  • This paper presents the method of reducing torque ripple of Blushless Direct Current(BLDC) motor. In the BLDC motor, the torque is decided by the back-EMF and current waveform. If the back-EMF is constant, the torque ripple depends on the current ripple during commutation period. The current in commutation period is acquired by circuit analysis and then the torque ripple simply can be reduced by varying input voltage to flow the current continuously. And suggested method is confirmed by dynamic with parameters of 500W BLDC motor.

  • In this paper two methods of torque control for brushless DC motor with non-ideal trapezoidal back EMF are presented. One is the method of modulating the reference current so as to give a constant torque since the torque is given by the back EMF and the. phase currents. And the current control loop includes the feedforward control of back EMF and of the neutral voltage between the neutral points of the inverter and of the machine. The other is a direct voltage calculation algorithm for a given reference torque. In the two methods, the time delay due to the calculation is compensated by one sampling current prediction. The simulation results are presented to verify the proposed methods.

  • The analytical expressions for magnetic field distributions considering slotting effects, cogging torque and back-emf considering skew effects are established. On the basis of magnetic field solutions, electrical parameters such as back-emf constant and winding inductance are obtained. The predicted results are validated extensively by non-linear finite element (FE) analyses. In particular, test results such as back-emf, cogging torque, inductance and resistance measurements are given to confirm the analyses. Finally, generating performances are investigated by applying estimated parameters to equivalent circuit (EC) of the permanent magnet generator (PMG) and validated extensively by FE calculations and measurements.

  • This paper deals with back-EMF characteristic comparison of Vertical and Halbach array double-sided linear generator with coreless type. On the basis of a magnetic vector potential and Maxwell's equations, governing equations are obtained, and magnetic modeling is predicting characteristic analysis by using the Fourier series expansion. And then, we obtained magnetic field solutions and calculated resistance, back-EMF constant. The analytical results used by 2-D cylindrical coordinate system. The analytical method used in this paper is confirmed by comparing with finite element analysis results.

  • This paper proposes a sensorless control method of BLDC motors using line-to-line back-EMFs. Typical sensorless control methods have various problems such as the difficulty in operation at low speed and difficulties in application and so forth. However, the control method using line-to-line back-EMFs that this paper proposes solved not only such problems but also problems of noise and difficulty of commutation detection. The method is to divide line-to-line back EMF into the constant. With 550[W] BLDC motor driving system, simulations and experiments have been carried out for the verification of the proposed control method.

  • This paper deals with dynamic analysis method of a slotless type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using 3-dimensional space harmonic method. The results are good agreement with FEA results because that slotless type PMLSM has simple structure and no saturation of core. And then, Under open-loop control, starting characteristic is analyzed by voltage equation combining with dynamic equation. In order to obtain more accuracy results, this paper use instantaneous back-EMF and thrust instead of back-EMF constant and thrust constant.

  • This paper deals with the dynamic analysis and experiments of moving-magnet linear actuator with/without spring. On the basis of two dimensional (2-D) analytical solutions and experiments, control parameters such as thrust constant, back-emf constant, inductance and resistance are obtained. And then, dynamic simulation algorithm is established from the voltage and motion equation. Finally, for various values of frequency, dynamic simulation results for characteristics of current and displacement of moving-magnet linear actuator with and without spring are presented and confirmed through the experiments. In particular, This paper applies the PWM voltage waveform obtained from a DSP for bidirectional voltage drive to the actuator.

  • This paper presents the mathematical modelling analysis of Brushless Synchronous Motor(BLSM). The dynamic and the steady state characteristics of BLSM are simulated and analyzed : electromagnetic torque, speed, line voltage, and current. We used mathematical modelling to model of BLSM with sinusoidal back EMF, namely the shaft transformation referencing rotor frame from a, b, c three to produce constant torque like synchronous motor. The experiment result has already similar to compare with simulation result : torque error about 7%, speed error about 5%. The validity of proposed modelling and analysis was confirmed by the experimental result.

  • It is important to know exact values of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM)' parameters such as stator resistance and inductance in order to have their high performance. This paper proposes a novel motor parameter(stator resistance, d&q axis inductance) estimation algorithm for IPMSM. The proposed estimation method utilizes back-EMF equations and model reference adaptive system(MRAS). The algorithm using back-EMF estimates d and q axis inductances in the constant torque region, and the stator resistance is estimated by using MRAS with the estimated inductance regardless of speed regions. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • A predictive current control in the synchronous reference frame with the back EMF estimation using the previous voltages and currents is proposed. To reduce the torque ripple produced by harmonics in the air gap flux, the q-axis current is compensated using the estimated torque constant. The effectiveness of the proposed control is compared to the conventional control scheme through the simulation.
