Position Error Correction Algorithm for Improvement of Positioning Accuracy in BLE Beacon Systems (BLE 비콘 시스템에서 측위 정밀도 향상을 위한 위치 오차 보정 알고리즘)

  • Recently, BLE beacons are widely used in indoor precision positioning systems because of their low battery consumption and low infrastructure cost. However, existing BLE beacon based indoor positioning algorithms are difficult to compensate for position errors due to the user's moving speed. Therefore, we proposed a position error correction algorithm that combines bounced cancellation and minimum distance maintenance algorithm with a positioning error correction method using direction vectors. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm guarantees superior positioning performance than the existing indoor positioning algorithm and also improves the performance of position error compensation.

Antioxidative Changes of Blueberry Leaf Extracts in Emulsion-Type Sausage during In Vitro Digestion

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of in vitro human digestion on the antioxidant activity of blueberry leaf extracts (BLE) in emulsion-type sausages (ETS). Leaves from four cultivars of blueberries (Bluecrop, Bluegold, Duke, and Northland) collected from a wild blueberry farm were extracted with 80% ethanol. ETS were prepared with 0.2% BLE. The samples were then passed through an in vitro human digestion system which simulates the composition of the mouth, stomach, and small intestine juice. Only one phenolic compound (chlorogenic acid) was detected in the BLE. Northland BLE had appreciably higher amounts of chlorogenic acid than that of other BLE, both before and after in vitro human digestion. Antioxidant activity of any BLE was not influenced by in vitro human digestion, whereas the antioxidant activity of chlorogenic acid standard increased in response to in vitro human digestion in both 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and ferric-reducing ability of plasma (FRAP). In the present study, the antioxidant activities of the BLE were not strongly influenced by in vitro human digestion, and the antioxidant activity depended on the chlorogenic acid content of ETS. Thus, compounds from blueberry leaves may have important applications in the future as natural antioxidants for meat products.

Machine Learning Based BLE Indoor Positioning Performance Improvement (머신러닝 기반 BLE 실내측위 성능 개선)

  • In order to improve the performance of the indoor positioning system using BLE beacons, a receiver that measures the angle of arrival among the direction finding technologies supported by BLE5.1 was manufactured and analyzed by machine learning to measure the optimal position. For the creation and testing of machine learning models, k-nearest neighbor classification and regression, logistic regression, support vector machines, decision tree artificial neural networks, and deep neural networks were used to learn and test. As a result, when the test set 4 produced in the study was used, the accuracy was up to 99%.

Indoor Positioning Algorithm Combining Bluetooth Low Energy Plate with Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (BLE Beacon Plate 기법과 Pedestrian Dead Reckoning을 융합한 실내 측위 알고리즘)

  • As the demand for indoor location recognition system has been rapidly increased in accordance with the increasing use of smart devices and the increasing use of augmented reality, indoor positioning systems(IPS) using BLE (Bluetooth Lower Energy) beacons and UWB (Ultra Wide Band) have been developed. In this paper, a positioning plate is generated by using trilateration technique based on BLE Beacon and using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator). The resultant value is used to calculate the PDR-based coordinates using the positioning element of the Inertial Measurement Unit sensor, We propose a precise indoor positioning algorithm that combines RSSI and PDR technique. Based on the plate algorithm proposed in this paper, the experiment have done at large scale indoor sports arena and airport, and the results were successfully verified by 65% accuracy improvement with average 2.2m error.

  • Oral disease causes a significant health and economic burden worldwide, significantly reducing people's quality of life. Dental caries, a representative oral disease, is caused by S. mutans. Oral pathogenic microorganisms contain lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which can cause an immune response and cause various oral diseases. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidant and antibacterial effects of bamboo leaf extract (BLE) to control oral diseases. THP-1, oral fibroblasts, and S mutans culture medium were treated with bamboo leaf extract at different concentrations of 0-8% to conduct the experiment.. As a result, the antioxidant effect according to the BLE concentration was confirmed in mononuclear cell lines and oral fibroblasts. In addition, the antibacterial effect of S. mutans according to the BLE concentration was demonstrated. Therefore, BLE can be used for the prevention or treatment of oral diseases.

