Evaluation of the morphology of the canalis sinuosus using cone-beam computed tomography in patients with maxillary impacted canines

  • Purpose: The nasopalatine canal is a well-known, important anatomical structure in the anterior maxilla, but this region contains many accessory canals. The canalis sinuosus (CS) is one of these canals; it contains the anterior superior alveolar nerve, along with veins and arteries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the CS using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in patients with maxillary impacted canines. Materials and Methods: A total of 111 patients admitted to the Istanbul Medipol University School of Dentistry for the exposure, orthodontic treatment, and/or extraction of an impacted canine were included in this study. CBCT images were obtained for these patients under standard conditions. Axial, coronal, and sagittal sections were evaluated to assess the prevalence of CS, the direction and diameter of the canal, its relation with the impacted canine, and its distance from the alveolar crest. Further, possible correlations with patient gender and age were analyzed. Results: The CS could be detected bilaterally in all the evaluated tomography images. The mean canal diameter was significantly larger in males than in females(P=.001). The CS ran significantly closer to the impacted canine when the canal was located horizontally (P=.03). Variations of the canal, such as accessory canals, were identified in 6 patients. Conclusion: CS is an anatomical entity that may resemble periapical lesions and other anatomical structures. Evaluation with CBCT prior to surgical procedures in the anterior maxilla will help to prevent overlooking such anatomical structures and to decrease possible surgical complications.

  • 단층 촬영한 영상을 삼차원적으로 재구성해서 가시화 또는 자동처리와 분석을 하기 위해서는 등방 해상도의 삼차원 영상 자료를 생성하는 보간이 필수적이다. 최근에 제시된 형태기반 보간 방법은 먼저 형태를 분할한 이후, 보간을 행하므로 구조적으로 객체간 뚜렷한 보간 영상을 생성하는데는 유리하지만 대부분 이진 영상을 대상으로 보간을 수행하므로 영상을 이루는 주요 객체들을 표현할 수 없으며 내부 구조를 가시화할 수 없으며 방법상 보간을 위하여 행하는 최소거리 계산시 많은 수행시간을 소모한다는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상을 이루는 주요 구성 객체를 표현할 수 있는 그레이-스케일 영상을 대상으로 보간 영상을 생성하고 이차원 평면상의 최소거리 맵 구성과 삼차원 공간 개념을 고려한 최소거리 맵 수정으로 계산시간을 효율적으로 단축시키면서 고질의 보간 영상을 생성할 수 있는 새로운 형태기반 보간법을 제시하였다.

국내에서 개발된 3차원 임플란트 가상시술 시스템에 의한 영상재구성상의 정확도 (The accuracy of reformatted images using a new virtual 3-dimensional dental implant system)

  • Purpose: To compare the measurements of the mandible and the detectability of the mandibular canal on reformatted images using a newly developed 3-dimensional implant simulation program with traditionally used CT multiplanar reconstruction program and true measurements. Materials and Methods: Ten dry dog mandibles were used in this study. Occlusal templates for CT examination were fabricated and marked with gutta perch a at ten sites. Axial CT scans were taken and reconstructed using DentaScan (D group) and Vimplant program (V group), and each mandible was sectioned at the previously marked sites (R group). Maximum vertical height (H) and maximum width (W) of the mandible, the distances from buccal border of the mandibular canal to the most buccal aspect of the mandible (X), and the distance from the superior border of the mandibular canal to the alveolar crest (Y) were measured, and the mandibular measurements in each group were compared. Detectability of mandibular canal was evaluated using a 3-point scale in both V and D groups by three oral radiologists and compared. Results: H in the V group was slightly greater than that in the D group, and Wand X in the V group was slightly less than those in the D group. H in the V group was less than that in the R group, and Wand X in the V group was larger than those in the R group. The detectability of the mandibular canal did not show statistically significant differences between V and D groups. Conclusion: The results of the experiment show that the newly developed, inexpensive Vimplant/TM/ simulation program can be used as an alternative to the traditionally used, and more expensive CT multiplanar reconstruction program.

