From the four tuna purse seiners operating in the western equatorial Pacific waters 370 tuna schools were sampled on attribute of the school, fishing operation of purse seine sit and catch. The data were tabulated and subjected to the statistical tests of independency on the associated object and availability of the school, and catch per set of purse seine fishery as well. The resultant inferences are as follows. 1. Most frequent attributes of the tuna schools found on the surface are associated with sea birds, bait fishes and the flotsams. 2. In fishing operations of purse seine sets on the flotsam-associated schools, the settings were more frequently performed at dawn than in day-time. In fishing operations on the sea-birds-associated schools, the siftings were more frequent in day-time than at dawn. 3. From the flotsam-associated schools the successful sets were significantly more frequent. 4. In the fishing operations of purse seine sets, some of the flotsam-associated schools were subjected to the supplementary sets in success to the initial sets until the schools were consummated. 5. The fish-attracting effect of the flotsam is correlated with structure of the flotsam, but not with length of the flotsam. The flotsams, which tend to attract large tuna schools are the complicated-structure flotsams, i, e. driftwoods with roots or branches or with both of them, otherwise a bunch of uprooted bamboo shrubs, while a log without roots and branches tend to be an attractant inferior to the flotsam of complicated structure.
The chances of disease pattern increased the importance of Health-promoting Lifestyle and a large part of the Health-promoting Lifestyle is associated with individual's habit. Health-promoting Lifestyle among nurses is very important because nurses could be a role model of patients and possibly influence many patients. The purpose of this study was oat on1y to assess how hospital nurses practice their Health-promoting Lifestyle but also to identify those affecting determinants. The subjects were 392 nurses working at 3 different hospital in Seoul. These data were collected by self administered questionnaire from April 27 to May 20, 2000. This study examined Health-promoting Lifestyle using In Sook Park's model, individual characteristics. Behavior-specific Cognitions and Affect factors using Pender's model and tried to fine out their relationships. The instruments used in this study were Health-promoting Lifestyle Profile developed by In Sock Park(1995). Likert's four-point scale was used also in this research. The percentage, mean standard deviation, AVNOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression in the SAS package were used to analyze the data. The results of this study were as follows; 1. 52.3% of sample were aged between 25 and 29, 67.1% were single, 55.6% were university graduates, 51.8% earned 1.5 to 2.0 million won, 57.9% slept for d to 8 hours, 74.5% stated they were healthy. 2. 32.7% of sample worked in surgical gird department, 82.4% worked in 3 shift, 26.3% have been working as nurses for 5 to 7 years. Average score of Perceived self-efficacy was 3.63, Perceived benefits of action was 3.25, Social support was 2.75, and Perceived barriers to action was 1.87 which was the lowest score. 3. The average score if the performance in Health-promoting Lifestyle variable was 2.45 which was lower than previous study. The sanitary life Was 3.18 which was the highest score, harmonious relationship 3.13, emotional support 2.90. The variable with the highest degree of performance was the sanitary life, whereas the one with the west degree was the health diet. 4. There were no significant difference in perceived benefits of action with individual's a character, but in Perceived bait his of action there were significant differences with age(p<.01), marital status(p<.05), housing(p<.05), and Perceived health status(p<.05). In Perceived self-efficacy, there were significant differences with educational level(p<05), sleeping hours(p<.05), and BMI(p<.05). In Social support here were significant difference with housing and sleeping hours.

Artificially-produced juvenile black sea bream, Acanthopagrus schlegeli (total length $10.4{\pm}1.1\;cm$, body weight $18.7{\pm}3.4\;g$) were released into the Gamak Bay in Korea. And their initial feeding habits and body compositions were compared with those of cultured fish (CUL) for a period of one month after release. The released black sea bream commenced feeding on the 1st day after release, and predation rate was more than 80% during the sampling period. The stomach content of fish was composed of mainly fishing bait and krill in fish sampled on 15th days after release; however, its content changed to the natural organisms such as algae and small crustaceans when the fish was sampled on 20th days after release. Crude lipid content of carcass of fish in the sampling station A (SA) were lower than that of fish in the initial, sampling station B (SB) and CUL for the 5th and 10th days after release. Carcass n-3 HUFA composition, total amino acid and essential amino acid contents of released fish showed high trend compared to that of cultured fish in 30th days after release. The released fish have the ability to adjust their feeding habits and biochemical metabolism to the natural environment within a short period even though they showed preference to artificial feed in the early days after release.

