  • One of the most performed action in daily life is standing up from sitting position. As the population of the world is aging at the high rates, people may face problems with reduced muscle strength as well as psychological changes. This can lead elderly people having difficulties with standing up from chair. Now, with the aging trend worldwide, products are being developed that can support the lives of the elderly. This study examines the distribution of hip pressure in relation to the seating positions of the standing assistance seats under development to prevent standing up accidents in older adults. The currently developing standing assistant chair designed to tilt to a maximum angle of 25 degrees. At over $25^{\circ}$, design considers that older people are at risk of thrown back out of that force and that the forces exerted on their arms and legs can be a significant burden to older people. By considering danger of higher than $25^{\circ}$ for older people which is experimented in the basis of static capturing approach in previous papers, it is experimented people with age group of 20~60 on $0^{\circ}$ to $25^{\circ}$ tilting angle on the basis of dynamic capturing method in order to pick convenient angle of inclination. Moreover, tried to find the optimum angle by comparing the hip pressure distribution when seated at the edge of the seat and at the center of the seat with the pressure distribution sensor.

  • 지식정보 사회의 도래는 새로운 교육 패러다임에 적합한 교수-학습 과정을 지원하기 위해 다양한 형태의 e-러닝의 모형과 시스템을 요구하며, 이에 따라 인터넷과 지능형 교육 시스템(ITS; intelligent tutoring system)을 적용한 e-러닝 환경의 교수-학습 시스템에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 현재 운영되고 있는 교육 현장의 인프라와 u-러닝의 개념 사이에는 상당한 격차가 존재한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 현재 구축된 교육 현장의 인프라에서 u-러닝의 개념을 적용할 수 있는 학습자의 인지구조에 기반한 ITS 교수-학습 모형과 시스템을 개발하고, 타당성을 검증하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안하는 지식표현기법을 통해 개별화 학습이 효과적으로 적용될 수 있도록 학습자 인지구조를 표현하였다.

Nutrient dynamics in decomposing litter from four selected tree species in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria

  • Background: Nutrient release during litter decomposition was investigated in Vitex doniana, Terminalia avecinioides, Sarcocephallus latifolius, and Parinari curatellifolius in Makurdi, Benue State Nigeria (January 10 to March 10 and from June 10 to August 10, 2016). Leaf decomposition was measured as loss in mass of litter over time using the decay model Wt/W0 = e-kd t, while $Kd=-{\frac{1}{t}}In({\frac{Wt}{W0}})$ was used to evaluate decomposition rate. Time taken for half of litter to decompose was measured using T50 = ln 2/k; while nutrient accumulation index was evaluated as $NAI=(\frac{{\omega}t\;Xt}{{\omega}oXo})$. Results: Average mass of litter remaining after exposure ranged from 96.15 g, (V. doniana) to 78.11 g, (S. lafolius) in dry (November to March) and wet (April to October) seasons. Decomposition rate was averagely faster in the wet season (0.0030) than in the dry season (0.0022) with P. curatellifolius (0.0028) and T. avecinioides (0.0039) having the fastest decomposition rates in dry and wet seasons. Mean residence time (days) ranged from 929 to 356, while the time (days) for half the original mass to decompose ranged from 622 to 201 (dry and wet seasons). ANOVA revealed highly significant differences (p < 0.01) in decomposition rates and exposure time (days) and a significant interaction (p < 0.05) between species and exposure time in both seasons. Conclusion: Slow decomposition in the plant leaves implied carbon retention in the ecosystem and slow release of CO2 back to the atmosphere, while nitrogen was mineralized in both seasons. The plants therefore showed effectiveness in nutrient cycling and support productivity in the ecosystem.

