$Fe(OH)_2-BaCO_3$$Fe(OH)_3-BaCO_3$ 의 공심물로부터 Ba-Ferrite 생성과정의 비교 (Comparision between Synthesis Processes of Ba-Ferrite from Coprecipitates $Fe(OH)_2-BaCO_3$ and $Fe(OH)_3-BaCO_3$)

  • For the preparation of ferroxidure BaO.5.5 $Fe_2O_3$ with high coercive force, the green and calcined coprecipitates, which were obtained by neutralizing the mixed salt solution $FeCl_2-BaCl_2$ and $FeCl_3-BaCl_2$ with alkali solution $NaOH-Na_2CO_3$, were investigated about the thermal reaction, crystal growth, and the magnetic properties of the sintered specimens. The very single-domain crystallites of Ba-ferrite with high coercive force are formed from the coprecipitate of amorphous $Fe(OH)_3$ and amorphous $BaCO_3$ at lower temperature than that of subnucleus crystalline $\delta$-FeOOH and amorphous $BaCO_3$.

Ba-페라이트/$SiO_2$ 자성박막에서 ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer 층의 역할 (Role of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer layer in $Ba-ferrite/SiO$ magnetic thin films)

  • We have studied the interfacial diffusion phenomena and the role of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer layer as a diffusion barrier in the $Ba-ferrite/SiO_2$ magnetic thin films for high-density recording media. In the interface of amorphous Ba-ferrite ($1900-{\AA}-thick)/SiO_2$ thin film during annealing, the interfacial diffusion started to occur at ${\sim}700^{\circ}C$. As the annealing temperature increased up to $800^{\circ}C$, the interfacial diffusion abruptly proceeded resulting in the high interface roughness and the deterioration of the magnetic properties. In order to control the interfacial diffusion at the high temperature, we introduced ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer layer ($110-{\AA}-thick$) in the interface of $Ba-ferrite/SiO_2$ thin film. During the annealing of $Ba-ferrite/{\alpha}-Al_2O_3/SiO_2$ thin film even at ${\sim}800^{\circ}C$, the interface was very smooth. The smooth interface of the film was also clearly shown by the cross-sectional FESEM. The magnetic properties, such as saturation magnetization 3nd intrinsic coercivity, were also enhanced, due to the inhibition of interfacial diffusion by the ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer layer. Our study suggests that the ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ buffer layer act as a useful interfacial diffusion barrier in the $Ba-ferrite/SiO_2$ thin films.

Barium Ferrite Media for Extremely High Density Recording Applications

  • In this paper a structurally coupled and magnetically decoupled Ba-ferrite thin film medium is proposed to evade the superparamagnetic limit and reduce media noise. The proposed medium consists of ferrimagnetic Ba-ferrite nano-grains (< 10 nm) and a non-magnetic grain boundary material. Magnetic grains are crystallographically matched with the grain boundary material. Spherical or cubic shaped Ba-ferrite particle is also proposed for above 100 Kfci particulate recording application.

Cobalt가 치환된 Barium Ferrite 분말 제조 시 자기적 특성변화 (Changes in Magnetic Properties When Manufacturing Cobalt-substituted Barium Ferrite Powder)

  • 본 연구에서는 Sol-Gel 방법을 이용하여 단일상의 Barium ferrite 분말을 제조하였으며, 이때 Ba에 대한 Fe(Fe/Ba)의 몰비와 열처리 온도를 달리하여 단일상의 Barium ferrite를 제조하기 위한 최적의 실험조건을 찾고자 하였다. 또한 고밀도 자기기록매체에 사용되기 위한 2.5 ~ 5.5 kOe 크기의 보자력을 가지는 ferrite 미립자 제조를 위해 보자력 제어에 뛰어난 효과를 지닌 cobalt를 첨가제로 하여 cobalt가 치환된 Barium ferrite 미립자를 제조하고 이들에 대한 자기적 특성 변화를 조사하였다. 제조된 Barium ferrite의 결정구조 및 단일상의 합성여부를 확인하기 위해 X-Ray Diffractometer(XRD), Thermogravimetric-Differential Thermal Analysis(TG-DTA), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope(FE-SEM)을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 화학적 구조와 조성의 분석을 위해 Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometer(EDS)를 사용하였다. 또한 Vibrating Sample Magnetometer(VSM)을 통해 cobalt가 치환된 Barium ferrite 분말의 보자력을 측정하였다. 그 결과 단일상의 Barium ferrite는 Fe/Ba의 몰비가 10, 900 ℃의 열처리 온도에서 가장 잘 합성되었다. Co의 첨가량이 증가할수록 보자력은 감소하였으며 Fe에 대한 Co(Co/Fe)의 몰비가 0.16 이내 일 때, 고밀도 자기기록매체에 사용할 수 있는 보자력 값인 2.5 ~ 5.5 kOe를 가지는 Barium ferrite가 합성되었다.

