고속도로 휴게소 영양표시 인식 여부에 따른 영양표시 만족도, 구매행동 변화 및 식생활관리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Association among Satisfaction of Nutrition Labeling, Change of Purchase Behaviors, and Dietary Life Care, based on the Awareness of Nutrition Labeling at Expressway Rest Areas)

  • This study was to investigate the association among satisfaction of nutrition labeling, change of purchase behaviors, and dietary life care, based on the awareness of nutrition labeling at expressway rest areas. The subjects (n=903) were divided into two groups, according to the awareness of nutrition labeling: Awareness of Nutrition Labeling (ANL) group, n=367; Non Awareness of Nutrition Labeling (NANL) group, n=536. Effort of health care and identification of nutrition labeling was significantly higher in the ANL group, compared with the NANL group. As for the main reason for not identifying nutrition labeling, 'not interested in nutrition labeling' was the highest in the ANL group, and 'Don't know nutrition labeling is provided' in the NANL group. Identification ratio of nutrition labeling in future was significantly higher in the NANL group, compared with the ANL group among the subjects who didn't identify nutrition labeling before. After their becoming aware, a change of food purchase after reading the nutrition labeling was significantly higher in the ANL group, compared with the NANL group. Health beliefs on the nutrition labeling were significantly higher in the ANL group, compared with the NANL group. Satisfaction of nutrition labeling was also significantly higher in the ANL group, compared with the NANL group. The ANL group also expressed a necessity of expansion of nutrition labeling, compared with the NANL group. In the ANL group, identification of nutrition labeling was significantly higher in the hard effort group, compared with the little effort group of dietary life care. Therefore, improvement and campaign of nutrition labeling for consumers at expressway rest areas, especially for the NANL group, will be effective in identifying nutrition labeling for their health care.

일개 상급종합병원 간호사와 의사의 암성 통증관리 지식 및 인식도 (Knowledge and Awareness of Nurses and Doctors Regarding Cancer Pain Management in a Tertiary Hospital)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare and check the levels of cancer pain management knowledge and awareness between doctors and nurses in a tertiary hospital and to develop an intervention program. Methods: Participants were 725 nurses and 95 doctors working in a hospital from May 2 to 29, 2009. Data were analyzed using t-tests, ${\chi}^2$-tests, and ANOVA with SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: In a comparison of the pain management score, nurses showed significant results for age (p<.001), carrier (p<.001), education (p<.001), workplace (p<.001), and doctors showed significant results only for age (p=.032). Doctors' marks were significantly higher than nurses' in pain management scores (p<.001). Knowledge about analgesic medication (t=-5.38, p<.001) and analgesic drug effect (t=-8.59, p<.001) were significantly different in the pain management subcategory score between nurses and doctors. There were four items with different awareness levels related to analgesics between nurses and doctors. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that it is possible to develop pain education content for nurses and doctors. The findings of this study are useful when seeking to change the awareness level of a medical team regarding opioid analgesics.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Screening Preference: A Survey during the Malaysian World Digestive Day Campaign

  • Background: Although the incidence of colorectal cancer in Malaysia is increasing, awareness of this cancer, including its symptoms, risk factors and screening methods, remains low among Malaysian populations. This survey was conducted with the aim of (i) ascertaining the awareness level regarding colorectal cancer symptoms, risk factors and its screening among the general populations and (ii) assessing the public preference and willingness to pay for colorectal cancer screening. Materials and Methods: The questionnaire was distributed in eight major cities in West Malaysia during the World Health Digestive Day (WDHD) campaign. Two thousand four hundred and eight respondents participated in this survey. Results: Generally, awareness of colorectal cancer was found to be relatively good. Symptoms such as change in bowel habit, blood in the stool, weight loss and abdominal pain were well recognized by 86.6%, 86.9%, 83.4% and 85.6% of the respondents, respectively. However, common risk factors such as positive family history, obesity and old age were acknowledged only by less than 70% of the respondents. Almost 80% of the respondents are willing to take the screening test even without any apparent symptoms. Colonoscopy is the preferred screening method, but only 37.5% were willing to pay from their own pocket to get early colonoscopy. Conclusions: Continous cancer education should be promoted with more involvement from healthcare providers in order to make future colorectal cancer screening programs successful.

