  • This paper is concerned with the development of the piezoelectric energy harvesting(PEH) device for ubiquitous sensor node(USN). The USN needs auxiliary power to lengthen its operational life. In this study, the piezoelectric energy harvesting system consisting of a cantilever with a tip mass and piezoelectric wafer was investigated in detail both theoretically and experimentally. The dynamic model for the addressed system was derived using the assumed mode method. The resulting equations of motion were expressed in matrix form, which had never been developed before. The power output characteristics of the PEH was then calculated and discussed. Various experiments were carried out to investigate the charging characteristics of electrical components. Theoretical and experimental results showed that the PEH was able to charge a battery with ambient vibrations but still needed an effective mechanism which can convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and an optimal electric circuit which dissipates small energy.

레일 전력선통신을 위한 임피던스 정합방안 연구 (A Study on an Impedance Matching Technique for Rail Power Line Communication)

  • 장대 터널 및 급곡선 구간과 같은 시계 확보가 어려운 지역에서 위험 및 안전 정보를 함께 공유하기 위해서는 기관사, 열차 관제사 및 현장 작업자 사이에 보조적인 실시간 열차 정보 통신시스템의 개발이 필요하다. 이에 적합한 열차 정보 통신시스템을 개발하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 작은 노이즈와 신호 감쇄를 동시에 갖도록 하는 레일 전력선 통신을 제안하였다. 이에 대한 레일 전력선 통신의 기초 연구 일환으로서, 본 통신기법의 전송 특성을 향상할 수 있는 레일에 대한 임피던스 측정 및 정합특성 평가가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 자체 제작한 임피던스 정합 트랜스포머와 네트워크 분석기를 이용하여 레일에 대한 반사 및 전파 특성을 평가하였다. 대향 접속방식의 임피던스 반사특성 시험결과로부터 레일 전력선 통신에 적합한 정합용 트랜스포머의 정합비율은 1:3.28임을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 제작한 임피던스 정합용 트랜스포머는 레일 전력선통신에서 투과 신호 전송을 향상할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

디젤발전기가 포함된 독립형 마이크로그리드에서의 BESS 제어기법 및 운전모드 연구 (Control and Operating Modes of Battery Energy Storage System for a Stand-Alone Microgrid with Diesel Generator)

  • In this work, control methods and operating modes are proposed to manage standalone microgrid. A standalone microgrid generally consists of two sources, namely, battery energy storage system (BESS) and diesel generator (DG). BESS is the main source that supplies active and reactive power regardless of load conditions, whereas DG functions as an auxiliary power source. BESS operates in a constant voltage constant frequency (CVCF) control, which includes proportional-integral + resonant controller in a parallel structure. In CVCF control, the concept of fundamental positive and negative transformation is utilized to generate a three-phase sinusoidal voltage under imbalanced load condition. Operation modes of a standalone microgrid are divided into three modes, namely, normal, charge, and manual modes. To verify the standalone microgrid along with the proposed control methods, a demonstration site is constructed, which contains 115 kWh lead-acid battery bank, 50 kVA three-phase DC - AC inverter, and 50 kVA DG and controllable loads. In the CVCF control, the total harmonic distortion of output voltage is improved to 1.1% under imbalanced load. This work verifies that the standalone microgrid provides high-quality voltage, and three operation modes are performed from the experimental results.

부산지역 학교 기숙사에서의 소형열병합발전 시스템의 경제성 분석 (Economic Investigation of Small Scale Cogeneration System in a School Dormitory of Busan Region)

  • The cogeneration system can operate at efficiencies greater than those achieved when heat and power are produced in separate. The optimal system can be determined by selecting the auxiliary system combined with cogeneration system. In the present study, economic investigation has been conducted with the cogeneration electric heat pump(EHP) system and the cogeneration absorption chiller(AC) system to install in a school dormitory. To analyze life cycle cost(LCC), cost items such as initial investment costs, annual energy costs and maintenance costs of each system have been considered. The initial investment cost is referred to the basis of estimated costs, and annual energy costs such as the electric power and gas consumption are based on the data in a school dormitory. LCC is evaluated with the present worth method. Considering investigated results, the initial investment cost of the cogeneration EHP system is more profitable about 24% than that of the cogeneration AC system. The energy cost of the cogeneration EHP system is more profitable about 8% than the cogeneration AC system. The LCC shows that the cogeneration EHP system is the most effective system in the school dormitory.

