  • This paper describes the electrical design, characteristic and test results of both VVVF Inverter system and a auxiliary power supply system for UTM-01. As the propulsion system for SLIMs, GTO type VVVF inverter is used. IGBT 3 level inverter is adopt in Auxiliary Power Supply system. The control of two systems is fully digitalized by DSP TMS320C31. So a performance of two systems is more improved.

  • This paper proposes a soft switching boost converter with an auxiliary resonant circuit. The auxiliary resonant circuit is added to a general boost converter and that is composed of one switch, one diode, one inductor and two capacitors. The resonant network helps the main switch to operate with a zero voltage switching(ZVS) and auxiliary switch also operates under the zero voltage and zero current conditions. The soft switching range is extended by the auxiliary switch and it is possible to control the proposed converter with a pulse width modulation(PWM). The ZVS and ZCS techniques make switching losses decreased and efficiency of the system improved. A theoretical analysis is verified through the simulation and experiment.

  • This paper proposes a new configuration of 36-pulse voltage source converter which consists of two 6-pulse bridges and a pulse-interleaving auxiliary circuit. The system topology of proposed converter was derived to increase the pulse number of converter output voltage without increasing the number of 6-pulse bridges. The gate pulse generation was analyzed using the theoretical approach of multi-pulse switching converter, The operational feasibility of proposed system was verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software and experimental works with 2kVA hardware prototype. The proposed converter can be widely used for the uninterruptible power supply, the power quality compensator, and the distributed power generation, such as solar and fuel cell power system.

  • This paper represent about design of the controller for battery of Guide-Eye Sign Lamp with traffic auxiliary system for power supply using solar cell. Simulation is represents V-I and power characteristic by Mathematical & Design Center 6.3 & Qnet 2.1. This system is successfully operating with high clearness lights.

  • Recently, a ZVT boost converter is embedded in a power factor correction system. The control circuit of the converter assures soft-switching for all the MOSFETs and load regulation. The PFC system contains additional control circuits which assure the input voltage in a sinusoidal form and feed-forward line voltage regulation. In this paper, a soft switching boost converter with zero-voltage transition(ZVT) main switch using zero-current switching(ZCS) auxiliary switch is proposed. Operating intervals of the converter are persented and analyzed. The proposed results show that the main switch maintains UT while auxiliary switch retains ZCS for the complete specified line and load conditions.

  • With increasing emphasis on non-conventional energy systems and autonomous power generation, development of improved and appropriate generating systems has recently taken on greater significance. This paper describes the performance analysis of a single phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG), suitable for autonomous/standby power systems. The system is also appropriate for wind energy systems and small portable systems. Both windings of the induction machine, the main and the auxiliary, are utilized. One winding will be devoted to the supply excitation current only, by being connected to the excitation capacitor, while the load is connected across the other winding. As the design of excitation, the minimum of self-excited capacitor connected auxiliary winding is determined as the suitable value using a circuit equation of auxiliary winding. For the steady state analysis, the equivalent circuit of the single-phase induction generators is used as a basis for modeling using the double-revolving field theory. The validity of the designed generator system is confirmed by experimental and computed results.

  • HEP(Head Electric Power) system, supplying 3-phase service power to the coach vehicles, is a kind of special auxiliary power equipment which is boarded on 8200 series electric locomotives in KORAIL. This equipment shares high voltage DC link with a main propulsion converter/inverter systems. It was difficult to use high frequency PWM technique so that GTO has been used as a power device same like the main power system. Due to low PWM frequency(300Hz) of HEP inverter, the output voltage has less power quality comparing to normal SIV(Static Inverter) system. In this paper, an optimal PWM strategy is presented for new IGBT type HEP inverter system. Several PWM techniques were investigated to improve output voltage quality under fixed lower filter inductance and not high PWM frequency. Finally PC simulations have been done to clarify its availability.

Design Criteria of the Auxiliary Resonant Snubber Inverter Using a Load-Side Circuit for Electric Propulsion Drives

  • The Design criteria of the auxiliary resonant snubber inverter (ARSI) using a load-side circuit are discussed in relation to electric propulsion drives. In this regard, this paper attempts to develop a set of design criteria for the ARSI. First, the switching characteristics of IGBTs under soft-switching mainly in terms of dv/dt/, di/dt and switching losses are discussed and utilized for optimizing the selection of the resonant components in the system. After that, the proper control strategies of ARSIs are analyzed and simulated based on voltage space vector modulations. Later, the design, control and implementation of the auxiliary resonant circuit suitable for industrial products are analyzed and presented. And finally, other factors including power stage layout, packaging and the choice of current sensors are included. The detailed simulation and experimental results will be included based on a laboratory prototype. The proposed design criteria of the ARSI would help the implementation of an electric propulsion drive system.

  • In this paper, a new line-commutated SCR inverter for renewable power generation system is proposed. The proposed inverter system includes a 6-pulse SCR inverter and an auxiliary circuit. By the proper operation of the auxiliary circuit, the pulse number of the inverter system is increased and the output harmonic currents are reduced. Analysis, control and simulation for 24 pulse operation of the proposed scheme is presented and the experimental results will be provided in the final paper.
