosis after 24 and 72 h following treatment and 2 of 6 rabbits in non-washing group were detected chemosis after 24h and 7 days following treatment. Therefore, total score is '4' after 24 h and '2' after 72 h following treatment by conforming article "some blood vessel are clearly hyperemic" . However evaluation value is non-irritant because M.O.I. (Mean ocular irritation index) score is below during the all experimental period and no significance through individuals and exposure time. In skin sensitization, the score of skin reaction was graded 1 with 0% sensitization rate. Taken together, these results indicate that $BARODON^{\circledR}$ may be non-irritant material. material.

  • The antigenicity of nonspecific immunostimulator BARODON$^{(R)}$, a newly developed drug, was investigated by tests for passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) and active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA) in mice and guinea pigs. In ASA test using guinea pigs, there were no significant clinical symptoms in all individuals of low(0.3%) and high(3%) dose of both groups treated with only BARODON$^{(R)}$ and cotreated with BARODON$^{(R)}$ and adjuvant group. In PCA test, blue spots of Evan's were observed from $2^6$ to $2^{10}$ in homologous group and from $2^2{\sim}2^5$ dilution rate in heterologous group of BSA treated positive control group. However, intradermal sensitization with antiserum obtained from low (0.3%) and high (3%) dose of BARODON$^{(R)}$ only treatment group and treated-with-adjuvant group, followed by intravenous injection of respective antigen and Evan's blue mixture (1:1) showed no blue spot observed. In conclusion, BARODON$^{(R)}$, as showed in ASA and PCA test, did not cause anaphylatic shock when treated 3 and 10 times higher than clinically intended dose, nor induce IgE, so that might not have antigenic properties in mice and guinea pigs.
