  • The IEEE 802.11 based wireless local area networks are candidates to lead the broadband connectivity in the home and office scenarios. Recently IEEE proposed the 802.11e as a new standard to provide appropriate Quality of Services to a plethora of emerging real-time multimedia and high demanding applications such as high definition movie and audio distribution, video-conference and voice over IP. This paper studies the IEEE 802.11e/IEEE 802.11b interactions focusing on potential unfairness problems that might appear in networks with heterogeneous wireless LAN technologies as well as in the IEEE 802.11e deployment phase.

  • The purpose of this study were to : a) evaluate the nutrition status of one hundred and forty five recipients and one hundred and forty nine non-recipients of home-delivered meals service program, b) examine the teeth status of recipients of the program, c)analyze the nutritional values of meals, and identify the attitudes of recipients and non-recipients were found. Four meals offered by Nambu seniors center were met the recommended dietary allowances in calorie, protein, and vitamin C. The mean score of meal satisfaction was 3.7 out of five-point scale.

Antibacterial evaluation of recombinant lysozyme-HJP24 proteins against various bacterial pathogens, and of its possibility test as a feed additive in piglets (재조합 lysozyme-HJP34 단백질의 다양한 병원성 세균에 대한 항균 효능 및 자돈 사료첨가제의 가능성 평가)

  • The recombinant lysozyme-HJL34 proteins were expressed and purified using commercial Escherichia (E.) coli expression system. Stx2e+ F18+ E. coli, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP), Streptococcus (S.) suis, and Clostridium (C.) perfringens strains were isolated from pigs. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the recombinant lysozyme-HJP34 proteins were examined by means of the microtiter plate method, according to the NCCLS recommendations. The possibility of its as the alternatives to antibiotics was tested in piglets. The MICs were determined as 75 ㎍/mL, 300 ㎍/mL, 75 ㎍/mL, 35.5 ㎍/m against Stx2e+ F18+ E. coli, APP, S. suis, C. perfringens, respectively. A total of 25 piglets were divied 5 groups. The piglets in group A~C were fed with commercial feed and those in groups D, E were fed with commercial feedstuff. All piglets in groups B~E were challenged with virulent Stx2e+ F18+ E. coli, APP, S. suis strains. Groups C and D were treated with antimicrobial from 24 h after challenge. All piglets in group B died within 3 days after challenge. Among 5 piglets in groups C and D piglets, 80% survived after challenge. Among group E piglets, 60% were alive until the end of this study. Therefore, this study indicates that recombinant lysozyme-HJP34 proteins is a suitable possibility as a feed additive for reduction of diseases by bacterial pathogens in piglet feed.

Development of a Predictive Model Describing the Growth of Staphylococcus aureus in Ready-to-Eat Sandwiches (즉석섭취 샌드위치에서의 Staphylococcus aureus 성장예측모델 개발)

  • This study was performed to provide fundamental data on hygiene and quality control of ready-to-eat sandwiches. Predictive models were developed to the kinetics of Staphylococcus aureus growth in these sandwiches as a function of temperature (10, 15, 25, and 35℃). The result of the primary model that used the Gompertz equation showed that the lag phase duration (LPD) and generation time (GT) decreased and the exponential growth rate (EGR) increased with increasing storage temperature. The secondary model showed an R2 for M and B of 0.9967 and 09916, respectively. A predictive growth model of the growth degree as a function of temperature was developed. L(t)=A+Cexp(-exp(-B(t-M))) (A=Initial contamination level, C=MPD-A, B=0.473166-0.045040*Temp-0.001718*Temp*Temp, M=19.924824-0.627442*Temp-0.004493*Temp*Temp, t=time, Temp=temperature). This model showed an R2 value of 0.9288. All the models developed in this study showed a good fit.

A Study on the Burning Rate of Puzzle Mats (퍼즐매트의 연소속도에 관한 연구)

  • The mass loss rate and heat release rate of puzzle mats were analysed using variable external irradiation level. Five samples of puzzle mat were tested in this study : Type A, B, C, D and E. Type A, B and C are all general grades whereas Type D and E are both Flame retardant grades. Incident heat fluxs of $25kW/m^2$, $35kW/m^2$, $50kW/m^2$ and $70kW/m^2$ were selected for these experiments. All samples were tested in the horizontal orientation and were wrapped in a single layer of aluminum foil. Each sample was nominally 20mm thick and 100mm square. The combustion heat and mass loss rate were carried out from Oxygen bomb calorimeter and mass loss calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1 respectively. Heat release rates were calculated using the equation ${\dot{Q}}=A_f{\dot{m}}"_X{\Delta}H_c=0.75A_f{\dot{m}}"{\Delta}H_c$. where $A_f$ is the horizontal burning area of the sample, $\dot{m}"$ is mass loss rate per unit area, ${\Delta}H_c$ is complete heat of combustion and 0.75 is combustion efficiency.