P.E.T.가 어머니의 부모역할에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Parent Effectiveness Training on Parental Awareness of Mothers)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of Parent Effectiveness Training (P. E. T.) on (1) parental awareness and verbal control patterns of mothers and (2) the relationship between parental awareness and verbal control patterns of mothers. The subjects were 43 mothers whose children were in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in one of two elementary schools in the City of Seoul. Mothers who participated in a P. E. T. class were assigned either to an experimental or a control group. Mothers in the experimental group received P. E. T. during the study; those in the control group received it after the study. Instruments were the Parental Awareness Interview (Newberger, 1980) and the revised Verbal Control Patters (Gumperz, 1973) for mothers. The data were analyzed by t-tests and Pearson's correlations. The results showed that (1) P. E. T. influenced parental awareness of mothers, and this change was maintained one month after completion of the P. E. T. class. (2) Mothers' verbal control patterns were changed by P. E. T. Specifically, mother' imperative and positional verbal control patterns decreased while personal verbal control patterns increased after P. E. T. (3) P. E. T. was negativeiy related to mother's imperative and positional verbal control patterns but positively related to personal verbal control patterns.

초·중등학생을 위한 디자인적 사고기반의 STEAM교육 프로그램의 효과 (Effect of Design Thinking-based STEAM Program for Primary and Secondary Students)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as 'Science concept awareness', 'Interest', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy'. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing post-test compared to pre-test, 'Science concept awareness', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy' of students were improved. And the 'Interest' wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective variables will be needed.

Breast Cancer Awareness among Middle Class Urban Women - a Community-Based Study from Mumbai, India

  • Targeting breast cancer awareness along with comprehensive cancer care is appropriate in low and middle income countries like India, where there are no organized and affordable screening services. It is essential to identify the existing awareness about breast cancer in the community prior to launching an organized effort. This study assessed the existing awareness about breast cancer amongst women and their health seeking practices in an urban community in Mumbai, India. A postal survey was undertaken with low or no cost options for returning the completed questionnaires. The majority of the women were aware about cancer but awareness about symptoms and signs was poor. Women were willing to accept more information about cancer and those with higher awareness scores were more likely to seek medical help. They were also more likely to have undergone breast examination in the past and less likely to use alternative medicines. High income was associated with better awareness but this did not translate into better health seeking behaviour. Organized programmes giving detailed information about breast cancer and its symptoms are needed and women from all income categories need to be encouraged for positive change towards health seeking. Further detailed studies regarding barriers to health seeking in India are necessary.

중.고등학생의 '청소년을 위한 식생활 지침' 인지율과 실천율 (Awareness and Practice of Dietary Action Guide for Adolescence among Middle and High School Students in Korea)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the adolescents' awareness and practice of Dietary Action Guide for Adolescence, which was developed by the Ministry of Health & Welfare. Subjects were middle and high school students, selected one class each from all of the 16 provinces in Korea, which were 32 schools and 998 students all together. The subjects were asked to self-evaluate the degree of awareness and practice of Dietary Action Guide using the 5 point-Likert scale from July to September, 2010. On average, 55.1% of the students responded that they were aware of the Dietary Action Guide and 49.4% answered that they put Guidelines into practice. The average score of awareness and practice were $3.54{\pm}0.24$ and $3.42{\pm}0.33$, respectively. The awareness score was higher than those of practice score in all the questions in the 6 categories. Awareness score of female students was higher than those of male students but there was no difference by residence area. Awareness and practice of the nutrition education-experienced were higher than those of the inexperienced. Practice score was higher among middle school-students compared to high school students, which reflected the opportunity of taking nutrition related classes. This finding shows that nutrition education for adolescents is important to change their dietary behaviors regardless of gender, residence area and school level.

