  • In an attempt to select grape bag, which elevates grape quality and make easy maturation period determination, the following research was carried out at Chungbuk Institute of Agricultural Technology, Grape Experiment Station. Light transmittance rate of bag reached to 11-65% with non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl bags. Non-dripped vinyl perforation and white painting bag resulted in 50 and 75%, respectively. Berry weights in non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl bag were high than that in paper bag. Non-dripped vinyl perforation 50%, white painting bag brought into fruit cracking, shattering, and rotten fruit, making the investigation difficult. Maturation period preceded about 1-4 day with non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl compared with that in paper bag. Soluble solids content with non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl bags was high and acidity showed a reverse result. Coloring extent was developed rapidly with non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl than paper bag. During initial state of coloring, coloring was rapid with Maekban-Stone mixed non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl + non-woven fabric bag. This was rapid with non-woven fabric bag as long appropriate maturation period. Abnormal berry rate was 5.4-7.0% with paper and non-woven fabric bags but brought about as much as 16.6-100% with non-dripped vinyl and it's mixed bags. Appearance quality was the best with index 9.0 for non-woven fabric bag. Maekban-Stone mixed non-woven fabric but non-dripped vinyl performance 50% white painting bag was the least, showing index 1.0. The time consumed for maturation determination was reduced to 74-93% with non-woven fabric and non-dripped vinyl bag compared with 17.4h/10a with paper bag.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of the present study was to examine changes caused by asymmetric bag carrying methods to carry the bag with one shoulder only to plantar pressure during walking. METHODS: Twenty three normal adults without any gait problem participated in the present study. Experimental conditions used consisted of walking without carrying any bag(condition 1), walking wearing a bag on both shouders (condition 2), and walking wearing a bag on the right shoulder(condition 3) and the weight of the bag was set to 15% of each subject's body weight. All the subjects were instructed to participate in all experiments under these three conditions and plantar pressures were measured from the subjects' right and left feet using an F-scan system while the subjects were walking under the three conditions. To analyze the measured plantar pressure, the sole was divided into seven areas (Hallux, Toe, Met1, Met23, Met45, Mid foot and Heel) and maximum plantar pressures in individual areas were measured. RESULTS: The results of measurement of plantar pressures under three walking conditions did not show significant changes in any areas of the left and right feet except for the mid foot area of the right food. The asymmetry between the left and right feet was examined and the results showed significant differences only in area Met23 under condition 2 and did not show significant differences in any other areas. CONCLUSION: On comprehensively considering the results of the present study, it could be seen that asymmetric bag carrying did not have large effects on changes in plantar pressure during walking compared to symmetric carrying. The reason for this is considered to be posture adjusting mechanisms against load positions.

  • The authors reconstruct a mooring type underwater positioning system to measure the movement of bag-net in a set-net by long base line mode with four transponders attached on the bag-net in latitudinal and a transponder fixed on the sea bed. To confirm the practical use of the system, the field experiments were carried out at the Jaran Bay, Kosung, Kyungnam Prov., on October 6, 2000 (neap tide) and November 28, 2000 (spring tide). And the vertical oscillation of bag-net was observed with three data loggers attached on the bottom of bag-net in longitudinal on November 28, 2000. The longitudinal movement range, the latitudinal one and the vertical one of the bag-net were 3.2 m, 3.4 m and 2.1 m. respectively. At the spring tide, these variations were 7.8 m, 7.8 m and 5.0 m, respectively. The vertical oscillation range about the bottom of the bag-net at near point of the slope net, at the middle part and at far point from the slope net were 3.2 m, 3.7 m and 8.4 m, respectively. The depth of the bottom net was decreased and its vertical oscillation appeared frequently when the current speed was more than 10 cm/s and the current direction was significantly different from the longitudinal axis of the bag-net. The variation of hydrophone coordinates measured by the transponder fixed on the sea bed presents that hydrophones equipped to the frame line of the set-net could be moved within several meters due to the tidal current. The fact indicates that the compensation of hydrophone coordinates is necessary to reduce the measuring errors. The position measuring errors of x, y and z axis of the system measured in the cage of aquaculture were 0.6 m, 0.8 m, and 1.2 m, respectively. And the errors of the transponders those were close to the base lines or placed in the baselines were smaller than those of others.