한국 유방암 여성들의 유방재건술에 관한 의사결정 경험 (Decision Making Experience on Breast Reconstruction for Women with Breast Cancer)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore decision making experiences of Korean women with breast cancer who underwent breast reconstruction with/after a mastectomy. Methods: Data were collected during 2015-2016 through individual in-depth interviews with 10 women who had both mastectomy and breast reconstruction, and analyzed using phenomenological method to identify essential themes on experiences of making a decision to have breast reconstruction. Results: Five theme clusters emerged. First, "expected loss of sexuality and discovery of autonomy" illustrates various aims of breast reconstruction. Second, "holding tight to the reputation of doctors amid uncertainty" specifies the importance of a trust relationship with their physician despite a lack of information. Third, "family members to step back in position" describes support or opposition from family members in the decision making process. Fourth, "bewilderment due to the paradox of appearance-oriented views" illustrates paradoxical environment, resulting in confusion and anger. Lastly, "decision to be made quickly with limited time to oneself" describes the crazy whirling process of decision making. Conclusion: Findings highlight aims, worries, barriers, and facilitators that women with breast cancer experience when making a decision about breast reconstruction. Deciding on breast reconstruction was not only a burden for women in a state of shock with a diagnosis of breast cancer, but also an opportunity to decide to integrate their body, femininity, and self which might be wounded from a mastectomy. These findings will help oncology professionals provide effective educational counselling before the operation to promote higher satisfaction after the operation.

이동통신 로밍 환경에서 빠른 홈망 복귀를 위한 망탐색 알고리즘 (Network Search Algorithm for Fast Comeback to Home Network in Roaming Environment)

  • 이동통신 로밍(roaming)을 하는 경우 외부망(visited network)의 사용 요금이 홈망(home network)에 비해 높게 책정된다. 따라서, 단말이 외부망에 위치하다가 본인의 홈망으로 복귀했는데도 불구하고 여전히 외부망에 등록되어 있는 경우, 사용자의 의도와 무관하게 높은 통신요금이 책정되는 경우가 있다. 이와 같은 문제점은 같은 지역에 여러 사업자의 망이 중복되어 설치된 경우에 자주 발생하는데, 실례로 폴란드 이동통신망 사례를 들 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이동통신 로밍 사용자의 빠른 홈망 복귀를 위한 망탐색 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 3GPP 규격의 망탐색 동작을 따르면서 단말에 저장된 망정보 DB를 활용하여 홈망을 탐색하는 방식이다. 제안 기법의 성능평가를 위해 실제 단말기와 실험장비를 이용하여 폴란드 사업자 환경을 가상적으로 구축하였다. 실험 결과, 제안 방식이 기존 3GPP 규격 방식에 비해 홈망 복귀시간을 3~60분까지 단축시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

가정폭력 피해자 보호시설의 문제점과 개선방안 (A Study on the Improvement Programs of Shelters for Domestic Violence Victims)

  • This study aims to lay the foundations for domestic welfare through solving domestic problems. The major results of this study were as follows: First, there are many domestic violence facilities, but their poor financial condition and lack of human resources make it difficult to meet all need of shelter users. Second, people who use domestic violence shelters can't receive proper care and they go back to their homes in which violence still remains. It is like a vicious cycle making their situation worse and worse. Third, counseling given to abused women in shelters is arranged individually or in groups, but there are not enough programs providing proper care for them. On the basis of the realities mentioned above, this study was intended to pave the way to work out the improvement programs as follows: First, it is critical that the financial support from the government should be increased. Second, it is necessary to improve the training of personnel concerned with the handling of domestic violence cases. Third, it is important to make sure that children of abused women should be taken care of safely, and temporary jobs for the women should be secured. This will allow domestic violence shelters to serve their true purpose. Lastly, more adequate counseling services such as more instrumental 1366 phone lines, the development of various programs and the follow-up counseling should be reinforced.

가상현실 대화용 가상걸음 장치의 지능제어 (Intelligent Control of a Virtual Walking Machine for Virtual Reality Interface)

  • This paper proposes intelligent control of a virtual walking machine that can generate infinite floor for various surfaces and can provide proprioceptive feedback of walking to a user. This machine allows users to participate in a life-like walking experience in virtual environments with various terrains. The controller of the machine is implemented hierarchically, at low-level for robust actuator control, at mid-level fur platform control to compensate the external forces by foot contact, and at high-level control for generating walking trajectory. The high level controller is suggested to generate continuous walking on an infinite floor for various terrains. For the high level control, each independent platform follows a man foot during the swing phase, while the other platform moves back during single stance phase. During double limb support, two platforms manipulate neutral positions to compensate the offset errors generated by velocity changes. This control can, therefore, satisfy natural walking conditions in any direction. Transition phase between the swing and the stance phases is detected by using simple switch sensor system, while human foot motions are sensed by careful calibration with a magnetic motion tracker attached to the shoe. Experimental results of walking simulations at level ground, slope, and stairs, show that with the proposed machine, a general person can walk naturally on various terrains with safety and without any considerable disturbances. This interface can be applied to various areas such as VR navigations, rehabilitation, and gait analysis.

