  • There are several researches on 2D gaze tracking techniques to the 2D screen for the Human-Computer Interaction. However, the researches for the gaze-based interaction to the stereo images or 3D contents are not reported. This paper presents a gaze-based 3D interaction technique on autostereoscopic display system.

  • Define a designated eye position (DEP) for the 3D displays is a critical issue. It shows the system performance without content issue. We use luminance meter to capture these optical characteristic and discuss between one point measurement, two points measurement and three points measurement situation.

  • In this paper, we found the many effective ways and apply for improve the 3D quality of Autostereoscopic 3D display products. Autostereoscopic products compared to traditional 3D glasses, the disadvantage is the poor depth of 3D picture quality and it only can see the fixed distance and position. So, for the compensate this disadvantage, we use the Head tracking technology and video placement algorithms and several techniques. In this paper, the will report on how to improve the Parallax Barrier Autostereoscopic 3D quality through the Head tracking of the user identification, video replacement algorithms and crosstalk improving method.

  • Stereoscopic/autostereoscopic systems have been developed in order to express true 3D images, but have never had great success in the practical use. In order to apply 3D display to promising applications such as advertisements and games, we've developed a 42" 2D/3D switchable display. It has characteristics that don't require special glasses for 3D images, use multi-view technology for improving 3D viewing characteristics, and has a 2D/3D switching function to express dynamic 3D contents as well as conventional 2D contents.

  • Integral imaging attracts much attention as an autostereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) display technique for its many advantages. Recently the method that uses a curved lens array with a curved screen has been reported to overcome the limitation of viewing angle in integral imaging. This method widens the viewing angle remarkably. However, to understand the proposed system we need to know how the depth is limited in the proposed method also. We analyze the depth limitation and show the simulation results.

  • Even if auto-stereoscopic and polarization based 3D displays are not working with the same principles, their common aim is to provide two different images in the eyes of the observer. In this paper we show that Fourier optics instrument for viewing angle measurements can be applied to both types of displays. Luminance measurements are made at different locations and what will be seen by an observer in front of the display is predicted. Precise 3D characteristics can be derived and direct comparison becomes possible.

  • The analytical expression for quality function is found including the dependence on disparity. The problem is considered in the projective coordinates for which the forward and backward transformation matrices are found. The formation of side observer regions is considered. The probability of the pseudo stereo effect is also estimated. Testing patterns are improved in order to provide higher accuracy of measurements. This is confirmed in experiments.

  • We perform computer simulations of a lenticular autostereoscopic display system and obtain two one-dimensional intensity distributions seen by the left and right eyes of the observer, respectively. Our result shows that the lens period should be smaller than the LCD pixel period as the observer moves closer to the system. We obtain the values of the system parameters for which the intensity distributions are uniform across the lenticular lens array. We also obtain the system crosstalks which represent the right pixel image seen by the left eye and the left pixel image seen by the right eye. Our simulation also shows that the crosstalk increases as the observer moves away from the lenticular system.

  • An advantage of parallax barrier displays is that they can also display 2D and 3D contents and can be automatically switched between the two types. But, as the viewer changes position, different views of the scene will be directed by the barrier to the visual system. Moving horizontally beyond a certain point will produce "image flipping" of the different views of the scene. These limitations make unavoidable the use of another autostereoscopic display solutions like eye tracking or increasing the number of views. In this paper, a method of the moving parallax barrier design is introduced to supplement a disadvantage of the fixed parallax barrier that provides observation at specific locations. For making the moving parallax barrier, the cross connector with 640 lines FPC is designed. A commercially available web camera is utilized to implement eye-tracking system and shows the experimental result.
