This study quantitatively analyzes the work performance of the structural safety diagnosis team that diagnoses pipe racks. To this end, a method for evaluating the performance of the structural safety diagnosis team using the queuing model was proposed. For verification, the case of applying the existing method and the method of introducing a 3D laser scanner for one site was used. The period, number of people, and initial investment cost of each project were collected through interviews with case project experts. As a result of analyzing the performance of the structural safety diagnosis team using the queuing model, it was possible to confirm the probability of delay in the work of each project and the amount of delayed work. Through this, the cost (standby cost) when the project was delayed was analyzed. Finally, economic analysis was conducted in consideration of the waiting cost, labor cost, and initial investment cost. The results of this study can be used to decide whether to introduce 3D laser scanners.
With Building Information Modeling(BIM) becoming the de facto standard for data sharing in the AEC industry, additional needs have increased to ensure the data integrity of BIM models themselves. Although the Industry Foundation Classes provide an open and neutral data format, its generalized schema leaves it open to data loss and misclassifications This research applied deep learning to automatically classify BIM elements and thus check the integrity of BIM-to-IFC mappings. Multi-view CNN(MVCC) and PointNet, which are two deep learning models customized to learn and classify in 3 dimensional non-euclidean spaces, were used. The analysis was restricted to classifying subtypes of architectural walls. MVCNN resulted in the highest performance, with ACC and F1 score of 0.95 and 0.94. MVCNN unitizes images from multiple perspectives of an element, and was thus able to learn the nuanced differences of wall subtypes. PointNet, on the other hand, lost many of the detailed features as it uses a sample of the point clouds and perceived only the 'skeleton' of the given walls.

The importance of performance-based design feedback is being emphasized when it comes to the potential impact that affects all the lifecycle of the building. However, the latency and disconnection of domain expert in the sector of AEC/FM remain current obstacles between design and performance feedback. It is hard to utilize performance feedback information for design exploration and support design decision making during the conceptual phase of design. Using parametric design, this paper proposes various design alternatives from a set of rules and constraints defined by algorithms for the geometric configurations of an Office Building. A Building Performance Analysis (BPA) was to developed using Autodesk® Revit® 2019 which integrates Autodesk® Green Building Studio® to predict its sufficient daylighting conditions of the LEED v4's Daylighting Autonomy (DA). The parametric-based performance feedback of this study outlines potential design improvements for further exploration in application to the early design process.

In high-density high-rise cities such as Hong Kong, buildings account for nearly 90% of energy consumption and 61% of carbon emissions. Therefore, it is important to study the design of buildings, especially high-rise buildings, to achieve lower carbon emissions in the city. The carbon emissions of a building consist of embodied carbon from the production of construction materials and operational carbon from energy consumption during daily operation (e.g., air-conditioning and lighting). An integrated analysis of both types of carbon emissions can strengthen the design of low carbon buildings, but most of the previous studies concentrated mainly on either embodied or operational carbon. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to develop a holistic methodology framework considering both embodied and operational carbon, in order to enhance the sustainable design of low carbon high-rise buildings. The framework will be based on the building information modeling (BIM) technology because BIM can be integrated with simulation systems and digital models of different disciplines, thereby enabling a holistic design and assessment of low carbon buildings. Structural analysis program is first coupled with BIM to validate the structural performance of a building design. The amounts of construction materials and embodied carbon are then quantified by a BIM-based program using the Dynamo programming interface. Operational carbon is quantified by energy simulation software based on the green building extensible Markup Language (gbXML) file from BIM. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) will be applied to analyze the ambient wind effect on indoor temperature and operational carbon. The BIM-based framework serves as a decision support tool to compare and explore more environmentally-sustainable design options to help reduce the carbon emissions in buildings.

Korea has achieved a rapid economic development and with the increase in population and national income and the expansion of social and economic activities, energy consumption has rapidly increased too. Energy consumption per head has constantly increased and currently, power consumption per head is 7.5 times bigger than in 1985. Buildings occupy 25% of total energy consumption and especially, 50% of total energy is consumed for heating and cooling. In this situation, multi-family housing, which has constantly been increased, has an energy saving rate of 1.9%, which is the lowest level and this makes the government's energy policy for sustainable energy system development useless. Besides, energy consumption leads to secondary problems, such as air, water and marine pollution and heat pollution and wastewater/drainage and the increased use of fossil fuel is a fundamental reason for ozone layer destruction and global warming. Therefore, efficient energy consumption plans are required. This study aims to analyze energy performance in each block type of high-rise and diversified multi-family housing that accounts for 60% of all the housing forms, depending on the variations in stories through BIM-based energy simulation. For this study, four representative block types were selected, based on the multi-family floor plan, which is certified for energy performance evaluation and they were applied to the floor plan of a multi-family house that is scheduled to be built. Then BIM modeling was conducted from the fifth story to the 40th story at an intervals of 5 stories and based on the finding, energy characteristics of each block type and energy performance depending on the variations in stories were analyzed. It is considered that this would serve as objective data for block type and block story decision of energy performance-based multi-family housing.