장애 인식개선 프로그램의 효과성 연구 (The Effect of the Disability Awareness Program)

  • 본 연구는 장애 인식개선 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하고 이를 바탕으로 장애 인식개선 프로그램의 발전방안을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 프로그램을 개발하고 인식개선 프로그램 강사 교육을 진행한 후, 2017년 6월부터 10월까지 전국의 초 중 고등학생과 성인 총 508명에게 프로그램을 실시하여 그 효과를 분석하였다. 장애 인식개선 프로그램의 효과성을 측정하기 위해 '장애 인식 지표'를 활용하였으며, 장애 인식의 변화(장애 이해, 장애인 인권의식)와 장애인에 대한 차별과 다름에 대한 지식의 변화를 분석하였다. 실험설계를 바탕으로 사전사후검사를 실시하였으며, 검사 결과를 기술통계, 대응 t검증, 독립 t검증, 일원배치 분산분석(ANOVA)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 장애인 인식개선 프로그램 전보다 후에 장애에 대한 인식이 개선되었으며, 차별과 다름에 대한 지식도 증가하였음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 성별, 연령, 프로그램 유형에 따라 프로그램 효과에 유의미한 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로, 향후 장애 인식개선 프로그램의 개선방안 및 후속연구를 제안하였다.

농특산물 직거래판매시설에 관한 현장중심의 참여디자인 효과: 참여자의 의식변화를 중심으로 (The Effect of Field-Based Participation Design on Agricultural Direct Sales Facilities: Process Change of Awareness on Participant)

  • 변화하는 사회에 따라 디자인 과정에서도 사용자의 참여를 요구하는 참여디자인이 증가하지만, 실제 디자인개발에서 발생하는 문제 개선이나 참여디자인의 효과를 나타내는 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이에 사용자 현장을 중심으로 한 참여디자인을 통해 참여자의 의식변화 측면에서 효과를 확인하고자, 본 연구에서는 농촌의 농특산물 직거래판매시설을 대상으로 이해관계자 모두가 참여한 참여디자인 프로그램을 통해 참여자 의식변화를 조사하여 현장중심의 참여디자인 효과를 확인하였다. 먼저 문헌고찰 통해 참여디자인의 이해와 연구동향을 살핀 다음 효과분석을 위한 효과 검증모델을 활용하여 설문 문항을 개발하고, 참여디자인 프로그램의 디자인워크숍을 구성하여 이를 현장에 적용하였다. 효과를 분석하기 위한 참여자 의식변화 조사는 프로그램의 사전과 사후에 동기, 지식, 인식, 기능, 참여의 영역에서 디자인전공자를 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하고, 개방형 질문에서 추가로 결과를 보완하여 참여디자인의 효과를 파악하였다. 그 결과, 참여디자인 프로그램을 통해 참여자들은 직거래판매시설에 대한 지식과 기능의 영역에서 효과가 있었고, 참여디자인의 결과에 높은 만족감과 공동 작업의 중요성을 느끼는 것으로 나타났으며, 운영과정에서는 농촌의 현장특성에 맞게 프로그램의 충분한 일정계획 마련과 원활한 디자인 작업을 위한 환경조성이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

순천시 기후학교 환경교육에 대한 초등학생들의 인식 및 교육효과 (Elementary Students's Awareness and Educational Effects of the 'Sunchoen Climate School' Environmental Education)

  • While global warming and climate change have been issues with global implications for ecology and nature as well as for the economy, politics and social sector, Korean's climate change awareness has been reported to be low. This phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that there is neither a systematic and continuous educational program for climate change nor a system to implement and support it. Although environmental education traditionally has not been a center of focus in most schools, the move towards "green growth" in national policies are slowly influencing school education as well. Throughout the year 2009, Green Suncheon 21 has offered a program called 'Suncheon Climate School' designed for elementary schools and regional centers for underprivileged children. Program instructors were sent to schools and centers that requested such climate change education. The aim of this study is to evaluate the success of the program and to provide feedback on its impacts. According to the study, students' interests in climate change have increased after the climate change education, and students found the lectures to be informative and interesting. Students said that they became more aware of the serious consequences of global warming and climate change and found that such education is beneficial and should be available to a wider population. This study suggests that first, school teachers should be aware of climate change and support such educational programs to be a part of the regular curriculum. Second, the content and the level of the program should be designed in consideration of the corresponding school curriculum to make the subject relevant and accessible to students.