유압식 엘리베이터용 에너지 저감장치의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of an Energy Saving Unit for a Hydraulic Elevator)

  • 기존의 유압식 엘리베이터에서, 엘리베이터 카는 하강 제어 밸브에 의해 하강하며, 작동유의 유압 에너지는 하강행정 동안 손실 될 수밖에 없다. 본 연구에서는 하강행정 동안 손실되는 유압 에너지를 회수하기 위해서 유압식 엘리베이터용 하이브리드 형 에너지 저감 장치에 대해서 연구하였다. 회수된 에너지는 전기 에너지로 변환하여 저장하고, 저장된 에너지는 엘리베이터의 상승행정 동안에 보조 동력으로 사용하거나 다른 부품의 주동력으로 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과들은 에너지 저감 장치의 출력 특성이 안정적이고 양호하다는 것을 보여주고 있으며, 본 연구를 통하여 유압식 엘리베이터의 하강행정 동안 손실되는 에너지를 회수하는데 성공하였으며, 회수된 에너지를 재사용하는데 매우 유용하다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구는 최근 정부의 에너지신산업 정책 중 하나인 발전소 온배수열 활용사업의 경제성을 분석하고, 동 사업의 활성화를 위한 정부의 경제적 유인 제도를 재구성하였다. LCOE 산출방법을 이용하여 발전소 온배수열 시스템의 경제성을 분석한 결과 현 수준에서는 기름보일러, 바이오매스, 발전소 보조증기보다 LCOE값이 높지만 지열 시스템과는 유사한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 온배수열 시스템의 LCOE 구성요인의 민감도를 측정한 결과, 열공급 거리에 가장 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 온배수열 활용사업을 확대시키기 위한 정부의 경제적 유인제도 구성 시 REC 가중치를 열공급 거리별로 차등 적용하는 것이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

단위 인버터 병렬운전에 의한 발전소 해수펌크 적용 (Studies on the Application of Unit-inverter Parallel Operation to Sea-water Lift Pump in Power Plant)

  • 발전설비의 대형화로 인하여 전력절감 문제가 크게 대두되었고, 팬이나 펌프를 부하 변화에 따라 속도제어하므로써 전기 에너지를 절약 할 수 있다. 1MVA급 단위 인버터 2대를 병렬 운전하여 대용량 2MVA GTO 인버터를 구현하였으며, 단위 인버터의 병렬 운전은 2대의 출력변압기 2차측 결선을 직렬 연결하여 구현하였다. 개발된 시스템은 제어반, 정류기반, 2대의 인버터반으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 시스템은 한국전력공사 성인천복합화력발전처 해수펌프 구동 유도전동기(6.6KV 1500KW)에 적용되어 전력절감에 기여하고 있다. 또 단위 인버터가 상호 180$^{\circ}$위상차를 갖도록 병렬 운전하므로써 고조파 성분을 저감시키면서 대용량을 구현하였다.

지중배전선로 무정전 공법의 최적화를 위한 장비 개발 (Development of outage-free installation method and equipments for underground power distribution system)

  • Underground distribution system is a trend due to the successive development of metropolitan area and satellite cities and the environment of the commercial and residential areas. The high quality of electricity, which is related with the minimal outage duration time due to the maintenance work for the underground distribution line, is mandatory. Hence, the construction method and tools for the outage-free maintenance construction have been required for underground distribution system. So far, all the efforts for outage-free maintenance for the underground distribution have been limited only to the survey for foreign countries situation and the theoretical provision; thus, It is required to develop the various construction method and the application tools. Differently from the aerial line, the construction of the underground cable is complicated and the insulation distance between conductor and shield should be maintained in loadmaking/breaking operation, though the apparatus connected with cable is a deadfront type. Also since the apparatus is installed above ground, by-pass of faulted area at busy area needs a variety of high technologies. Therefore, in this these, the authors introduce the development status of the loadbreak connectors, connection facilities, outage-free maintenance system for secondary side, a secondary auxiliary bushing and additional tools so that there can be more progress on this field.

  • Automobile manufacturers in each country are spurring the development of electric vehicles that use electric energy, an eco-friendly energy, as a futuristic vehicle. Electric vehicles have the advantage of no harmful gas or environmental pollution and low noise. Unlike automobiles using existing internal combustion engines using fossil fuels, electric vehicles use the electricity of batteries to cause rotational motion of motors. In the electric vehicle driven by the motor, it is indispensable to develop a controller for controlling the motor. One of the areas where automobile manufacturers are concentrating is the development of small electric vehicles as a personal transportation means. Small electric vehicles such as electric motorcycles, one-seat electric vehicles and two-seat electric vehicles are expanding the market as a means of operating throughout the city. In the domestic road conditions with many hills, it is effective to have a separate transmission system for small electric vehicles to drive smoothly. In this study, we propose a new type of continuously variable transmission(CVT) system to ensure that small electric vehicles can be driven smoothly in hilly domestic terrain. The proposed CVT system is equipped with a basic disk and a rotational disk in the driving pulley and the driven pulley, respectively, and is applied with a sloping spline to rotate the rotational disk. To commercialize the proposed CVT system, an experimental device was developed to examine the power transmission efficiency and the configuration of the CVT system was proposed.