Currently, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia etc. are actively utilizing energy simulation for efficiency evaluation of building energy. However, domestic energy efficiency assessment system doesn't use energy simulation system properly at present: parameters based architecture plans and Ashrae Standard are inputted for the evaluation, because the input parameters for the simulation haven't been established yet. This fact causes poor reliability during energy simulation, as the values of the two standards are different from each other. Therefore, the aim of the study is to set domestic standard parameter for BIM-based energy performance evaluation, focusing on possession area per person of occupants at government office in Korea. We found that the difference among the result values occurred approximately 3% in the energy simulation. As a result of the analysis, possession area per person of occupants in Government office is $31.87m^2$. Other input parameters may be set based on this. This will increase the reliability of energy simulation through a domestic standard parameter.

As construction projects become bigger, PMIS is being used as a project collaboration tool for project participants, owners, designers, inspectors and contractors. As the data type used in PMIS is usually text and most PMIS have no standard information classification system, there is a problem with data usability, such as the capacity for data search and analysis. BIM uses Objects and Properties, and this information might be used for relating with other construction information. As such, BIM technologies can be used with PMIS to enhance the data usability. The web environment is very convenient for multiple users, but the problem is that the data transfer speed is low for big files such as BIM model files. In this study, we suggested a Virtual Technology (VT) application to enhance the performance of BIM data exchange in PMIS, and tested and analyzed its efficiency when it is used to integrate BIM and PMIS in the web environment. The results of the study showed that VT can be used to enhance the efficiency of BIM data exchange in the web environment.

Recently, BIM proliferates at high speeds so that BIM planning is trying to be used in various kinds of engineering. However, when using different software during design phase and construction phase, the problem of mutual compatibility is coming out. Even the BIM technology has been used or the practical applicability has been made into result, it would be fair to say that BIM has limitations in the visual level. In this research, it is meaningless to obtain the BIM result as the primary purpose. As the usefulness of it is judged incomplete, we committed to master the trend and problems of terrain spatial information systems and BIM. Furthermore, the plan of building the BIM in the civil field, especially the civil-BIM based on the technology ofterrain spatial information has been presented. It can be judged through this research that the high-capacity DB of BIM occurred during the whole process may cause poor performance of the following stage the structure system which connects the terrain spatial information and civil-BIM. In order to manage the optimal full cycle, the spatial analysis technology of the stages after choosing the DB has been described.
Currently, BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) design technology lacks analysis function at the planning stage, and there is a lack of understanding and reliability of BIPV design method and system for building designers. To design and consider various building integrated solar design alternatives, the color of building integrated solar is often monotonous or does not match the design direction of the building. In this study, architectural designers can select various color modules in the planning and design process of the building and analyze the characteristics of color module solar cells and compare and analyze the actual solar radiation and predicted solar radiation in Republic ofKorea Seoul to reduce the confusion of design methods. By building a BIM design integrated system that can prove the quality of the building and analyze the shading analysis and power generation performance architecturally, it can improve the reliability of color module solar cell applicability that can express aesthetics in buildings and the predicted solar power generation capacity of each region. In the initial design stage, based on the empirical data of the BIPV system, it is possible to analyze the power generation performance for each installation angle and installation direction by analyzing the surrounding environment and the installation area, and accurately determine the appropriateness of the design accordingly.

To analyze building energy consumption, the building description for building energy performance analysis (BEPA) is required. The required data input for subject building is a basic step in the BEPA process. Since building information modeling (BIM) is applied in the construction industry, the required data for BEPA can be gathered from a single international standard file format like IFCXML. However, in most BEPA processes, since the required data cannot be fully used from the IFCXML file, a building description for BEPA must be created again. This paper proposes IFCXML-based automatic data input approach for BEA. After the required data for BEPA has been defined, automatic data input for BEPA is developed by a prototype system. To evaluate the proposed system, a common BIM file from the BuildingSMART website is applied as a sample model. This system can increase the efficiency and reliability of the BEPA process, since the data input is automatically and efficiently improved by directly using the IFCXML file..
