  • In this paper we present the development of internet banking and its impact on financial market. The internet banking has been introduced since 1990s, from which customers could obtain most financial services over internet, and will replace with the traditional banks. According to a survey, most of bankers agree that internet will play an important role in banking industry. The internet banking has an enormous impact on the transfer system and banking industry. The transfer system is divided into two-large-value transfer system and small-value transfer system, depending on the size of its transfer amount. The internet banking will enhance the transfer system, especially small-value transfer system. It will reduce the time lag between transaction of service and its payment. However, a congestion or a blockage in a part of network might stop the financial service all over the network, which is called "computer risk". As internet banking develops, banks have incentives to reduce their branches and have to compete with information-business companies which can offer financial EDI.

In the foreseeable future, it is expected to increase rapidly the demands of mobile banking in bank systems with the prevalence of smart devices and technologies. However, the keeping 'security' is very important in banking systems that handles personal information and financial assets. But it is very difficult to improve the security of banking systems only with the vulnerabilities and faults analysis methods of information security. Hence, in this paper, we accomplish the analysis of security risk factor and security vulnerability that occur in mobile banking system. With analyzed results, we propose the information security control and management processes for assessing and improving security based on the mechanisms which composes mobile banking system.

  • This study develops an early warning system (EWS) to prevent the banking crisis. The proposed system incorporates both the perspective of crises and fundamental characteristics of the banking system in each economy. A fuzzy logic method with data from 1990-2009 is employed to construct the EWS of banking crisis based on 21 pre-determined variables from the aspect of total economy, financial and banking sectors. Our results show: Firstly, South Korea recorded higher probability to have a banking crisis in 1997 as there was large foreign debt in dollars. Secondly, China, Australia and New Zealand banking systems appear to be vulnerable to the crisis in 2007. The surge of China export, FDIs and booming stock market were signs of a heated economy. Australia with high commodity prices was also vulnerable to crisis. Thirdly, Australia, China, Japan and New Zealand banking systems appear to be exposed to the higher chance of a crisis in 2010. Japan with deflation coupled with expensive yen did not augur well for its export. Overall, the findings show that in Asian Financial Crisis 1997/98 and Global Financial Crisis 2008/09, many economies are exposed to a higher probability of having the crisis and this shows an urgent need of having surveillance in these economies.

  • Online or e-banking has been adopted as key banking innovation in Uganda adopted by all financial institutions in the country. This research explored the state of e-banking and its efficacy in Uganda banking industry. A correlation analysis approach was adopted for this research. In Uganda, the banking sector has been liberalized with telecommunications allowed to effect e-banking and ecommerce transactions. The study concentrated on the periods of years 2011/2012 and 2012/2013. Findings from this research revealed that BOU uses UNISS for real time gross settlement (RTGS). Since its adoption a +1 coefficient correlation was realized. With the use of mobile money, also a +1 coefficient correlation was achieved for the period under consideration. As regards the use of e-cheques, there was a drop reflected by -2.8 percent which could have been attributed to perception of the users, though there was a +1 coefficient correlation when considering e-cheque transactions and the monetary value. The use of EFT in Uganda generated a +1 coefficient correction considering the number of users and the monetary value involved. Bank of Uganda should work hard and make or go live with electronic banking supervision software which would aid them with their supervisory roles.

The simulation model is designed to track the variation in the number of subscribers of mobile banking servides according to two scenarios, and the results are as follows; First the effect of word of mouth by customers who have used the service already is significant. The satisfactory level of early adopters is reflected in WOM, and as a test result shows, increase in word-of-mouth causes the growth of potential customers' demands for mobile banking service. • The existing approaches to ensuring the banking security of the state do not take into account the peculiarities of the banking system in the rapid development of the information economy (increasing uncertainty, imbalance and nonlinearity of processes in the banking system under the influence of innovation, institutions, information asymmetry, etc.). A methodological approach to determining the synergetic effect in the implementation of the regulatory influence of the state on the development of innovation processes related to informatization in the banking system, based on the use of differential equations and modelling the sensitivity of innovation processes related to informatization in the banking system, to the regulatory influence of the state to prevent the deployment of risks and threats to economic security of the state in this area has been suggested in the present article.