2.5 kW 급 프로펠러형 마이크로 수차 매개변수 연구 (Parametric Study of 2.5 kW Class Propeller Type Micro Hydraulic Turbine)

  • A parametric study of a 2.5 kW class propeller type micro hydraulic turbine was performed. In order to analyze the internal flow characteristics in the hydraulic turbine, three dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with shear stress transport turbulence model were used and the hexahedral grid system was used to construct computational domain. To secure the reliability of the numerical analysis, the grid dependency test was performed using the grid convergence index method based on the Richardson extrapolation, and the grid dependency was removed when about 1.7 million nodes were used. For the parametric study, the axial distance at shroud span (L) between the inlet guide vane and the runner, and the inlet and outlet blade angles (β1, β2) of the runner were selected as the geometric parameters. The inlet and outlet angles of the runner were defined in the 3 spans from the hub to tip, and a total of 7 geometric parameters were investigated. It was confirmed that the outlet angles of the runner had the most sensitive effect on the power and efficiency of the micro hydraulic turbine.

대평판 글라스 이송용 공기 부상 이송장치의 개발 (Development of the Air Floating Conveyor System for the Large Glass Sheet)

  • We have prepared a DEMO conveyor device for conveying a large 8G class glass sheet using ahorizontal air-cushion system. This device consists of the body frame and the driving frame that are combined to realize a frame for conveying glass without any contact.The driving frame comprises an air flotation table (bed), drive roller supported at both ends, and ASU. Part of the ASU serves to control the airflow as the chamber consists of a porous pad and fan. Fiber filters replace the porous pad and axial fans serve as an air compressor. In addition, to determine the appropriate glass levitation from the air table, this study examined the design specifications of the applied filter (discharge speed of HEPA and ULPA filters, and flow rate) as well as the height of the and the proper supporting roller height (14mm). Then, after adjusting the position of the ASU and the number of ASUs required to configure the UNIT air floating C/V, we analyzed the height and flatness of the glass and derived the appropriate layout (1140-mm distance between ASUs).

등거리 스테레오 전방위 렌즈의 위치 측정 알고리듬을 위한 파라미터 측정에 관한 연구 (Parameter Estimation for Range Finding Algorithm of Equidistance Stereo Catadioptric Mirrors)

  • 전방위 렌즈(Catadioptric mirror)는 전방위 감시를 위해 널리 사용되고 있다. 대부분의 전방위 렌즈에서의 단점은 전방위 렌즈를 통하여 획득한 영상의 해상도가 위치에 따라 일정하지 않다는데 있다. 본 논문에서 사용한 등거리 전방위 렌즈는 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있도록 설계된 렌즈이다. 실제 등거리 전방위 렌즈를 통한 거리 계산 시 오류의 원인으로는 카메라 영상 센서와 전방위 렌즈와의 축의 어긋남, 설계 시 가정한 focal length의 변화 등을 들 수 있는데 이 중 focal length의 변화는 기구의 정확한 제작으로 해결할 수 없는 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 focal length의 변화에 대처하기 위하여 focal length를 수정하는 방법을 제안한다. 영상 정합을 통해 임의로 선정된 두 개의 object points에 대한 반대편 스테레오 영상에서 대응점을 찾은 후 이들 화소의 원점에서의 거리를 사용하여 경계에 해당하는 화소의 위치를 찾는다. 이렇게 측정된 경계의 위치가 미리 계산된 경계화소의 위치와 다를 경우 제안한 방법으로 focal length의 값을 수정한다. 제안한 방법은 매우 간단한 계산만으로 기존의 반복적 연산을 통해 수행한 focal length 수정 방법과 유사한 성능을 보인다.

EMAT의 유도초음파 비틀림 모드를 이용한 가압중수로 피더관의 균열 검출 (Detection of Cracks in feeder Pipes of Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor Using an EMAT Torsional Guided Wave)

  • 배관에서의 균열 탐지를 위해서 비틀림 모드 유도초음파 검사법을 적용하였다. 배관에서 비틀림 모드의 생성 및 수신을 위하여 배열형 전자기음향 탐촉자 (EMAT, electromagnetic acoustic transducer)를 설계, 제작하였다. 직경 2.5 인치의 배관에 대해 주파수 2000kHz의 비틀림 모드 유도초음파를 적용하였으며 가진용으로 4개의 배열형 EMAT를 제작하였으며, 별도의 수신용 EMAT를 설계 제작하였다. 실제 중수로 피더관 mock-up에 대해 곡관부에 다양한 깊이의 인공 결함을 가공한 뒤 약 2 hi 거리에서 각각의 탐지능을 실험하였다. 결함 깊이가 관 두께 대비 5% 인 경우에도 결함 신호를 탐지할 수 있었으나 결함의 깊이와 신호 진폭과의 관계성은 나타나지 않았다.