Preliminary creel-holding test of live anchovies which are to be used as bait for the skipjact fishery, was conducted on the fish caught by set net and lift net. They were held in the creels constructed with bamboo frame and minnow netting, during the period of Oct. 24-Nov. 28 in 1972. If was found that the survival rate of the creel-held anchovies varied by the size of fish, the towed distance and speed of fish-carrying creel in which the fish were accomodated after catchi. 1. The survival rate of the medium size anchovies, 7.8-9.6cm in length and 4.6-4.8 g in weight, was $70-92\%$ during the holding period of 20-35 days. Whereas, only $16\%$ of juvenile anchovies, 5.3cm in length and 1.0 g in weight, were survived for 19 hours after catch. 2. During the time of transport, the farther and faster the creel containing fish were towed, the less fish were survived in the subsequent holding period. 3. Though both the set net and lift net could be fairly used to catch live anchovy, no decision between these two gears could be made in this experiment to determine the superiorness for the subsequent survival rate.
Korea started the Atlantic tuna fishery from 1964 by means of longline, then added bait-boats in 1972. Both fisheries have given the top priority to catch yellowfin tuna(Thunnus albacares). The paper reviews available catch, effort and biological data, estimates some population parameters in order to understand the status of the Atlantic yellowfin tuna as a whole. The main findings are summarized as follows: 1. The total of 476 million hook-equivalent fishing effort was thrown to catch yellowfin tuna in 1974, among which one thired was shared by longliners. 2. The dominant age group becomes younger in both surface and longline fisheries. 3. The recent mortality coefficients were calculated as 1.5 for total mortality and 0.7 for fishing mortality. 4. The weight at recruitment was 2.7 kg in 1973 which was smaller than the regulation size(3.2kg) proposed by ICCAT. 5. The maximum sustained yield was calculated to 95-145 thousand metric tons, which was the level of recent catch. Therefore, it is apparent that the present yellowfin tuna fishery should continue to receive close attention.
LBH is a transcription factor as a candidate gene for CHD associated with partial trisomy 2p syndrome. To identify potential LBH-interacting partners, a yeast two-hybrid screen using LBH as a bait was performed with a human heart cDNA library. One of the clones identified encodes ${\alpha}B$-crystallin. Co-immunoprecipitation and GST pull-down assays showed that LBH interacts with ${\alpha}B$-crystallin, which is further confirmed by mammalian two-hybrid assays. Co-localization analysis showed that in COS-7 cells, ${\alpha}B$-crystallin that is cytoplasmic alone, accumulates partialy in the nucleus when co-transfected with LBH. Transient transfection assays indicated that overexpression of LBH or ${\alpha}B$-crystallin reduced the transcriptional activities of p53 and p21, respectively, Overexpression of both ${\alpha}B$-crystallin and LBH together resulted in a stronger repression of the transcriptional activities of p21 and p53. These results showed that the interaction of LBH and ${\alpha}B$-crystallin may inhibit synergistically the transcriptional regulation of p53 and p21.
The fresh_water shrimp, Palaemon modestua is one of the most important types of bait f[r fishing and can be found abundantly in the Nak-Dong River. The larval development of Palaemon modestua in the laboratory was reported by Liu (1949), Kown and Uno (1968), but they didn't give any ecological features in the natural environments. Shrimps were collected from the Nak-Dong River near Pusan, once a month from July to December 1953 and from February to June 1969 respectively. The following is a summary of the results: 1. They breed from April to September, mainly in July. 2. A generation of this type of shrimps appears to be approximately one year and after breeding they die off up untill the end of October. 3. The sex ratio (female=100) is $44.2\~95.5$ (mean 78.5) and goes down during spawning seasons. 4. The minimum size of the ovigerous female is approximately 0.5 gram in body weight, 29mm in body length and 7mm in carapace length. 5. Most shrimps of $31\~41mm$ In body length lay eggs. 6. The relationship between the boby length (X) and the number of eggs (Y) is: $$Y=0.0000203937X^{3.5668}$$ 7. The relationship between the body length (X) and the body weight (Y) is: $$Y=0.099801X^{2.85407}$$ in female. $$Y=0.004198X^{3.40614}$$ in Male. 8. The relationship between the carapace length (X) and the body weight (Y) is: $$Y=5.56008X^{2.25503}$$ in female. $$Y=5.09541X^{2.28875}$$ in male. 9. The relationship between the carapace length (X) and the body length (Y) is: Y= 5.07540+3.36057X in female. Y=4.90514+3.47791X in male.
