  • Automatic repeated recalling from individual computing equipments such as PC and workstations, to access ATM networks may result in call overload to networks. Call overload causes to waste network resources and fail to meet user call processing QoS requirements. We evaluate two call connection request methods: the back-off recall method(BRM) which makes recall with random waiting time after rejection, and the direct recall method(DRM) which repeats call connection request whenever call request is rejected. We evaluate their performances by simulation and it shows that as the total number of attached terminals to each access node increases, BRM performs better than DRM in terms of the call acceptance level and effective network bandwidth utilization.

  • In this study, we developed hybrid control algorithms in smart base stations (SBSs) along with devised communication, caching, and computing techniques. In the proposed scheme, SBSs are equipped with computing power and data storage to collectively offload the computation from mobile user equipment and to cache the data from clouds. To combine in a refined manner the communication, caching, and computing algorithms, game theory is adopted to characterize competitive and cooperative interactions. The main contribution of our proposed scheme is to illuminate the ultimate synergy behind a fully integrated approach, while providing excellent adaptability and flexibility to satisfy the different performance requirements. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can outperform existing schemes by approximately 5% to 15% in terms of bandwidth utilization, access delay, and system throughput.

  • Because a wide variety of multimedia services are provided through personal wireless communication devices, the demand for efficient bandwidth utilization becomes stronger. This demand naturally results in the introduction of the variable bitrate speech coding concept. One exemplary work is the selectable mode vocoder (SMV) that supports speech/music classification. However, because it has severe limitations in its classification performance, a couple of works to improve speech/music classification by introducing support vector machines (SVMs) have been proposed. While these approaches significantly improved classification accuracy, they did not consider correlations commonly found in speech and music frames. In this paper, we propose a novel and orthogonal approach to improve the speech/music classification of SMV codec by adaptively tuning SVMs based on interframe correlations. According to the experimental results, the proposed algorithm yields improved results in classifying speech and music within the SMV framework.

  • To provide fairness among different ONUs in EPON, the upstream channel remains idle for some time after OLT receives the buffer status from all ONUs every cycle, which decreases the utilization and increases the delay. To solve this deficiency, we present a new grant scheduling method. The method consists of dividing ONUs into several sets where OLT can schedule ONUs in one set while others will be transmitting their traffic. This method will better utilize the bandwidth of EPON. The numerical results show that the larger the number of ONU sets is the smaller the minimum overhead becomes.

  • The international mobile telecommunication-2000(IMT-2000) system can support not only the non-realtime multimedia traffic such as data such as data image but also the realtime multimedia traffic such as voice, video. In the paper we propose multicode allocation and handoff schemes for efficient transmission of realtime and non-realtime data in cdma2000. In those schemes the bandwidth of target cell is reserved based on moving direction of mobiles to support QoS of realtime multimedia data and the reserved bandwidths is used by the non-realtime mobiles of the target cell until the mobiles want to perform hadoff. Our framework is able to guarantee QoS continuity of realtime multimedia data and carries the maximum number of subscriber. System performance is evaluated and compared with conventional scheme considering transmission delay channel utilization and blocking probability by computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose the interworking and emulation methods for the interoperability of ABR/ABT capability and algo propose the BCR Re-negotition with State-Dependent (BRSD) mechanism based on the common buffer with two thresholds and the EBCN method when public network hs the ABT capability. As BRSD mechansism has one common buffer for all ABR connectiona and BCR re-negotiation request according to the threshold, it can reduce the queue length and the frequency of ABT BCR re-negotiation. Using EBCN method, BRSD mechanism can prevent the continuous increasing of queue length in the emulation method with the CI bit setting of the ABR performance of the BRSD mechanism in the view poits of the masimum queue length, bandwidth utilization and ABT-BCR re-negotialtion frequency trough the simulation.

  • In this paper, the analysis of practical end-to-end delay in worst case is performed for distributed control system considering the implementation of the system. The control system delay is composed of the delay caused by multi-task scheduling of operating system, the delay caused by network communication, and the delay caused by the asynchronous between them. Through simulation tests based on CAN(Controller Area Network), the proposed end-to-end delay in worst case is validated. Additionally, online clock synchronization algorithm is proposed here for the control system. Through another simulation test, the online algorithm is proved to have better performance than offline one in the view of network bandwidth utilization.

  • In this paper, we propose an Energy Efficient Media Access Control (EE-MAC) protocol for wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme is designed to save power consumption and guarantee quality-of-service for real-time traffic. EE-MAC uses the superframe structure which is bounded by the transmission of a beacon frame and can have an active and an inactive portion. The active period is divided into the contention free period (CFP) for real-time traffic transmission and the contention access period (CAP) for non-real-time traffic transmission. We propose the exclusively allocated backoff scheme which assigns a unique backoff time value to each real-time node based on bandwidth allocation and admission control. This scheme can avoid collision between real-time nodes by controlling distributed fashion and take effect a statistical time division multiple access. We also propose the algorithm to change the duty cycle adaptively according to channel utilization of media depending on network traffic load. This algorithm can prolong network lifetime by reducing the amount of energy wasted on idle listening.

  • In this study, the distributed secondary voltage control of islanded microgrids with multi-agent consensus algorithm is investigated. As an alternative to a time-triggered approach, an event-triggered scheme is proposed to reduce the communication load among inverter-based distributed generators (DGs). The proposed aperiodic control scheme reduced unnecessary utilization of limited network bandwidth without degrading control performance. By properly establishing a distributed triggering condition in DG local controller, each inverter is only required to send voltage information when its own event occurs. The compensation of voltage amplitude deviation can be realized, and redundant data exchange related to fixed high sampling rate can be avoided. Therefore, an efficient use of communication infrastructure can be realized, particularly when the system is operating in steady state. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by simulations on a microgrid test system.

  • The paper presents five strategic opinions for promoting the fourth industry revolution through the supply of 5G additional frequency. The assessments are on the basis of 5G frequency utilization technologies and services, with reference to 3GPP 5G New Radio standards, after investigating the domestic 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile communication services as well as the use of mobile radio frequency and spectrum. The presented opinions contain the frequency supply of contiguous-wide bandwidth channels, harmonized frequency supply between licensed and unlicensed spectrum, the existing 4G frequency recycle for increasing 5G coverage and capacity, balance frequency supply in the multi-band for 5G services, and the development of 5G vertical frequency for industry. The aim is that the presented five strategic opinions can offer guidance for the upcoming plan of domestic 5G additional frequency supply.
