  • The interdisciplinary study explores the Euler's theology through his mathematical landmarks. From the mathematico-theological perspective, we first address Euler's theological backgrounds, and then show the implications of Euler's identity as his mathematical Christology.

  • This paper investigated the influence of foreign words, otherwise known as loan words, on global communication abilities of university students from two non English-speaking countries: Korea and Japan. To survey the understanding and usage of foreign words which are from English language and used frequently in daily conversation, questionnaires were administered to Korean and Japanese university students majoring in engineering who shared similar linguistic backgrounds. The results were analyzed from global communication viewpoint. Based on the results, methods for improving global communication skills in engineering education were proposed.

  • We discuss some aspects of mathematics for teachers such as algebra for teachers, geometry for teachers, statistics for teachers, etc., which can be taught in teacher preparation courses. Mathematics for teachers should consider the followings: (a) Various solutions for a problem, (b) The dynamics of a problem introduced by change of condition, (c) Relationship of mathematics to real life, (d) Mathematics history and historical issues, (e) The difference between pure mathematics and pedagogical mathematics, (f) Understanding of the theoretical backgrounds, and (g) Understanding advanced mathematics.

  • In this paper, we first propose a modified OS CFAR detector called the order statistics cell averaging(OSCA) CFAR detector and anlyze its performance for a Rayleigh target in homogeneous backgrounds, clutter edges, and satistics smallest of(OSSO) CFAR detectors for a Rayleigh target to nonhomogeneous environments. Computer simulation results show that the OSCA CFAR detector has superior performance to OS, OSGO, and OSSO CFAR detectors in homogeneous and multiple target environments. And the proposed detector shows its robustness for fast detection because it requires falf the processing time of the OS CFAR detector.

  • The acceptance of enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in the industries is essential to enhance the enterprise-wide productivity and global competitiveness. In this study, we first describe the needs for the ERP system and the structural backgrounds of the system. Then we suggest our strategies for the implementation of the standard ERP system under the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

  • The purpose of this study is to show the operations and implementations of ASP web database which uses open-source web site packages called bighitonline video shop. Some literature reviews have been done to reveal robust theoretical background for this research And also, some basic experiments as Preparatory Processes have also been made by using some softwares such as Windows XP professional, IIS, MS SQL Server and others. The main purpose of these experiments is to show strong theoretical and practical backgrounds. These experimental results in the micro-level showed to be successful to understand the Interrelations of web components and web-site architectures.

  • Slope soil formation and its attributes in southwestern Wisconsin are potentially important due to its origin, landscape position and karstic backgrounds (Oh, 1990). Since French explorers and missionaries reached in southwestern Wisconsin in the 1830's, the loess mantled karst upland surfaces, consisted of forests: timberland, oak openings, and prairie, had been cultivated. At present, nearly 90% of the ridge land is in farms. Karst soils are usually reddish clayey features (Oh and Day, 1989).(omitted)

  • Calcium isotopic ratios are precisely measured by removing isobaric interferences originated from water in the plasma. Liquid Ar cryogenic trap combined with membrane desolvator could eliminate backgrounds at m/z 42 and 44. Slow drift of ICP-MS is corrected by the frequent running of the standards. It is found necessary to separate Ca from the sample matrix using Ca oxalate precipitation technique. Currently, the RSD is 0.5-1.0% for 2 minutes of measurement but is expected to be improved if the measurement time is increased. The technique was applied to 42Ca enriched baby fecal samples and successfully determined 42Ca/44Ca ratio changes.

  • The importance of noodles in Korean diet is becoming greater in recent years. This article is an overview on a variety of Korean noodles including dried noodle, naengmyeon (buckwheat noodle), dangmyeon (starch noodle) and instant fried noodle. It gives also the background information on the changes of the definition of noodles. Since Koreans are the largest consumer of instant fried noodles per capita in the world, primary emphasis was placed on the development history of instant fried noodles.

  • Rg3 is a derivative of triterpenoid dammarane, which originally extracted from Red Ginseng, which have been known to have neuroprotective, vasodilator, antioxidative, antimetastasis, and direct anticancer effects. These various backgrounds of Rg3 can provide an additional interest in respect to the “hematopoiesis” in bone marrow and spleen cells. We, therefore, have investigated what effects and correlates of Rg3 (e.g. suppression and side effects) are affected in relation with the bone marrow and spleen cells of mouse. (omitted)
