In the development of a high speed and light weight manipulator, it is necessary to consider the flexibility of a robotic arm. The infinite dynamics must be analyzed to obtain the finite mode modeling to achieve the feasible controller design of the robotic arm. The modeling procedures of the flexible robot arm, and natural frequencies and mode shapes by the constrained and unconstrained mode method are illustrated. The transfer function of the robot arm with a payload is also shown. The controller is designed by the pole assignment and optimal control theory to compensate for the unmodelled dynamic effects to the low order system. Also, the pole assignment method involving the harmonic vibration mode is presented through computer simulation.
This paper was studied on the surface discharge characteristics and tracking phenomena on the solid insulator in liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) at atmospheric pressure. In order to investigate the bubbles which have much influence on electric surface discharge in liquid nitrogen, Knife type electrode and plane electrode were arranged in different modes(Mode A, Mode B, and Mode C) and investigated for surface discharge and tracking phenomena. In Mode A, by the movement of bubbles tracking damage was formed under the electrodes. The tracking pattern in Mode B was formed along the electrode axis.
In this paper, the control strategy for high speed operation in light rail transit system is proposed. Recently, the vector control strategy is used to get high capacity control characteristic in low speed area. But Six step mode that is one pulse mode is used in high speed region to use DC link voltage to the maximum. Therefore, in high speed area, the vector control can not be used but scalar control method is used. To get a driving performance to be stabilized, the method of smooth mode change between the low speed and high speed area and PWM control is desired. So this paper proposes the control strategy using vector control include the one pulse mode. And also proposes overmodulation method that makes to change in one pulse mode softly. The performance of traction system will be verified by simulation results using MATLAB and experimental results.
In this paper EMI problems with induction motor drive system using multi-level inverters are investigated. The high power multi-level inverter usually operates with low switching frequency and produces large noises. Generally, EMI consists of the conduction component through source lines and emission component emitted to the space. This conduction component can be classified to the common-mode between source line and ground, and the normal-mode between lines. The EMI filters for the induction motor drive system are designed and implemented to reduce EMI noise. Finally the designed system is verified by the experiment. The experimental results show that both the normal mode and common mode noises are greatly reduced compared to the system without filters.
In this paper, a new speed sensorless control based on an adaptive sliding mode observer is proposed lot the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drives. With using voltage equation only, the adaptive sliding mode observer was investigated. Since the parameter of the dynamic equation such as machine inertia or viscosity friction coefficient are not well known and these values can be easily changed during normal operation, there are many restrictions in the actual implementation. The proposed adaptive sliding mode observer applied to overcome the problem caused by using the dynamic equation. Furthermore, the Lyapunov function is used to prove the system stability included speed estimate and speed control. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.
In this paper, the coupled and the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor for GIS were simulated by finite element analysis and manufactured, and characterized. The maximum sensitivity was 64.3 dB when the resonant frequency of the coupled vibration mode AE sensor was 166 kHz and the maximum sensitivity was 58.9 dB when the resonant frequency of the non-coupled mode AE sensor was 265 kHz. The coupled vibration mode AE sensor responded higher than the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor at the partial discharge detection in GIS.
Acoustic behavior in baffled combustion chambers is numerically investigated by adopting linear acoustic analysis. Partial blade baffle, which is a variant of blade baffle, and hub-blade baffle with six blades are employed as baffle models. Through modal analysis, natural frequencies of each acoustic mode in baffled chambers are calculated and the reduction in natural frequencies caused by baffle installation is examined. Through harmonic analysis, acoustic pressure responses of each chamber to acoustic oscillating excitation are shown. The first tangential mode is found to be most sensitive to acoustic oscillation. Acoustic damping effect of baffle is quantified by damping factor. Damping effect of hub-blade baffle is the most appreciable and damping factor of partial blade baffle is much lower than that of blade baffle. Damping effect of six-blade baflle on the second tangential mode is as much as on the first tangential mode and hub-blade baffle can damp out appreciably the first tangential as well as the first radial mode with the aid of hub.
This paper proposes a common-mode voltage reduction method base on SVPWM(Space-Vector Pulsewidth Modulation) in three phase PWM converter/inverter system. By shifting the active voltage vector of inverter and aligning this to the active vector of converter, it is possible to eliminate a common-mode voltage pulse in one control period. Since the proposed PWM method maintains the active voltage vector, it does not affect the control performance of PWM converter/inverter system. Without any extra hardware, overall common mode voltage dv/dt and conrresponding leakage current can be reduced to two-third of the conventional three phase symmetric SVPWM scheme.
An iterative sliding mode observer is proposed to sensorless control of a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The proposed sliding mode observer has the character which is robust to the disturbance and parameters variation. A low pass filter with the variable cut-off frequency is also proposed to compensate the delay of the rotor angle according to the rotor speed, it is led to save memory and minimize operation time. Experimental results show that the proposed sliding mode observer leads to the proper performance.
We proposed new field/frame mode selection quantization and buffer control strategy for interlaced digital HDTV image coding system. The field/frame mode selection is performed based on the mean square error and number of generated bits for each superblock. The quantization factor for each superblock is determined by the characteristics of human visual system and buffer status. The statistical characteristics of the number of generated bits for basis block and the prediction of buffer status are used for buffer control. Simulation results show that the proposed field/frame mode selection and rate buffer control. Simulation results show that the proposed field/frame mode selection and rate buffer control strategy have good subjective image quality and have stable buffer status.
