수정 BOM 을 이용한 조립제품의 표준시간 산출 (Determining Standard Times of Assembly Products using A Modified BOM)

  • This paper suggests a computer software system which generates standard times for assembly products. The system called "computer aided logical system for standard times(CALS4ST)" incorporates a modified bill of materials, BOM4ST(BOM for standard time) to deal with auxiliary operations which are not directly related to parts and assemblies listed in the standard BOM. Typical examples of the operations include inspection, adjustment, and repairing works to be done before or after assembly operations. Once standard time data bases for both the part assembly operations and the auxiliary operations are set up, the system relates the BOM4ST to the standard time data bases so as to calculate the standard time for a assembly part concerned. According to the structure of parts and auxiliary operations in the BOM4ST, their standard times stored in the data bases are to be sequentially added up considering the specified assembly-operation characteristics. To illustrate the feasibility of the system, the case study of L company is provided.

  • This paper focuses on a BOM(Bill of Materials) management problem for a small and medium manufacturing company that produce automobile parts. Automobile part's manufacturers produce various products due to various automobile characteristics such as types, colors, and the other options of car. These products are classified into product groups with common parts. And each product group is regarded as a product family. This paper proposes an efficient and effective EXCEL-based BOM management scheme using characteristics of the product family. And we have implemented the practical EXCEL-based BOM management system for real small and medium automobile part's manufacturing companies.

  • BOM(Bill of Material) is a description of parts, assemblies and raw materials that comprise a product structure. In manufacturing companies that produce various products with short life cycles, it is very important to manage to BOM of products with various options and versions efficiently. This paper describes an effective modeling and implementing technique of Generic BOM Management System(GBMS) for management of number of variant products. In this paper, OMT(Object Modeling Technique) was used to model a generic BOM and Object-Relational Database Management System(ORDBMS) was used to implement the GBMS database. In order to prove the effectiveness of proposed methodology, a case that assembles computer with various options was studied.

Modular BOM을 활용한 와이어링 하네스 원가 산출 (Using a Modular BOM for Cost Calculation in Wiring Harness)

  • Since past till now, automotive wiring harness has been designed and produced under the method of part number list. However, the number of options has increased gradually on the basis of customer's needs and car manufacturer's policy, thereby bringing about an increase in the number of classified parts. Because of a large number of classified parts, cost estimates for manufacturing and production planning are more important than ever. However, the pre-existing manufacturing bill of material abbreviated as BOM is only focused on the list of materials used for actual manufacturing, and as such there have been limits to other fields or areas of usage except for manufacturing. In essence, the present paper is concerned with our study conducted on modular BOM as one of planning BOM. On such basis, we have been able to completely use a method by which to have access, make an option units' calculation in wiring harness manufacturing, and build an efficient system for cost estimates in manufacturing as well.

  • The environmental regulation of a product is a global trend. The environmental regulation directives such as RoHS, WEEE, ELV and REACH have impacted Korean export-oriented auto parts manufacturer and affects the export of the product to aboard. In electronics manufacture and auto parts manufacturer, there are different systems for environmental regulation compliance. Nowadays the automotive mechatronics parts in a car are increasing. The HEV and intelligent car will need more mechatronics parts. It is necessary to apply the environmental regulation system of electronics to the automotive parts. In this paper, we proposed the application of PDX standard used in electronic industry to the BOM of the auto parts manufactures and showed an example of generated BOM for selected auto part using PDX. The PDX-based BOM can be used for the recording of environmental substances of the automotive mechatronics part and help the collaboration across auto parts manufactures in accordance with environmental regulation.

  • In manufacturing companies, engineering information is a central data which defines a product to be produced. This is changed by various factors such as changes of product configuration, changes of drawings information of a technology's licensor, etc, and these changes essentially accompany the changes of a product BOM (Bill of Materials) structure. Thus, engineering changes gives a heavy burden to information management within enterprise because the changes of product BOM have an influence on each departmental BOM such as a procurement BOM, a manufacturing BOM, a quotation BOM, etc. Especially, these changes of product BOM due to the engineering changes is inevitably and frequently happened by a customer's requirements in a customer-oriented make-to-order manufacturing environments. In these manufacturing environments, information gap among each department from the first contact point of customer to engineering, materials, production, quality, and management is very close, and thus it is very important that the change information of product BOM due to changes of product specification and engineering information are efficiently communicated among each department. This paper describes a procedure of determining product specification and of generating product BOM, and proposes an efficient management scheme for the change process of product BOM information due to changes of product specification and engineering. Also, to show the effectiveness of the proposed product BOM management scheme, a product BOM management system is implemented for the ship engine division of 'H' company, one of customer-oriented make-to-order manufacturing enterprises.

