  • As Internet and WWW grow rapidly, the role of web servers is getting more important, and the number of users in a few popular site is also explosively increasing. Load balancing in clustered web server systems is important task to utilize whole system effectively, so dynamic load balancing is required to overcome the limit of static load balancing. In this paper, we propose two dynamic load balancing schemes, and analyzed load model and Performance improvement and also compare existing load balancing methods and IP filtering method. In case of load balancing with threshold, little extra traffic was required for better performance, but in case of load balancing with load weight, we found that the performance mainly depends on information exchange rate.

  • As the application of robotic systems expand its scope, more research efforts are given in providing mobility to the robotic systems so that they can travel across various paths including those with formidable obstacles such as stairways or rough terrains. Legged locomotion is mainly concerned because the walking motion, like that of animal behavior, has many advantages over wheel type or track type locomotion especially in rough terrain. Walking robot, in general, having a discrete number of legs, have inherently low static stability. Static stability can be increased to a certain degree, by improving walking method, but it has many limitations such as reduced travel speed. A very promising possibility lies in the use of balancing weight, nevertheless its actual implementation is very rare. In this study, a 4-legged walking machine is developed and the static stability margin is increased with the balancing weight. In the future, this robot will be used to take an experiment on the walking in mush terrain.

  • The remaining features in this study using the Freecad proceeds according to the overall effect was not supported by the modeling Freecad were conducted a study to complement using the CATIA program or other commercially available. The focus of this study is that there can be obtained the stability through the center of gravity of the balancing of two parts by increasing the weight of the other magnet through a Fortuna other end of the weight of the bar, using the center of gravity. Finally, to find the optimal design of the weight and thickness of the main bar through the center of gravity balancing is the purpose of this study.

  • This paper presented is a case study of a real compressor rotor of a refinery plant for high speed balancing of flexible rotor. The rotor was tested in the expert high-speed balancing facility established by KIMM at early 2004. The capability of the facility can reach 40000rpm in rotation speed and 8 ton in rotor weight for high-speed balancing. The facility performs multi-plane at-speed balancing using influence coefficient from the vibration data measured at two pedestals. The test rotor had exceeded permissible criteria of vibration at initial run. But by processing a low-speed balancing at 1000 rpm and six trial run trying to calculate influence coefficient of rotor to the range of operating speed, the final result of high-speed balancing revealed a remarkable reduce of vibration at pedestal of the rotor.

  • Background Patients having unilateral breast reconstruction often require a second stage procedure on the contralateral breast to improve symmetry. In order to provide immediate symmetry and minimize the frequency and extent of secondary procedures, we began performing simultaneous contralateral balancing operations at the time of initial reconstruction. This study examines the indications, safety, and efficacy of this approach. Methods One-hundred and two consecutive breast reconstructions with simultaneous contralateral balancing procedures were identified. Data included patient age, body mass index (BMI), type of reconstruction and balancing procedure, specimen weight, transfusion requirement, complications and additional surgery under anesthesia. Unpaired t-tests were used to compare BMI, specimen weight and need for non-autologous transfusion. Results Average patient age was 48 years. The majority had autologous tissue-only reconstructions (94%) and the rest prosthesis-based reconstructions (6%). Balancing procedures included reduction mammoplasty (50%), mastopexy (49%), and augmentation mammoplasty (1%). Average BMI was 27 and average reduction specimen was 340 grams. Non-autologous blood transfusion rate was 9%. There was no relationship between BMI or reduction specimen weight and need for transfusion. We performed secondary surgery in 24% of the autologous group and 100% of the prosthesis group. Revision rate for symmetry was 13% in the autologous group and 17% in the prosthesis group. Conclusions Performing balancing at the time of breast reconstruction is safe and most effective in autologous reconstructions, where 87% did not require a second operation for symmetry.

  • The weight of an antenna system pointing satellite on the mobile platform is restricted by the weight limit of the mobile platform. The maximum power of the actuator driving the antenna system is thus limited because a high power actuator needs a heavier weight. Thus, a drive system is designed to have a low torque requirement by reducing the gravitational torque depending on gravity or acceleration of the mobile platform, including vibration, shock, and accelerated motion. To reduce the gravitational torque, the mathematical model of the gravitational torque is preferentially obtained. However, the method to directly estimate the mathematical model in an antenna system has not previously been reported. In this paper, a method is proposed to estimate the gravitational torque as a mathematical model in the antenna system. Additionally, a method is also proposed to calculate the optimal weight of the balancing weight to compensate for the gravitational torque.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the balancing training effect on weight bearing ratio and postural sway on the unstable surface for the CVA patients with balance disability. The inclusion criteria were walking independently 20m distances. Eighteen subjects, 4 with right and 14 with left hemiplegic patients were participated in this study. The range of age was from 35 to 75 and the duration from onset time was from 1 to 38 months. The intervention program including balancing training that they were introduced for 10 minutes every other day during 12 weeks to experimental group, and general therapeutic exercise to control group. The result of this study were as following; 1. The balancing training on the unstable surface showed that the postural sway of left/right distribution would appear more effective on sitting with eyes opened. 2. The balancing training on the unstable surface showed that the postural sway of forward/rear distribution, left/right distribution and distance would appear more effective on standing with eyes opened. 3. The balancing training on unstable surface would increase more effective on the weight-bearing ratio of left/right difference and frequency. 4. The balancing training on unstable surface was statistical significant on the postural sway of left/right distribution and area in experimental group. and it was statistical significant on the postural sway of forward/rear distribution, left/right distribution and distance in control group, too.

  • In this paper we propose a load balancing scheme for heterogeneous multiple AS's (Application Server) in IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) based network. In IMS network, to perform load balancing among multiple ASs with different registration pattern, different weight value should be set for each AS. In previous systems, there exists an inconvenience that the weight value should be set manually by the operator after monitoring the result. In this paper we propose a method to calculate optimal weight in automatic manner and to perform load balancing simultaneously. We also propose a simplified algorithm to reduce calculation in specific situation and present a way to apply our proposed scheme in adaptive manner according to the situation. Through simulation result, we verify that our proposing scheme outperforms previous schemes in load balancing and adjusts well to the change of the system in automatic manner with fast convergence.

  • This case is intended to present the effectiveness of TMJ balance therapy, which normalizes the yin-yang balance of the cranial nervous system, including the meridian system. Temporomandibular joint balance therapy was performed on growing children with occlusal abnormalities, and clinical results were measured through specific observation of height and weight. The patient showed improvement in deep bite and satisfactory increase in growth after treatment. From these observations, it can be inferred that temporomandibular joint balance therapy has a positive effect not only on the brain nervous system but also on the action of pituitary hormones. For a more accurate evaluation, clinical and biological research on temporomandibular joint balance therapy (TBT) is needed.
