  • In this paper, in order to improve the degraded BER performance of the stronger channel user in non-orthogonal multiple access(: NOMA) with interactive mobile users, we propose the negative correlation bit-to-symbol(: B2S) mapping. First, the closed-form expression for the BER of the negative correlation B2S mapping receiver is derived, and then it is shown that the BER of the negative correlation B2S mapping receiver is improved, compared with those of the ideal perfect successive interference cancellation(: SIC) receiver and positive correlation receiver. Additionally, based on the analytical expression, signal-to-noise(: SNR) gain is calculated, and the superiority of the negative correlation B2S mapping receiver is validated.

  • A finite element analysis of a trunnion pipe anchor is presented. The structure is analyzed for the case of internal pressure and moment loadings. The stress results are categorized into the average (membrance) and the linearly varying(bending) stresses through the thickness. The resulting stresses are interpreted per Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code from which the Primary (B/sub 1/) and Secondary(C/sub 1/) stress indices for pressure, the Primary(B/sub 2R/, B/sub 2T/) and Secondary(C/sub 2R/, C/sub 2T/) stress indices for moment are developed. Several analyses were performed for various structural geometries in order to obtain empirical representation for the stress indices in terms of dimensionless ratios.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of the second-order analysis for asymmetric unbraced frame using the load amplification factor suggested by design codes. For this purpose, the first-order analysis with the B1 and B2 factors suggested by KBC 2005 and the direct analysis with the load amplification factors suggested by KBC 2009 were performed for five story - two bay and five story - four bay asymmetric unbraced steel frames. The results of the analyses were compared with the results of the second-order inelastic analysis to evaluate the validity of the suggested methods. The main parameters of the analysis were the shape of the frame, the axial load ratio of the column, the methods of analysis and the location of column. The research results show that the asymmetric shape of the frame deteriorates the validity of the factor B2 and the suggested methods. The range of error is increased in case of irregular or inclined column.

  • This paper describes a new estimation method for deviation coefficients, B and C. using only measured single deviation at a fixed compass bearing. At first, some problems in the deviation synthesis with only two coefficients, B and C, are discussed using observed deviation values measured in the four USS warships. Then, acquisition theories and procedures to obtain optimal coefficients, B and C, are expanded and then the efficiencies of the proposed prediction method are evaluated. As results from evaluations, it is shown that the approximated coefficients, B and C, can give optimal approximation to observed single deviation.

  • This paper describes a new method for the acquisition of deviation coefficients, B and C, using a single observed deviation at a fixed compass heading. At first it discusses some problems in the synthesis of two coefficients, B and C, from various observed deviation values in the four USS warships. Then, new theories and procedures for optimal coefficients, $\^{B}\;and\;\^{C},$ are dealt with and then the validity of the proposed method are evaluated. The result of findings indicates that the approximated coefficients, $\^{B}\;and\;\^{C},$ can give optimal approximation to an single observed deviation.

  • Our objective was to evaluate the CT attenuation coefficient and noise of spatial domain filtering as an alternative to additional image reconstruction using different kernels in abdominal CT. Derived from thin collimated source images was generated using abdomen B10 (very smooth), B20 (smooth), B30 (medium smooth), B40 (medium), B50 (medium sharp), B60 (sharp), B70 (very sharp) and B80 (ultra sharp) kernels. Quantitative CT coefficient and noise measurements provided comparable HU (hounsfield) units in this respect. CT attenuation coefficient (mean HU) values in the abdominal were 60.4$\sim$62.2 HU and noise (7.6$\sim$63.8 HU) in the liver parenchyma. In the stomach a mean (CT attenuation coefficient) of -2.2$\sim$0.8 HU and noise (10.1$\sim$82.4 HU) was measured. Image reconstructed with a convolution kernel led to an increase in noise, whereas the results for CT attenuation coefficient were comparable. Image medications of image sharpness and noise eliminate the need for reconstruction using different kernels in the future. CT images increase the diagnostic accuracy may be controlled by adjusting CT various kernels, which should be adjusted to take into account the kernels of the CT undergoing the examination.

  • Recently various prediction structures have been proposed to exploit inter-view correlation among multi-view video sequences. In this paper, we propose a QP(quantization parameter) selection method for the B frame inserted in the first frames of each GOP(group of pictures), where we change QP for the B frame adaptively to achieve uniform picture quality and overall coding gain. Each B frame is coded with reference to two frames in its adjacent views. We calculate QP for the B frame based on the correlation between the two reference frames, calculated using their rate-distortion costs. By applying the proposed method to the MVC reference prediction structure, we have improved the coding gain by 0.09$\sim$0.16 dB.

  • To avoid ambiguity in counting the number of colony, about 1,500 of colonies grown on B. cereus selective agar plates were grouped into 12 types by morphological difference and then identified by biochemical and 16S rDNA nucleotide sequence. Among them, seven colony types with 11 to 15 mm diameters of halo were identified as B. cereus or B. cereus subsp. cytotoxis. Five mm sized colonies with no halo, which have not been considered as B. cereus according to the manufacturer's manual, were identified as B. cereus. A colony type with double halos of only 6 mm in diameter was also B. cereus. Other three types were proven to be Enterococcus sp., Brevibacillus sp., and B. subtilis, respectively. PCR results showed that only 9 types that are identified as B. cereus strains harbor at least one of B. cereus toxin genes.

  • This paper investigated the accuracy of the current design formulae for the elastic buckling strength of web-tapered I-beams in AISC-LRFD specification. The basic concept is to replace a tapered beam by an equivalent prismatic beam with a different length, but with a cross section identical to that of the smaller end of the tapered beam. The modification factor, B, is used to account for the stress gradient within the unbraced length and the lateral restraining effects offered by the adjacent segments. The modification factor(B) suggested in AISC-LRFD specification was compared with the finite element method(FEM) results. This paper presented a redefined method to calculate the modification factor(B).

  • We show physically and mathematically that magnetoelastic coupling coefficients can be predicted to have a form of $B^{eff}=B^{b}+B^{s}/t$, sirniiarily in effective magnetic anisotropy energy in ultrathin films. The inverse thickness dependnce of magnetoelastic coupling coefficients implies lots of technical potentials.