The hepatitis C virus is associated with the development of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinomas. Among the 10 polyproteins produced by the virus, no function has been clearly assigned to the non-structural 5A (NS5A) protein. This study was designed to identify the hepatocellular proteins that interact with NS5A of the HCV. Yeast two-hybrid experiments were performed with a human liver cDNA prey-library, using five different NS5A derivatives as baits, the full-length NS5A (NS5A-F, amino acid (aa) 1~447) and its four different derivatives, denoted as NS5A-A (aa 1~150), -B (aa 1~300), -C (aa 300~447) and D (aa 150~447). NS5A-F, NS5A-B and NS5A-C gave two, two and 10 candidate clones, respectively, including an AHNAK-related protein, the secreted frizzled-related protein 4 (SFRP4), the N-myc downstream regulated gene 1 (NDRG1), the cellular retinoic acid binding protein 1 (CRABP-1), ferritin heavy chain (FTH1), translokin, tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 2 (TACSTD2), phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase (PI4K) and $centaurin{\delta}$ 2 ($CENT{\delta}2$). However, NS5A-A produced no candidates and NS5A-D was not suitable as bait due to transcriptional activity. Based on an in vitro binding assay, CRABP-1, PI4K, $CENT{\delta}2$ and two unknown fusion proteins with maltose binding protein (MBP), were confirmed to interact with the glutathione S-transferase (GST)/NS5A fusion protein. Furthermore, the interactions of CRABP-1, PI4K and $CENT{\delta}2$ were not related to the PXXP motif (class II), as judged by a domain analysis. While their biological relevance is under investigation, the results contribute to a better understanding of the possible role of NS5A in hepatocellular signaling pathways.
The purpose of this study was to determine protein amino acid contents of some Korean foods by gas-liquid chromatography, and to evaluate this technique as a procedure for the quantitative determination of amino acids in foods. The crude protein content of foods was also estimated from the nitrogen content. 1. Nitrogen content of each food sample was determined previously to adjust the amount of sample for GLC analysis 2. In the analysis of 17 known amino acids, a linear relationship was found between the weight of 13 amino acids of 17 amino acids, the internal standard as well as the injection volume of a mixture and the detector responses for the derivatives of the amino acids. No response for arginine, cystein, histidine, and tyrosine was observed. 3. The relative molar response (RMR) values for the 13 amino acids of standard solution relative to glutamic acid as '1.00' were obtained under normal operating conditions with a hydrogen flame ionization detector. 4. The recovery of amino acids from their mixtures with natural food materials was carried out. The recoveries were essentially quantitative except threonine and serine. An overall mean recovery of 11 amino acids was $101.4{\pm}8.4$ per cent before hydrolysis and $98.1{\pm}8.7$ per cent after hydrolysis of samples. 5. The comparative analysis of the acid hydrolysates of two food samples by gas-liquid and ion-exchange chromatographic analysis were carried out. In white-bait pemmican, only threonine and asparagine amounts by GLC analysis had similar values to those obtained by ion-exchange chromatography. The other seven amino acids gave higher values as measured by GLC than by ion-exchange. With the food sample, soybean, alanine, valine, asparagine, and glutamic acid were in good agreement in two analysis, while leucine, proline, threonine, phenylalanine, and lysine were found in slightly higher concentrations in the GLC analysis. 6. Grant variations of amino acid content were found among samples analyzed. The amino acid contents of each sample were compared with the values found in the literature.
Investigation of chemically synthesized inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate [$Ins(1,4,5)P_3$] analogs has led to the isolation of a novel binding protein with a molecular size of 130 kDa, characterized as a molecule with similar domain organization to phospholipase C-${\delta}1$ (PLC-${\delta}1$) but lacking the enzymatic activity. An isoform of the molecule was subsequently identified, and these molecules have been named PRIP (PLC-related, but catalytically inactive protein), with the two isoforms named PRIP-1 and -2. Regarding its ability to bind $Ins(1,4,5)P_3$ via the pleckstrin homology domain, the involvement of PRIP-1 in $Ins(1,4,5)P_3$-mediated $Ca^{2+}$ signaling was examined using COS-1 cells overexpressing PRIP-1 and cultured neurons prepared from PRIP-1 knock-out mice. Yeast two hybrid screening of a brain cDNA library using a unique N-terminus as bait identified GABARAP ($GABA_A$ receptor associated protein) and PP1 (protein phosphatase 1), which led us to examine the possible involvement of PRIP in $GABA_A$ receptor signaling. For this purpose PRIP knock-out mice were analyzed for $GABA_A$ receptor function in relation to the action of benzodiazepines from the electrophysiological and behavioral aspects. During the course of these experiments we found that PRIP also binds to the b-subunit of $GABA_A$ receptors and PP2A (protein phosphtase 2A). Here, we summarize how PRIP is involved in $Ins(1,4,5)P_3$-mediated $Ca^{2+}$ signaling and $GABA_A$ receptor signaling based on the characteristics of binding molecules.
