  • This paper presents a hole-filling algorithm based on extrapolating spatial-temporal background information used in view synthesis for free-viewpoint television. A new background codebook is constructed and updated in order to extract reliable temporal background information. In addition, an estimation of spatial local background values is conducted to discriminate an adaptive boundary between the background region and the foreground region as well as to update the information about the hole region. The holes then are filled by combining the spatial background information and the temporal background information. In addition, an exemplar-based inpainting technique is used to fill the rest of holes, in which a priority function using background-depth information is defined to determine the order in which the holes are filled. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed algorithm outperformed the other comparative methods about average 0.3-0.6 dB, and that it synthesized satisfactory views regardless of video characteristics and type of hole region.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare overall educational belief and teacher's job satisfaction of day-care teachers. The subject of this were 112 day-care teachers in the Jeonbuk areas. The data were collected using Questionaries and analyzed by the statistical methods of frequencies, percentages, a Chi-square, ANOVA with SPSS pc program: The research Questions were as follows; 1. As the result of the investigation that what is the educational belief of the day-care theacher according to the marital status, academic background, the type of license, and the type of day-care centers\ulcorner 2. Is there any difference in teacher's job satisfaction of day-care teachers according to teachers education belief\ulcorner The main results of this study were as follows: 1. There was not difference in the teacher's educational belief of day-care teachers according to the marital status, academic background, the type of license, and the type of day-care centers in the Jeonbuk province. 2. Day-care teachers who have maturationism education belief was more than behaviorism education belief and interactionism education belief. 3. In the difference between teacher's belief of day-care teachers and job satisfaction of day-care teachers, the teacher who has interactionism, maturationism educationa belief has higher job satisfaction than the teacher who has behaviorism educational belief.

  • To predict the background level of harmonics produced by household appliances, information on the site, capacity, and usage pattern of these loads arenecessary. However, as household appliances are distributed widely and various in type, it is difficult to know these kinds of information accurately. This paper presents a method for estimation of background level of harmonics produced by distributed harmonic sources with readily available data. Large industrial customers are excluded from this study. In this paper, customers are grouped into three classes, i.e. residential, commercial, and industrial. Typical customers for each class are assumed and characteristics of their equipments are modeled. As the proposed method does not require harmonic measurement, it can be employed to forecast voltage total harmonic distribution (VTHD) in the future. An illustrative example is described.

  • In multi-dimensional image, ICA-based feature extraction algorithm, which is proposed in this paper, is for the purpose of detecting target feature about pixel assumed as a linear mixed spectrum sphere, which is consisted of each different type of material object (target feature and background feature) in spectrum sphere of reflectance of each pixel. Landsat ETM+ satellite image is consisted of multi-dimensional data structure and, there is target feature, which is purposed to extract and various background image is mixed. In this paper, in order to eliminate background features (tidal flat, seawater and etc) around target feature (laver farm) effectively, pixel spectrum sphere of target feature is projected onto the orthogonal spectrum sphere of background feature. The rest amount of spectrum sphere of target feature in the pixel can be presumed to remove spectrum sphere of background feature. In order to make sure the excellence of feature extraction method based on ICA, which is proposed in this paper, laver farm feature extraction from Landsat ETM+ satellite image is applied. Also, In the side of feature extraction accuracy and the noise level, which is still remaining not to remove after feature extraction, we have conducted a comparing test with traditionally most popular method, maximum-likelihood. As a consequence, the proposed method from this paper can effectively eliminate background features around mixed spectrum sphere to extract target feature. So, we found that it had excellent detection efficiency.

  • In order to control the genetic background noise in QTL mapping, cofactor markers were incorporated in single marker analysis (SMACO) and interval mapping (CIM). A simulation was performed to see how effective the cofactors were by the number of QTL, the number and the type of markers, and the marker spacing. The results of QTL mapping for the simulated data showed that the use of cofactors was slightly effective when detecting a single QTL. On the other hand, a considerable improvement was observed when dealing with more than one QTL. Genetic background noise was efficiently absorbed with linked markers rather than unlinked markers. Furthermore, the efficiency was different in QTL mapping depending on the type of linked markers. Well-chosen markers in both SMACO and CIM made the range of linkage position for a significant QTL narrow and the estimates of QTL effects accurate. Generally, 3 to 5 cofactors offered accurate results. Over-fitting was a problem with many regressor variables when the heritability was small. Various marker spacing from 4 to 20 cM did not change greatly the detection of multiple QTLs, but they were less efficient when the marker spacing exceeded 30 cM. Likelihood ratio increased with a large heritability, and the threshold heritability for QTL detection was between 0.30 and 0.05.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate emotional images and preference of knitwear by tone on tone combination. The subjects were 357 university students in Daejeon and Chungnam province, and the measuring instruments were 6 stimuli manipulated by color and tone combination type of background and pattern in the tone and tone combination, and self-administrated questionnaires consisted of emotional images items, preference items, and subjects' demographics attributions. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, MANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, four factors (attractiveness, conspicuity, mildness, and activity) are emerged on emotional images of knitwear. Second, color had main effects on emotional images and preference. Gray color was perceived as most attractive image and more preferred than others. Third, tone combination type had some effects on emotional images. Vivid tone background/light tone pattern was perceived more attractive image but less conspicuous and mild than light tone background/vivid tone pattern. Forth, subjects' gender had an effects on conspicuous image. Male was perceived more conspicuous image on knitwear stimuli than female. Fifth, color and subjects' gender had interaction effects on attractiveness image and preference. Male perceived that blue is more attractive and preferred than female.

  • An image processing algorithm is developed in order to recognize the type of cars, the position of a number plate and the characters on the plate. to recognize the type of cars, comparison of two images is used. One has a car image, the other is just a background image without car. After that recognition, a vertical line filter is used to find the location of the plate. Finally the simularity mehod is used to recognize the numbers on plates.

  • In the framework of linear perturbation theory and linear approximation of spacetime anisotropy, we investigated the formulae for the CMBR temperature anisotropy and fluctuation spectrum which have their origin in the primordial tensor perturbations of the perturbed Bianchi type I universe model. The resulting formulae were compared with those of the flat Friedmann model.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between CIO's characteristics and CIO's role. The CIO's characteristics include CEO/CIO relationship, CIO's power in his/her organization, hire type of CIO, and career background of CIO. The results of this study are as follows: part of the CIO's characteristics has a positive relationship with the CIO's role. In other words, the CIO's role is influenced by the CEO/CIO relationship, the CIO's power, and the hire type of CIO. However, the relationship between the career background of the CIO and the CIO's role is not statistically significant.