간호사의 임상에서의 의사소통장애에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Communication Barrier for Nurses in Clinical Settings)

  • This study was designated to investigate communication barriers of nurses in clinical settings. This study was done in 2 phases, first content analysis on descriptions of 50 nurses in three general hospitals and 40 nursing students on communication barriers for nurses in clinical settings, and second a survey to investigate the factors related to communication barriers and the relation between the nurse's characteristics and the extent of communication barriers in clinical settings from two nurses educators, 13 nursing students who experienced clinical practice and 71 nurses in 11 general hospitals. The results are as follows : 1. Through content analysis, 11 properties of communication barriers for nurses in clinical settings were identified. These were inappropriate communication style as a nurse, lack of professionalism, in appropriate control of emotions, lack of knowledge about the clincal setting, the lack of preparation about content of communication, the problem in trust relation, differences in priorities in needs, uncontroleable situation for nurses, inappropriate nurses' perception about patients, conflict with medical team and inadequate systematic support were identified and grouped in to four categories, communicator, message, feed-back and communication context. 2. The four factors in communication barriers for nurses in the clinical setting were identified and named as ambiguity in the nurses' position, lack of confidence, difference in perspectives with patients and in-adequate nurse-patient relationship. 3. There was a significant difference(F=5.31, P=0.0022, F=3.62, P=0.0316, F=2.80, P=0.067, F=9.01, P=0.0003) among the groups according to work place in rating the extent of the communication barrier in the clinical setting and in the four factors, the nurses working in the psychiatric patient unit rated the communication barrier in the clinical setting lowest among the groups. There was a significant negative correlation between the length of the nurses's carrier and the extent of communication barrier in three factors, ambiguity in the nurses' position, lack of confidence and inadequate nurse-patient relationship.

  • 원주클러스터의 역량 제고방안을 제시하기 위해 원주의료기기의 산업현황을 파악하였다. 그리고 설문과 심층면접으로 기업일반현황 및 입지요인, 경영환경, 기업경쟁력, 기업지원제도 등을 조사하였다. 원주클러스터는 '07말 기준 40만 평방미터의 부지에 79개 의료기기 제조업체가 입주하여 연구개발 및 생산중이며 시장점유율은 전국 의료기기 생산액의 9%, 수출액의 11%를 차지하고 있다. 그러나 원주클러스터 업체들의 혁신역량이 보완되기 위해서는 기업들의 지리적 집적, 의료기기 및 전후방 업체육성 및 유치, 고급인력공급, 기술개발지원, 기술 및 정보획득 지원, 주거 교육 등 기반시설 보완, 체계적인 창업보육 시스템구축, 자금조달지원, 마케팅 지원과 경영자의 자질향상 프로그램이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

기상 반응용 스마트 용출 촉매 연구 동향 (A review of smart exsolution catalysts for the application of gas phase reactions)

  • Perovskite-type oxides with the nominal composition of ABO3 can exsolve the B-site transition metal upon the controlled reduction. In this exsolution process, the transition metal emerges from the oxide lattice and migrates to the surface at which it forms catalytically active nanoparticles. The exsolved nanoparticles can recover back to the bulk lattice under oxidation treatment. This unique regeneration character by the redox treatment provides uniformly dispersed noble metal nanoparticles. Therefore, the conventional problem of traditional impregnated metal/support, i.e., sintering during reaction, can be effectively avoided by using the exsolution phenomenon. In this regard, the catalysts using the exsolution strategy have been well studied for a wide range of applications in energy conversion and storage devices such as solid oxide fuel cells and electrolysis cells (SOFCs and SOECs) because of its high thermal and chemical stability. On the other hand, although this exsolution strategy can also be applied to gas phase reaction catalysts, it has seldomly been reviewed. Here, we thus review recent applications of the exsolution catalysts to the gas phase reactions from the aspects of experimental measurements, where various functions of the exsolved particles were utilized. We also review non-perovskite type metal oxides that might have exolution phenomenon to provide more possibilities to develop higher efficient catalysts.