주문 생산형 반도체 장비를 위한 E-BOM 복제 방법의 구현 (Implementation of an E-BOM Copy Method for an Order-specific Semiconductor Equipment)

  • In this paper we propose an engineering bill of materials (E-BOM) copy method that can be utilized to manage the product information for each equipment during building a product lifecycle management (PLM) system in the order-specific semiconductor equipment manufacturer. The previous works studied on an E-BOM creation and management method for the mass manufacturing and production. The method is difficult to apply to an environment in which many engineering changes occur and the different specification to each equipment is required such as semiconductor equipments and facilities adopting built-to-order instead of built for inventory. Moreover the method is known to be the major drawback to deteriorate the design efficiency. Our E-BOM copy method enables users efficiently to manage the specification of a product and shortens the product development cycle. To implement the E-BOM copy method in the PLM environment, we developed the E-BOM copy system that automatically generates new parts and their numbers according to the numbering rule while copying the E-BOM from existing semiconductor equipments and then can apply the parts for reuse to new semiconductor equipments. This system can duplicate not only 3D CAD data but also technical documents.

  • 본 논문에서는 시설물의 효율적인 유지보수를 지원하기 위하여 시설물을 구성하는 부품의 고장 영향 및 교체 주기 알람 기능을 제공하는 시설물 관리 시스템의 개발에 관한 내용을 다룬다. 이를 위해 시설물의 BOM을 활용하여 시설물을 구성하는 각 부품에 가중치를 부여하여 부품별 중요도를 계산하고 부품 간의 관계를 구조화하였다. 또한 BOM에 FMECA 기법을 도입하여 시설물을 구성하는 각 부품별 고장 원인 및 영향 등을 도출하였으며, 시설물에서의 위험 우선순위를 구하기 위한 심각도, 발생도, 검출도에 관한 기준을 정의하였다. 이러한 내용을 반영하여 웹 기반 시설물 관리 시스템을 개발하였으며 이를 통해 제안하는 방법의 유용성을 실험하였다. 개발한 시스템은 향후 시설물의 관리뿐만 아니라 선박 및 해양플랜트의 유지보수 등 여러 분야에 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

자동차부품기업의 UML기반 자재관리시스템 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of UML-Based Material Management System for Automotive Part Company)

  • One of the important applications in Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) systems is the Manufacturing Resource Planning(MRPII) system using Bill of Material(BOM). The manufacturing resource planning determines the quantity and timing of the production or purchase of subassemblies and raw materials needed to support the Master Production Scheduling(MPS). The bill of material is the recipe, a list of the materials needed to make a product. This paper intends to suggest a component-based materials management system using Unified Modeling Language(UML), as an application system for automobile part industry. Applying component based materials management systems designed with UML methodology, we analyzed the workflow and the document on materials management process from production planning to inventory management, and implemented a prototype of efficient materials management system, as a surrogate of existing material requirement planning(MRPI) system. To produce many other assemblies for a automobile part firm, component parts are assembled into subassemblies that are joined to assemble the finished product. Through the system suggested in this study, the level of inventory has cut down and the cost of inventory management has decreased. Also, the development method using UML makes the analysis and design phase to shorten in implementation period of MRPII system. The implementation of materials management system using CBD shows the ease of use in software reuse and the interoperability with corporate Internal information system. The result of applying object-oriented CBD technique is to minimize the risk of life cycle and facilitate the reuse of software as mentioned to limitation of information engineering methodology.

  • Production management in the automobile parts industry is carried out according to the production plan of the customer, so it is important to prevent shortages in product supply. As the product composition became increasingly complex, the MES System was built for the purpose of efficient production plan management and inventory management, but its utilization is low. This study analyzed the problems of the MES system and sought to improve it. Through previous studies, it was confirmed that the inventory management of the pull approach that actually occurred in the warehouse is more suitable than the push approach based on the forecast of the warehouse for the volatility, complexity, and uncertainty of orders in the auto parts industry. To realize this, we tried distributed MRP by using the ADO function of VBA to link the standard information of the MES system with Excel and change the structure of the BOM table. Through this, it can help increase the accuracy of production planning and realize efficient inventory management, thereby increasing the utilization of the MES system in the auto parts industry and enhancing the competitiveness of the company.
