This paper deals with a transportation problem with two objectives, that is, transportation cost and vital-route shipment. In the transportation problem minimizing cost is sometimes conflicting minimizing vital-route shipment. This paper develops an algorithm finding paneto-optimal solutions in minimizing vital-route shipment and cost, and also presents theoretical backgrounds for developing an algorithm.

This paper presents a fuzzy-based method for classification skin color object in a complex background under varying illumination Parameters of fuzzy rule base are generated using a genetic algorithm(GA). The color model is used in the YCbCr color space. We propose a unique fuzzy system in order to accommodate varying background color and illumination condition This fuzzy system approach to skin color classification is discussed along with an overview of YCbCr color space.

This paper uses a composite difficulties model developed by the author (Bao 2002a, 2002b) to compare the characteristics of two sample mathematics tests in China and UK. The initial findings were described through five difficulty factors on several difficulty levels. According the initial findings, the author then tries to analyze the styles of mathematics problem-solving and the curriculum backgrounds in these two countries.

In this paper, we propose a human face detection algorithm using adaptive skin color model and neural networks. To attain robustness in the changes of illumination and variability of human skin color, we perform a color segmentation of input image by thresholding adaptively in modified hue-saturation color space (TSV). In order to distinguish faces from other segmented objects, we calculate invariant moments for each face candidate and use the multilayer perceptron neural network of backpropagation algorithm. The simulation results show superior performance for a variety of poses and relatively complex backgrounds, when compared to other existing algorithm.

This paper describes an implementation of fast face detection algorithm. This algorithm can robustly detect human faces with unknown sizes and positions in complex backgrounds. This paper provides a powerful face detection algorithm using skin color segmenting. Skin Color is modeled by a Gaussian distribution in the HSI color space among different persons within the same race, Oriental. The main feature of the Algorithm is achieved face detection robust to illumination changes and a simple adaptive thresholding technique for skin color segmentation is employed to achieve robust face detection.

In this paper, the behaviour of charge carriers near the metal/polymer interface and its effects on conduction and breakdown phenomena are discussed. The metal/polymer interface strongly affects carrier injection, space charge formation and breakdown phenomena. Based on their experimental results, the physical backgrounds of the interfacial phenomena are explained.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distinctiveness and problem areas in cataloging rules of sound recordings. In this study, therefore, the characteristics and kinds of sound recordings and the cataloging rules related to sound recordings in non-book cataloging rules are examined first as the backgrounds. Then the sources of information, general material designation, physical description, choice of headings, and uniform titles in ISBD(NBM)·AACR2R·AECT4 and KORMARC(NBM) are analyzed. And the special issues and some problems to be considered in cataloging of sound recordings are presented.

This study investigates the antecedents of the complaining behaviors and complaint responses of the library and information center users based on the theoretical backgrounds and suggests eight propositions and conceptual model for the library and information center. It examines as the antecedents, satisfaction/dissatisfaction, attitude toward complaining, likelihood of success, materials/facilities/service importance, attribution, loyalty, and justices; and as complaint responses. exit, voice(redress seeking), negative word-of-mouth, and third party complaints.

In this paper, we consider the abstraction of mathematics and arts. In particular, we compare cave arts of Palaeolith stone ages with those of Neolith stone ages and analyze paintings of a child. After the Middle ages, in Renaissance period the new technique, perspective was introduced by painters for the sake of realistic description. We consider the social background of perspective. In 19th century, European society became familiar with the abstraction of mathematics and arts. And we also study the mathematical concepts and the abstract paintings on the basis of the social backgrounds.

The purpose of thesis is to examine the two aspects of realities and fear of criminal victimization in the old. It also intends to provide useful date for criminal victimization prevention strategies and looks for alternatives promoting social welfare of the old in our society. For this, some important theories about criminal victimization and compensating of crime victims are reviewed as theoretical backgrounds. In addition to theoretical reviews, to identify realities of criminal victimization and fear of crime among the old, empirical survey was conducted using questionnaires about 200 respondents of 60 years old in Taegu.
