In this paper, we investigate the problem of achieving global optimization for distributed carrier aggregation (CA) in small cell networks, using a game theoretic solution. To cope with the local interference and the distinct cost of intra-band and inter-band CA, we propose a non-cooperation game which is proved as an exact potential game. Furthermore, we propose a spatial adaptive play learning algorithm with heterogeneous learning parameters to converge towards NE of the game. In this algorithm, heterogeneous learning parameters are introduced to accelerate the convergence speed. It is shown that with the proposed game-theoretic approach, global optimization is achieved with local information exchange. Simulation results validate the effectivity of the proposed game-theoretic CA approach.
This paper presents a wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) that is suitable for LTE-Advanced and 5G communication standards employing carrier aggregation (CA). The proposed LNA encompasses a common input stage and a dual output second stage with a buffer at each distinct output. This architecture is targeted to operate in both intra-band (contiguous and non-contiguous) and inter-band CA. In the proposed design, the input and second stages employ a gm enhancement with resistive feedback technique to achieve self-biasing, enhanced gain, wide bandwidth as well as reduced noise figure of the proposed LNA. An up/down power controller controls the single input single out (SISO) and single input multiple outputs (SIMO) modes of operation for inter-band and intra-band operations. The proposed LNA is designed with a 45nm CMOS technology. For SISO mode of operation, the LNA operates from 0.52GHz to 4.29GHz with a maximum power gain of 17.77dB, 2.88dB minimum noise figure and input (output) matching performance better than -10dB. For SIMO mode of operation, the proposed LNA operates from 0.52GHz to 4.44GHz with a maximum voltage gain of 18.30dB, a minimum noise figure of 2.82dB with equally good matching performance. An $IIP_3$ value of -6.7dBm is achieved in both SISO and SIMO operations. with a maximum current of 42mA consumed (LNA+buffer in SIMO operation) from a 1.2V supply.
The quality of satellite imagery should be improved and stabilized to satisfy numerous users. The radiometric characteristics of an optical sensor can be a measure of data quality. In this study, a band aggregation technique and spectral response function of hyperspectral images are used to simulate multispectral images. EO-1 Hyperion and Landsat-8 OLI images acquired with about 30 minutes difference in overpass time were exploited to evaluate radiometric coefficients of OLI. Radiance values of the OLI and the simulated OLI were compared over three subsets covered by different land types. As a result, the index of agreement shows over 0.99 for all VNIR bands although there are errors caused by space/time and sensors.

For the 4th generation mobile communication, LTE-advanced system needs the broad frequency band up to 100MHz for providing the data rate of maximum 1Gpbs. However, it is very difficult to secure the broad frequency band in the current frequency allocation situation. So, carrier aggregation was proposed as the solution, in which several fragmented frequency bands are used at the same time. Basically, multiple parallel receivers are required to get the information data from the different frequency bands but this conventional multi-chain receiver system is very inefficient. Therefore, in this paper, we like to study the single chain system that is able to receive the multi-band signals in a single receiver based on the time division multiplexing (TDM) reception method. This proposed TDM receiver efficiently manage to receive the multi-band signals in time domain and handle the baseband signals with one DSP board. However, the serious distortion could be generated by the sampling timing offset (STO) in the TDM-based system. Therefore, we like to analyze STO effects in the TDM-based system and propose a compensation method using estimated STO. Finally, it is shown by simulation that the proposed method is appropriate for the single chain receiver and show good compensation performance.

3GPP LTE-Advanced (Release 10) system specifies carrier aggregation (CA) to enable high data rate on using multiple frequency bands, including the variout CA-specific deployment scenarios. Considering one of those scenarios in which the different directional sector antenna is employed by each frequency band, we propose a per-carrier cell selection scheme that can improve the average throughput of the cell-edge users by allowing each user equipment (UE) to select the frequency band of the adjacent cell. Furthermore, a distributed algorithm for inter-cell copperative scheduling in this scheme is proposed to support proportional fairness among the cells. It has been shown that the proposed scheduling algorithm for the per-carrier cell selection scheme improves the cell-edge user throughput roughly by 50% over that of the conventional scheme.
We have investigated the effects of formalin on the assembly of colloidal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) prepared by laser ablation of a solid gold target in deionized water. Upon addition of formalin, the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 519 nm for pure AuNPs decreases and shifts to red while a new broad SPR band appears at ~700 nm. The red-shift is prominent with increase in the incubation time. The average size of the initial AuNPs is around 12 nm but it increases to 23 nm after addition of formalin. It turns out that formalin acts as a cationic surfactant for AuNPs with negative surface charge in the colloidal solutions. Furthermore, through analysis of the Raman spectrum of formalin and the density functional theory calculations, we confirm that methanediol is the main species in formalin which is in charge of the aggregation of AuNPs.

With explosion of wireless traffic it is required to further investigate the technologies on acquiring available spectrum resources and on sharing frequency with existing users. In 3GPP, it is started to study on feasibility and functional requirement of LTE standard in order to extend cellular services offered on only licensed band to 5 GHz unlicensed band. Operating scenario on LTE in unlicensed band is focused on carrier aggregation with licensed band, and the coexistence with Wi-Fi services in 5 GHz band is concerned as a major requirement. For a single global solution framework for licensed assisted access to unlicensed spectrum, listen-before-talk(LBT) mechanism of European regulation for fair access to channel under the coexistence environments is currently examined in 3GPP. In this paper, we evaluate two types of LBT, frame based equipment and load based equipment, with considering LTE carrier aggregation feature and performances of file transferred time and throughput.

This paper presents a novel design for dual-band bandpass filters. The proposed filters are applicable to the carrier aggregation of the TV white space (TVWS) band and long-term evolution (LTE) band for cognitive radio applications. The lower passband is the TVWS band (470-698 MHz) whose fractional bandwidth is 40 %, while the higher passband is the LTE band (824-894 MHz) with 8 % fractional bandwidth. Since the two passbands are located very close to each other, a transmission zero is inserted to enhance the rejection level between the two passbands. The TVWS band filter is designed using magnetic coupling to obtain a wide bandwidth, and the LTE band filter is designed using dielectric resonators to achieve good insertion loss characteristics. In addition, in the proposed design, a transmission zero is placed with cross-coupling. The proposed dual-band bandpass filter is designed as a two-port filter (one input/one output) as well as a three-port filter (one common input/two outputs). The measured performances show good agreement with the simulated performances.
Aggregation of titania nanotubes (TNTs) fabricated by hydrothermal method were calcined in air and dry nitrogen; Changes in morphology and crystallinity of the nanotubes were studied by means of TEM, EDX, and XPS. EDX patterns and XPS spectra proved that there were a certain densities of oxygen vacancies in TNTs annealed in $N_2$. The photocatalysis experiments revealed TNTs/$N_2$ possesses significantly higher photocatalytic efficiency than TNTs annealed in dry air to degrade methylene blue. The correlation between oxygen vacancies and photocatalytic property may be attributed to: 1) oxygen vacancies might have affected results on water molecules adsorption and increase of the hydroxyl concentration; and 2) oxygen vacancies resulted in some changes in electronic structure of TNTs/$N_2$ aggregation and Fermi level extends into the conducting band.
