  • In this parer, a wideband low-noise amplifier (LNA) has been realized in a 0.18mm CMOS technology for the applications of subsampling direct-conversion RF receivers. By exploiting the inverter-type transimpedance input stage with a 3rd-order Chebyshev matching network, the wideband LNA demonstrates the measured results of the -3dB bandwidth of 5.35GHz, the power gain (S21) of $12\sim18dB$, the noise figure (NF) of $6.9\sim10.8dB$, and the broadband input/output impedance matching of less than -10dB/-24dB within the bandwidth, respectively. The chip dissipates 32.4mW from a single 1.8V supply, and occupies the area of $0.56\times1.0mm^2$.

  • Various conditions of acetic acid fermentation by Acetobacter aceti B20 strain were investigated and evaluated to optimize the fermentative production of acetic acid. The effects of the initial ethanol concentration on growth and acid productivity in a flask and fermentor were also studied. The growth of A. aceti B20 strain was inhibited as the concentration of ethanol increased. However, the highest total acidity and fermentation yield were 5.34% and 56.1%, respectively when the initial concentration of ethanol was 7% in the batch fermentation. Although the concentration of initial glucose influenced the growth rate of B20 strain, it did not influence the total acidity in the flask culture. When the agitation speed increased, the growth, total acidity and fermentation yield were all improved. In fed-batch fermentation, total acidities and fermentation yields were 7.14-8.76% and 39.1-53.0%, respectively, and their values mostly depended on the feeding methods.

  • Quality characteristics of Yukwa, Korean traditional rice cookie, added with citrus peel (2, 4 and 6%) were investigated. Yukwa was prepared by adding the water homogenate of the peel and the quality characteristics were evaluated by the expansion rate, texture, color, sensory quality and content of total carotenoid, hesperidine and naringin. The expansion rate (1,517~855%) of Yukwa with higher concentrations of citrus peel powder was lower than that of control product (1,740%) and the brittleness followed the same trend. However, the values were in the range of those of the traditional Korean Yukwa. The color of the control Yukwa (L* value: 63.3~49.9, a* value: 10.6~17.8, b* value: 12.6~56.4) was white, but with citrus peel (2~6%) light yellow~yellow (L* value. 63.3~49.9. a* value: 10.6~17.8, b* values: 12.6~56.4). Carotenoid, hesperidin and naringin contents of Yukwa with the addition of peel powder were 0.18~0.51 mg%, 36.55~101.60 mg% and 24.65~70.81 mg%, respectively. The color and the overall acceptability of yukwa with 4% of citrus peel powder were the best. This combination had some orange flavor, but no differences in both sweet and sour taste.

  • In this paper we proposed a new structure of spatial combining power amplifier working in 60GHz global unlicensed band(56-64GHz) for the backhaul in the 5 generation mobile systems. The proposed structure is suitable to realize an antipodal finline transition in millimeter wave band, in which the size of cross section of waveguide becomes about a few mm ${\times}$ a few mm, due to its compact structure of the transition and shows effective heat sinking characteristics because its ground plane can contact to the body metal. However, the HFSS simulation results showed the return loss improvement by 1.27dB and the same insertion loss of -1.65dB compared with the conventional structure, which said nevertheless the advantages, there was no deterioration in the performance.

  • For the W-band remote sensing radiometer, direct detection type radiometer receiver is designed. The receiver should be low noise and high gain of 60 dB unlike communication and radar receiver. The W-band radiometer consist of 4-stage low noise, high gain amplifier, band pass filter and square law detector. The developed direct detection receiver show 4 GHz bandwidth, 56 dB gain, and 4,500 mV/mW voltage sensitivity at integrator output port for -20 dBm input power at 94 GHz.

  • In this paper, we present a compact Ultra-Wideband band-pass filter using a high-pass filter and low-pass filter. The structure of our proposed band-pass filter is very simple and the DGS(Defected Ground Structure) structure is used to get the low-pass filter characteristic. Our proposed band-pass filter can be much smaller than a cascaded filter. As a result of measurement the insertion loss is less than 0.5dB throughout the pass-band of $2.1GHz{\sim}10.56GHz$, the return loss is more than 20dB and the group delay maximum variation is 0.23ns from 0.12ns to 0.35ns.

  • Using time domain reflectometry, the complex dielectric spectra between 10 MHz to 20 GHz has been measured in the whole composition range at 10, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$ for the binary mixtures of ethylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide. For all the mixtures, only one dielectric loss peak was observed in this frequency range. The relaxation in these mixtures can be described by a single relaxation time using the Debye model. A systematic variation is observed in dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_0$) and relaxation time (${\tau}$). The excess permittivity (${\varepsilon}^E$), excess inverse relaxation time $(1/{\tau})^E$, Kirkwood correlation factor (g) and thermodynamic parameters viz. enthalpy of activation (${\Delta}H$) and Gibbs free energy of activation (${\Delta}G$) have been determined, to confirm the formation of hydrogen bonded homogeneous and heterogeneous cooperative domains, the dynamics of solute - solute interaction and the hindrance to molecular rotation in the hydrogen bonded glass forming ethylene glycol - dimethyl sulphoxide system.