A Study of Attendance Management System using Beacon and BLE Advertisement Function

  • In this paper, we propose an electronic attendance management system using the bluetooth function of the beacon and BLE advertising function of the smart phone. In the beacon-only bluetooth attendance confirmation system, it is needed more than one beacons according to the class room sizes. A BLE advertising function based attendance confirmation system can not provide the information about the location of the attendances. In the proposed system, we can identify the location of the instructor using the beacon of the class room, and confirm the attendances by checking the position of the attendances's smart phone. In this system, we can achieves the goals of electronic attendance management system using only one beacon per a class room.

A User Movement Direction Detecting Method through Data Analysis of BLE Beacons and Its Implementation

  • The popularization of smartphones in recent years has created a rich ground for online-to-offline (O2O) services based on location information. In the process of finding user locations in O2O services, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons are widely used because the beacons are economical in many ways. The current BLE method does not specify the direction of user movement, but adding that information could enrich the user experience for various O2O services. This paper proposes a method that identifies the user movement direction through data analysis on data sets generated by a pair of BLE beacons. Also we demonstrate its implementation with examples of services that need the direction information of users in order to show the feasibility of the method proposed.

  • As interest in IoT has increased recently, services using IoT devices and smart phones have been applied to various industries. Among them, the electronic attendance system has been built and serviced by various institutions, but There is a problem that the user recognition is not accurate yet. In this paper, we propose a context recognition based user recognition method that can improve the accuracy of user recognition part in a system based on BLE beacon among existing electronic attendance systems.

  • 사물인터넷은 최근 몇 년간 급격한 발전을 이루었으며 발전을 바탕으로 삶의 질 향상과 상업적인 가치가 큰 스마트 환경을 구축하였다. 스마트 환경 구축을 위해서는 각각 사물들이 사용하는 통신 프로토콜 간 통신이 되어야 한다. 그러나 통신 프로토콜 간 서로 다른 통신 규약을 가지기 때문에 통신이 안 되는 이질성 문제가 있으며 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 DDS(Data Distribution Service) 기반의 어댑터(Adaptor)가 필요하다. 본 논문은 최근 각광받고 있는 BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy)를 사물 인터넷에 적용하기 위해 DDS 기반의 BLE 어댑터를 제안한다. 이러한 BLE 어댑터를 통하여 BLE와 RFID(Radio-Frequency Identification), LTE(Long-Term Evolution), 그리고 지그비(ZigBee) 등 다른 통신 프로토콜 간 이질성 문제를 해결함으로써 서로 다른 데이터를 활용할 수 있다.

  • ICT 기술의 발달과 활용이 급속하게 증가하고 있는 상황에서 서비스와 시스템의 융합이 활발히 진행되고 있는 가운데 시간과 장소에 구애 받지 않고 스마트 폰을 이용하여 간편하게 이루어질 수 있는 결제시스템 방식에 관심이 늘어나고 있는 것에 대하여 여러 가지 IT기술들이 접목되어 시장에 나타나고 있다. 최근 주목받고 있는 기술로 BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy)기반인 비콘이 있다. BLE 비콘은 에너지 소모율이 적은 것이 가장 큰 특징이며 자동으로 사용자의 위치를 파악하고 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 비콘이 스마트폰 결제 시스템에 새로운 방식이며 혁신의 바람을 불러온 것은 사실이지만, 비콘 관련 연구 및 개발에서 블루투스 신호를 사용한다는 점을 바탕으로 거리의 정확도의 미흡함과 통신 도달범위가 크다는 것을 관련하여 보안의 위험성을 가지고 있다는 점이 문제로 지적된다. 본 논문에서는 BLE 비콘 결제의 전반적인 시스템을 분석하고 보안의 취약함을 도출하여 그에 따른 요구사항을 연구함으로써 결제시스템의 보안 취약점을 최소화 할 수 있는 대응방안을 제안한다.