Ba 육방정 페라이트의 소결 특성 및 마이크로파 특성 (Sintering and Microwave Properties of Ba Hexagonal Ferrite)

  • The sintering and high frequency electro-magnetic properties of Ba-hexagonal ferrite were investigated. All samples of the Ba-hexagonal ferrite were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method and sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$~$1400^{\circ}C$. From the X-ray diffraction patterns of sintered Ba-hexagonal ferrite, the $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ phase was represented as main phase in the almost sintering conditions. The bulk densities with sintering temperature and decreased at $1400^{\circ}C$. The permittivity ($\varepsilon$') and loss tangent of permittivity ($\varepsilon$"/$\varepsilon$') of $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ ceramics increased and decreased with sintering temperature, respectively. The permeability of $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ ceramics decreased with sinteirng temperature. The loss tangent of permeability was not changed compared each other with sintering temperature. The bulk density of $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ ceramics sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ was 4.79 g/$cm^3$. The permittivity, loss tangent of permittivity and permeability, loss tangent of permeability were 19.896, 0.1718 and 14.218, 0.2046 at 210 MHz, respectively.

분말 X-선 회절법에 의한 페라이트의 구조 연구 : 헤마타이트, 바륨페라이트, Zn2Y(Ba2Zn2Fe12O22) (An XRD Study on the Structures of Ferrites : Hematite, Ba-ferrite and Zn2Y(Ba2Zn2Fe12O22))

  • Structures of hematite(${\alpha}$-Fe2O3), Ba-ferrite(BaFe12O19) and Zn2Y(Ba2Zn2Fe12O22) were studied by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) method. Powder XRD patterns of the ferrites were analyzed with the Rietveld method, and the final refined R-factors were RWP<0.01 and RI<0.03. The lattice parameters refined with hexagonal crystal system were a=5.0342${\AA}$, c=13.746${\AA}$ for hematite, a=5.8928${\AA}$, c=23.201${\AA}$ for Ba-ferrite, and a=5.8763${\AA}$, c=43.567${\AA}$ for Zn2Y. In the hematite, the oxygen parameter is 0.3072 and the Fe-O distances in FeO6octahedron are 1.941${\AA}$ and 2.118${\AA}$, close to the single crystal data of Blake et al.. In the Ba-ferrite, the Fe atom in oxygen trigonal bipyramid is displaced 0.155${\AA}$ away from the BaO3 mirror plane into 4e position. In the Zn2Y, 75% of Zn is located at the oxygen terahedral site in S-block.

Ba-페라이트/α-Al2O3/SiO2 자성박막에서 버퍼층의 역할 (Role of Buffer Layer in Ba-Ferrite/α-Al2O3/SiO2 Magnetic Thin Films)

  • 고밀도 자기기록용 Ba-페라이트/$SiO_{2}$ 자성박막에서 계면확산 장벽으로써 ${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 버퍼층의 역할을 연구하였다. 열처리동안 $1900{\AA}$의 두께를 가진 비정질 Ba-페라이트/$SiO_{2}$ 박막에서 계면확산은 약 $700^{\circ}C$에서 일어나기 시작하였다. 열처리온도를 $800^{\circ}C$까지 증가시켰을 때, 계면확산은 자기특성을 저하시킬 정도로 급격히 진행되었다. 고온에서의 계면확산을 억제하기 위하여, $110{\AA}$ 두께의 ${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 버퍼층을 Ba-페라이트/$SiO_{2}$ 박막의 계면에 증착하여 사용하였다. Ba-페라이트/${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}/SiO_{2}$ 박막에서는 $800^{\circ}C$의 고온까지 열처리하여도 계면확산이 심각하게 일어나지는 않았다. ${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 버퍼층에 의하여 계면확산이 억제되기 때문에 Ba-페라이트 자성박막의 포화자속밀도와 보자력이 향상되었다. 따라서 Ba-페라이트/$SiO_{2}$ 박막의 계면에서 ${\alpha}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ 버퍼층은 $SiO_{2}$ 기판 성분의 계면확산 장벽으로 사용될 수 있다.

Synthesis of Barium Ferrite Powder by the Coprecipitation Method using Iron Pickling Waste Acid

  • Barium ferrite powders were synthesized by the coprecipitation method using iron-pickling waste acid (IPWA) and BaCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O as raw materials. Fe$\^$2+/ ions in the IPWA, which contains both Fe$\^$2+/ and Fe$\^$3+/ ions, were oxidized into Fe$\^$3+/ ions using H$_2$O$_2$. Proper amount of BaCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O was dissolved into the oxidized IPWA. Using NaOH, Ba$\^$2+/ and Fe$\^$3+/ ions were coprecipitated as Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$. The coprecipitated Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$were washed and dried. Barium ferrite powders were obtained by calcining the dried Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$mixture from 400$\^{C}$ to 1000$\^{C}$ with a 100$\^{C}$ interval. Barium ferrite powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, SEM, and VSM. It was found that barium ferrite powders could be synthesized at around 630$\^{C}$. The synthesized barium ferrite powders showed hexagonal plate shapes with a fairly uniform size. The barium ferrite powder calcined at 900$\^{C}$ showed good magnetic properties, saturation magnetization of 67emu/g and maximum coercivity of 5000 Oe.