  • This study was carried out to prepare anchovy based powder for instant soup packed in tea bag which can be used handily as a extractives, and to determine the taste compounds of extractives of anchovy based powder for instant soup. The anchovy based powder for instant soup was made by adding of 72% in the redried anchovy, 14% in the sea tangle, 7% in the mushroom and 7% in the katsuobushi to the total mixtures. And the anchovy based powder for instant soup was packed in tea bag. The desirable extraction time are 5 min in package in tea bag with air permeability $100\;m^3/m^2/min$ and over 20 min in package in tea bag with air permeability $65\;m^3/m^2/min$, respectively. Judging from the result of extraction rate of total nitrogen, color and sensory evaluation in extractives of anchovy based powder for instant soup extracted by optimal extraction time, the quality in extractives of instant soup packed in tea bag with air permeability $100\;m^3/m^2/min$ was superior to those of instant soup unpacked in tea bag and of instant soup packed in tea bag of air permeability $65\;m^3/m^2/min$. The principal taste compounds of extractives of anchovy based powder for instant soup packed in tea bag with air permeability $100\;m^3/m^2/min$ were IMP (9.26 mg/100ml in 5% solution) and free amino acids (24.30 mg/100 ml in 5% solution) such as histidine, proline, lysine and taurine. Total creatinine, betaine and TMAO were seemed to act an auxiliary role in taste of extracives of anchovy based powder for instant soup packed in tea bag with air permeability $100\;m^3/m^2/min$.

  • In fishing with the anchovy boat seine, it is required to haul up the bag net without injuring anchovy body. Not to injure anchovy body, the bag net is operated with 30 to 34 crews in the traditional method. With a view point of decreasing crews, the authors tried to operate the bag net with side drum winch and derrick boom. Side drum winch was installed beside the engine casing and it was operated by the main engine through the belt, pulley and bevel gear. The derrick boom, 7 meters long, was installed above the working deck which is located in the stern of the common boat seiner. Three single blocks are attached to the boom, each 2 meters apart from the top. A hook was attached to the free end of the block line for hooking up the bolch line which attached inside the bag net especially prepared for the purpose. The hauling end of the block line was induced to the side drum winch for hauling up the bag net. By using this mechanism, the bag net was hauled up with peeling the bag net just like in the traditional method. So the following results are found. (1) No injury of anchovy body was found in the process of hauling up. (2) The bag net can be operated by mere 14 crews. (3) Duration, spent in hauling up the bag net, was almost the same when the catch are a little amount, and less duration was needed by the experimented method than the traditional one when the catch are a large amount. the bag net. By using this mechanism, the bag net was hauled up with peeling the bag net just like in the traditional method. So the following results are found. (1) No injury of anchovy body was found in the process of hauling up. (2) The bag net can be operated by mere 14 crews. • The purpose of this study was to analyze of the GRF (ground reaction force) parameters according to the change of positions and weights of bag during downward stairs between dominant and non-dominant in upper & lower limbs. To perform this study, participants were selected 9 healthy women (age: $21.40{\pm}0.94yrs$, height: $166.50{\pm}2.68cm$, body mass: $57.00{\pm}3.61kg$, BMI: $20.53{\pm}1.03kg/m^2$), divided into 2 carrying bag positions (dominant arm/R, non-dominant arm/L) and walked with 3 type of bag weights (0, 3, 5 kg) respectively. One force-plate was used to collect GRF (AMTI OR6-7) data at a sample rate of 1000 Hz. The variables analyzed were consisted of the medial-lateral GRF (Fx), anterior-posterior GRF (Fy), vertical GRF (Fz), impact loading rate and center of pressure (COPx, COPy, COP area, COPy posterior peak time) during downward stairs. 1) The Fx, Fy, Fz, COPx, and COP area of GRF were not statistically significant between dominant leg and non-dominant leg, but non-dominant leg, that is, showed the higher COPy, and showed higher impact loading rate than that dominant leg during downward stairs. 2) In bag wearing to non-dominant arm, Fx, Fz, COPx, COPy, impact loading rate and COP area showed increase tendency according to increase of bag weights. Also, against bag wearing to dominant arm, non-dominant showed different mechanism according to increase of bag weights. The Ground Reaction Force parameters showed different characteristics according to the positions and weights of bag during downward stairs between dominant and non-dominant arm.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes of the relative impulse of the foot when carrying 5 types of schoolbag during level walking. Methods: Forty-four normal subjects were divided into 5 groups according to the method of carrying a bag: carrying no bag (condition 1), a backpack (condition 2), a shoulder bag (condition 3), a cross bag (condition 4) and a one-hand bag (condition 5). To evaluate the partial relative impulse, 7 areas were measured on the sole of a foot: the hallux, toe, 1st metatarsal head (Met1) and the 2nd & 3rd metatarsal heads (Met2/3), the 4th & 5th metatarsal heads (Met4/5), mid foot and heel. Repeated one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-tests were used to analyze the statistical data. Results: In the right foot, the relative impulses in every areas revealed no significant difference (p>0.05), however, the relative impulses at Met1, Met2/3, Met4/5 and heel were significantly different between the different conditions (p<0.05). There were significant differences on comparing the relative impulse between left and right foot within one condition, the mid foot in condition 2, as well as the hallux and Met1 in condition 3 (p<0.05). In condition 4, the toe, Met1, Met4/5 and mid foot were significantly different (p<0.05). The values at the hallux, toe and Met1 in condition 5 also were significantly different (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings showed that the symmetrical relative impulse of the foot was present in the case of carrying a backpack, but there was an extra load on specific regions and asymmetrical relative impulses in the case of carrying a shoulder bag, a across bag and a one-hand bag.