아연도금 강판의 점용접재의 피로균형에 관한 연구 (Fatigue Behavior of the Single Spot Welded Joint of Zinc Galvanized Steel Sheets)

  • The behavior of fatigue crack growth in the single spot welded joint of zinc galvanized steel sheets was studied experimentally and analytically based on fracture mechanics. Axial tension fatigue tests were carried out with the BSxGAB specimen that the bare plane(GAB) of monogalvanized steel sheet was spot welded to the double thickness bare steel sheet(BS), and with the GAxGAB specimen that the galvanized plane (GA) was spot welded to the equal thickness bare plane (GAB) 1. The relation between maximum stress intensity factor, K sub(max) and the number of cycles to failure, N sub(f) has shown a linear relation on log-log plot in the spot weld of the zinc galvanized steel sheet. 2. The fatigue strength of BSxGAB specimens is about 23% higher than that of GAxGAB specimens at the fatigue strength of $1\times10^6$ cycles. And the fatigue life of BSxGAB specimens at the same load range increases 6~9 times higher than that of GAxGAB specimens. 3. The general tendency at the angle of bending($\theta$) in an applied load has changed rapidly at the initial 20% of its life. After then, it has changed slowly. The change at the angle of bending has increased linearly as the load range increases. 4. It has shown a linear relation between the location ratio of initiation ${\gamma}$ and fatigue life $N_f$ on the semi-log graph paper. Here $\gamma$ means that the crack distance between main crack and sub-crack, 2L is divided by the nugget diameter, 2r. $\gamma=a{\cdot}log N_f+n$ (where a and n are material constant.)

열린 자기차폐실의 심자도 시스템 (Magnetocardiography System in Open-door Magnetically-shielded Room)

  • We have installed a 61-channel magnetocardiography (MCG) system inside a magnetically shielded room (MSR) with a size of $2.4\;m\;{\times}2.4\;m\;{\times}2.4\;m$. The MCG system consists of 1st-order axial gradiometers containing double relaxation oscillation SQUIDs (DROSs) with pick-up coils of a base line of 70 mm. The MSR holds a shielding factor of 50 at 0.1 Hz and 10000 at 100 Hz, when its door in the middle on a front wall is closed. On opening the MSR door, we have obtained the characteristics of the MCG system with a 2.9 Hz noise generated from an air conditioning unit at 13 m distance off the MSR. In an open-door MSR ($140^{\circ}$ opening), a noise at the center channel increases up to $700\;fT/Hz^{l/2}$ at 2.9 Hz and $1.7\;pT/Hz^{1/2}$ at 60 Hz. MCG signals for a healthy human do not show distortion until the door opens to $45^{\circ}$, but show the effect of noise when the door opens further at $90^{\circ}$ and $140^{\circ}$. With the door opens to $45^{\circ}$, MCG measurement can be performed with ease of door operation and without creating claustrophobia for the patient.

  • 본 연구에서는 주파수 1.5 GHz~1.7 GHz대역에서 동작하는 원형편파 패치 안테나 설계방법에 대해 연구하였다. 광대역 특성과 고 이득을 갖기 위해 패치가 인쇄된 얇은 유전체 기판과 접지판 사이는 공기층을 정하였다. 임피던스 대역폭을 개선하기 위하여 패치의 크기, 패치와 접지판 간 거리, 패치 내부 슬롯의 길이, 급전 위치, 정합 스터브의 길이 등을 조정하였다. 1.5 GHz~1.7 GHz 대역에서 동작하는 안테나를 설계하고 특성을 시뮬레이션하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 반사손실, 이득, 축비, 방사패턴 등의 안테나 특성이 위성항법 시스템에 적절함을 보였다.