Quality Characteristics of Tofu Prepared with Various Concentrations of Commercial Chungkukjang Powder (청국장 분말 첨가 두부의 품질특성)

  • This study investigated the quality characteristics of tofu(soybean curd) samples prepared with differing amounts of commercial chungkukjang powder(0, 1, 2, 3, 4%). According to the results the 3% chungkukjang tofu 3%(C3) had the highest yield, and the tofus containing chungkukjang powder had higher pH and acidity levels than the control. Turbidity increased and moisture content decreased with increasing chungkukjang powder concentration. And pH, acidity, and turbidity were negatively correlated with moisture content. In terms of color, the L value decreased, and a and b values increased with increasing chungkukjang concentration. For texture, the 1% chungkukjang tofu(C1) had higher hardness, springiness, and cohesiveness values than the other samples. C1 also had the highest overall acceptability score. Finally, sensory properties of taste, texture, and overall quality were positively correlated with the mechanical properties of moisture content, hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and brittleness.

Changes of Biochemical Composition and Activity of Enzyme in the Serum Exposed to Carbon Tetrachloride in Mice (사염화탄소를 투여한 MICE 혈청내 효소 활성 및 생화학적 조성의 변화)

  • Carbon tetrachloride ($CCl_4$) has been used to treat a variety of parasitic infection in both large and small animals, including Fasciola hepatica. Recently, we can easily contest with carbon tetrachloride in air, food, water, rain and Industry area etc. and it is using in order to induce liver injury in laboratory. In this study. we investigated activitis of LDH, ALP, AST and ALT and amount of cholesterol, triacylglycerol, glucose and BUN in mice serum exposed to $CCl_4.$ The mice divided Into a Naive control(A), corn oil control(B) and experimental group(C, D). Naive control group(A) was given feed and water only. Corn oil control group(B) was given corn oil 1ml /100g of body weight(B.W). Experimental group(C) was given carbon tetrachloride 1ml /100g B.W. ($CCl_4$: corn oil=1:20(V /V) ), Experimental group(D) was given carbon teterachloride 1ml /100g B.W. ($CCl_4$: corn oil=1:10(V /V) ). The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1) The body weight was declined after the l0th day In mice exposed to carbon tetra-chloride. 2) The total protein level in serum was significantly in mice exposed to carbon tetra-chloride($P{\leq}0.05$). The albumin and A /G ratio was decresed significantly in mice exposed to carbon tetrachloride($P{\leq}0.01$) 3) All of the activity of LDH, AST, ALT and ALP in mice serum exposed to carbon tetra chloride inclosed significantly activity of LDH ($P{\leq}0.05$), inclosed significantly activity of AST($P{\leq}0.05, \;p {\leq}0.01$), inclosed significantly activityof ALT 3nd ALP($P {\leq}0.05,\;p {\leq}0.01$). 4) The amount of cholesterol and triacylglycerol, lipid metabolite products in serum was inclosed in case of cholesterol but did not change in case of triacylglycerol.

  • The trend of Internet of things are changed from public and examples of corporate center to B2C service. As you can see, through the practice of domestic and international services Internet of Things, conventional disaster, disasters, such as the case of the public sector, factory automation company now mainly direct B2C (Business to Consumer) services are affecting the individual has spread. In this paper we propose a method of platforms and components, and network configuration plan for exploration robot design based on remote control and monitoring system with IoT.

The Cost-Benefit Analysis of the NutriPlus Program in Daejeon Dong-gu Health Center (영양플러스 사업의 비용편익분석 - 대전 동구보건소를 중심으로 -)

  • Although the NutriPlus program has shown considerable evidence of enhancing users' nutritional status, the budget does not cover all eligible mothers and children. This study aimed to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of the NutriPlus program to assess its economic efficiency. 53 families with 79 users in the NutriPlus program at Daejeon Dong-gu Health Center participated in this study with informed consent. The costs and benefits were estimated from both the administrator's and users' perspectives. We converted the time cost into Korean currency based on the minimum wage in 2014. The value of nutrition education and service (B2), estimated by contingency valuation method (CVM), was counted as an economic benefit. 6 families (11.3%) were recipients of national medical care and 22 families (41.5%) paid 10% of the food package cost by themselves. The total cost was \7,450,167 and the total benefit was \12,402,239. The budget for the health center (C1+C2+C3+C4) was \5,984,381 a month. Time and transportation cost for receiving nutrition education (C6) differed significantly according to the economic status of families. Household food consumption increase (C4-B4) was 40,379 in the poverty group, which was four times more than in the other groups. The net benefit (B-C) was \4,852,172 and the B/C ratio was 1.66. Therefore, the NutriPlus program is beneficial in the economic aspect as well as in the nutritional aspect. If the enhancement of nutritional status was also considered, the total benefit would be even higher. These results confirm the legitimacy of a secure budget for the NutriPlus program. And we suggest expanding its budget to cover more eligible individuals to improve people's health and welfare.
