정사각 기둥주위의 공기흐름 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of the Air Flow around Square Prism)

  • Experimental investigation on the characteristics of the air flow around a square prism located in a uniform flow with various angles of attack was carried out. Experimental results were obtained for the angle of attack from 0 .deg. to 45 .deg. and for Reynolds No. from $2.6{\times}^4$to $12.8^4$. Seperation and reattachment was occurred on the forward face (face AB). Reattachment phenomenon was not developed in the range of attack angle lower 13 .deg. . But, for the range, 13 .deg. .approx. 35 .deg. , the reattachment developed and its position was moved forward the angle of attack increases. Pressure distributions on the reattachment face has a maxium at the reattachment point and a minimum at the separation point. Pressurea on two back faces are nearly symmetric in spite of the changes of the angle of attack and are influenced by the turbulence in rearward flow field.

상류측 교란요소가 스윙형 역지밸브의 성능에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Upstream Disturbances on the Performance of Swing Check Valves)

  • The effect of the upstream flow conditions on the disc stability of the swing check valves was investigated at various upstream flow disturbance sources and distances from the tested check valves. The experimental loop was designed and installed to measure the disc positions, disc back stop load, and differential pressure at flow velocities lot 3 inch and 6 inch swing check valves. The selected disturbance sources are elbow and globe valve. The effect of the disc fluctuation is different depending on the type of disturbance and the distance between the disturbance and the check valve. Disturbances generated by elbow and globe valve located upstream from check valve create greater and more violent disc motion than uniform flow.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was carried out to investigate exhaust gas flow and acoustic characteristics in the exhaust system of a passenger car. Transient 3-dimensional flow field in the front and rear mufflers was simulated by CFD and far-field sound pressure was modeled by a simple monopole source method. Engine performance simulation was also performed to obtain the boundary condition of instantaneous fluid flow variation at the inlet of the exhaust system. Detailed exhaust gas flow characteristics such as velocity and pressure distribution inside the mufflers were presented and the pulsating pressure amplitude was compared at several positions in the exhaust system to deduce sound pressure level. The present method of the acoustic analysis coupled with CFD techniques would be very effective for the prediction of sound noise from vehicle exhaust systems although the effects of the inlet boundary condition and heat transfer on the accuracy of the prediction have to be validated through further studies.

전자유압 서보 유량제어밸브의 설계 및 동특성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design and the Dynamic Characteristics of Electro-Hydraulic Flow Control Servo Valve)

  • An experimental and theoretical analysis for the improvement of dynamic characteristics and design of electro-hydraulic flow control servo valve are performed. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental step responses, and the important design parameters of an electro-hydraulic flow control servo valve are derived by using the simulation program. Simulation parameters of nozzle jet coefficient and orifice and spool valve discharge coefficient are given through experiment. The theoretical and experimental step response curves show that the valve gain depends on the fixed orifice and nozzle $ratio(R_on)$ and is maximum at $R_on=1.$ And drain orifice in the flapper - nozzle return line creates a small back pressure, which improves the performance fur the valve.

  • In this study, the characteristic of a vane pump of an automative power steering system is numerically analyzed. The vane pump changes the energy level of operation fluid by converting mechanical input power to hydraulic output. To simulate this mechanism, moving mesh technique is adopted. As a result, the flow rate and pressure are obtained by numerical analysis. The flow rate agrees well with the experimental data. Moreover, the variation and oscillation of the pressure around the rotating vane are confirmed. The difference of pressure appears in the vane tip as a result of the flow characteristics. Furthermore, the back flow into the rotor was observed.

Modeling properties of self-compacting concrete: support vector machines approach

  • The paper explores the potential of Support Vector Machines (SVM) approach in predicting 28-day compressive strength and slump flow of self-compacting concrete. Total of 80 data collected from the exiting literature were used in present work. To compare the performance of the technique, prediction was also done using a back propagation neural network model. For this data-set, RBF kernel worked well in comparison to polynomial kernel based support vector machines and provide a root mean square error of 4.688 (MPa) (correlation coefficient=0.942) for 28-day compressive strength prediction and a root mean square error of 7.825 cm (correlation coefficient=0.931) for slump flow. Results obtained for RMSE and correlation coefficient suggested a comparable performance by Support Vector Machine approach to neural network approach for both 28-day compressive strength and slump flow prediction.

  • Flow pump technique was used in order to determine the soil-water characteristic curve of weathered granite soils in Pocheon area. This technique enables measurement to be more convenient and accurate as it is based on the CU condition of triaxial compression test. Besides, it is also able to measure dry and moisture curves continuously since the test is controled by means of a computer automatically. In this study, not only a hydraulic conductivity of weathered granite soils at fully saturated state in Pocheon area, but also a soil-water characteristic curve throughout unsaturate flow tests were determined. In addition, Brooks and Corey's model and Genuchten's model were used to simulate the soil-water characteristic curve. On the basis of the simulation an unsaturate hydraulic conductivity was predicted.

하드 디스크 드라이브 내부의 유동장에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Prediction of Flow Field in a Hard Disk Drive)

  • Flow field in a hard disk drive has been predicted numerically. Theoretical model was constructed based on a commercially available hard disk drive with 40 Mega byte capacity. Since the gap between disk tip and shroud is not homogeneous in real hard disk drive, three kinds of gap size have been tested as computational model. The discussion has been made on the circumferential velocity, radial velocity, and pressure fields. As a result, the average shear stress on the disk surface was reduced as the gap size decreased. This means that the shroud should be designed compactly to reduce power consumption of the spindle motor.

  • 이번 연구에서는 de Laval nozzle를 이용하여 다양한 유체해석 모델과 프로그램을 비교하여 그 성능을 파악하였다. de Laval nozzle은 eigenvalue에 의해 eigenvector값이 '-'와 '+'값을 동시에 갖는 물리현상을 내포하고 있으며, 압력조건에 따라 내부에서 Normal shock이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 non-linearity를 현재 우리가 주로 사용하고 있는 상용프로그램(cfx, fluent)과 EDISON, 직접 코딩한 프로그램(Matlab이용)이 얼마나 잘 표현하는지 알아보았다. 그 결과 Van Leer Vector Splitting을 이용할 경우 물리현상을 제일 잘 표현 하였다. 또한 난류 유동(Turbulence flow)을 고려하게 될 경우, Mesh가 Boundary layer를 표현할 정도로 정밀하지 못하다면 제대로 된 해석 결과를 얻을 수 없었으며, Wall 근처에서 Non-slip condition에 의해 Vortex가 형성되고, 이 Vortex가 Back flow를 유도하여 해가 수렴하는데 방해를 하게 됨을 알 수 있었다. 이를 방지하기 위해서는 유동이 잘 표현될 수 있도록 적절한 Computational environment를 형성해 주는 것이 매우 중요하다.

Optimal Allocation Method of Hybrid Active Power Filters in Active Distribution Networks Based on Differential Evolution Algorithm

  • In this paper, an optimal allocation method of a hybrid active power filter in an active distribution network is designed based on the differential evolution algorithm to resolve the harmonic generation problem when a distributed generation system is connected to the grid. A distributed generation system model in the calculation of power flow is established. An improved back/forward sweep algorithm and a decoupling algorithm are proposed for fundamental power flow and harmonic power flow. On this basis, a multi-objective optimization allocation model of the location and capacity of a hybrid filter in an active distribution network is built, and an optimal allocation scheme of the hybrid active power filter based on the differential evolution algorithm is proposed. To verify the effect of the harmonic suppression of the designed scheme, simulation analysis in an IEEE-33 nodes model and an experimental analysis on a test platform of a microgrid are adopted.
