Along-Track Position Error Bound Estimation using Kalman Filter-Based RAIM for UAV Geofencing

  • Geofencing supports unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operation by defining stay-in and stay-out regions. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has developed a prototype of the geofencing function, SAFEGUARD, which prevents stayout region violation by utilizing position estimates. Thus, SAFEGUARD depends on navigation system performance, and the safety risk associated with the navigation system uncertainty should be considered. This study presents a methodology to compute the safety risk assessment-based along-track position error bound under nominal and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) failure conditions. A Kalman filter system using pseudorange measurements as well as pseudorange rate measurements is considered for determining the position uncertainty induced by velocity uncertainty. The worst case pseudorange and pseudorange rate fault-based position error bound under the GNSS failure condition are derived by applying a Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitor (RAIM). Position error bound simulations are also conducted for different GNSS fault hypotheses and constellation conditions with a GNSS/INS integrated navigation system. The results show that the proposed along-track position error bounds depend on satellite geometries caused by UAV attitude change and are reduced to about 40% of those of the single constellation case when using the dual constellation.

  • In recent years, as changing the habit of eating, the pathology in the colon grows up annually. The colonoscopy is generalized, but if requires much time to acquire a dexterous skill to perform an operation and the procedure is painful to the patient. biomedical and robotic researchers are developing a locomotive colonoscope that can travel safe1y in colon. In this paper, we propose a new actuator and concept of semi-autonomous colonoscope. The micro robot comprises camera and LED for diagnosis, steer- ing system to pass through the loop, pneumatic actuator and bow-shaped flexible supporters to control a contact force and to pass over haustral folds in colon. For locomotion of semi-autonomous colonoscope, we suggest an actuator that is based on impact force between a cylinder and a piston. In order to validate the concept and the performance of the actuator, we carried out the simulation of moving characteristics and the preliminary experiments in rigid pipes and on the colon of pig.

  • Environmental change, labor shortage, and international trade politics make agricultural automation ever more important. The automation demands the highest technology due to the nature of agriculture. In this paper, autonomous pesticide spray robot system has been developed for rose farming in the glass house. We developed drive platform, navigation/localization system, atomization spray system, autonomous, remote, and manual operation system, and monitoring system. The robot will be a great contribution to automation of hazardous labor-demanding chore of pesticide control in glass houses.

On Safety Improvement through Process Establishment for SOTIF Application of Autonomous Driving Logistics Robot

  • Today, with the development of the Internet and mobile technology, consumers' purchasing patterns have shifted from offline to online. In addition, due to the recent COVID-19, online purchases have significantly increased, and accordingly, the courier industry for logistics delivery has also grown significantly. Various logistics robots are being operated in many industrial and can reduce the labor intensity and physical and mental fatigue of workers. However, if the logistics robot does not properly recognize the people or environment around it, it can lead to a serious accident. We conducted that how logistics robots can perform safe work in a working environment such as a logistics warehouse through the application of ISO/DIS 21448 (SOTIF) to autonomous logistics transport robots. This result is expected to contribute to the operation of unmanned logistics warehouses using AGV.

UGV의 운용적합성 평가를 위한 운용 시험 시나리오 연구 (Study on the Operational Test Scenarios for Assessment of Unmanned Ground Vehicle's Operation Suitability)

  • This paper develops scenarios to evaluate the safety performance of Unmanned Ground Vehicle on military circumstances. The scenarios were created using Pegasus Project 6-layer format. These scenarios consist of straight road, curved road, merging road and crossroad. We adapt these scenarios to unpaved road. The characteristics of unpaved roads were divided into roughness, friction coefficient and road frequency. This adaption is validated via computer simulation. We observe the scan lines of vehicle become tangled of the straight road that make the cognitive abilities of the vehicle low and the lane-keeping is unable when vehicles entering curved off-roads over 40 km/h. The developed scenarios will contribute to enhancing stability from the perspective of introducing autonomous driving technology to Korean military.

  • 본 연구는 자율주행 통합관제센터 및 운행 중인 자율주행자동차에게 보행자의 무단횡단 발생 시 실시간으로 무단횡단 이벤트를 전달하고 보행자에게는 보행신호등에 따른 경고 및 안내방송을 하는 보행자Care 시스템의 개선에 관한 연구로서 보행자Care 시스템의 객체검지방법에 대한 신뢰성 향상과 동일시간, 장소, 객체의 중복이벤트 제거를 통해 정확도 향상을 위한 시스템 알고리즘을 설계하였다. 자율주행실증단지의 수집된 실증데이터를 통해 도출된 개선사항에 제시사항을 적용하여 객체검지에 대한 정확성과 보행자 카운트, 미검지 발생의 개선과 Lidar센서 및 지능형CCTV를 통해 검지되는 각 이벤트 상호매칭을 통해 집계의 정확도가 향상될 수 있도록 제시하였다.

자율차량의 주행을 보조하기 위한 탑승객 탐지 및 공유 시스템 개발 (A Design of Passenger Detection and Sharing System(PDSS) to support the Driving ( Decision ) of an Autonomous Vehicles)

  • 현재 자율주행 차량 연구들은 긴급상황이 대처 가능한 4레벨의 자율주행 차량을 개발하기 위해 매진하고 있다. 차량이 긴급상황에 유연하게 대처하기 위해서는 피해를 최소화하는 방향으로 움직여야 하는데, 이는 주변 보행자, 도로 상태, 주변 차량의 상태 등 주행 중인 도로의 모든 상태를 판단하여 진행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 자율차량 내부의 탑승객 상황을 탐지하고, 그것을 V2V로 주변 차량에 공유하여 이 긴급상황에서 주행을 결정하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 자율차량의 주행을 보조하기 위한 탑승객 탐지 및 공유 시스템을 제안한다. 탑승객 탐지 및 공유 시스템은 현재 차량에서 탑승객을 인식하는 무게 측정 방식을 개선하여 정확하게 차량 내부의 승객 위치를 식별할 수 있고, 각 차량의 승객 위치를 주변의 다른 차량과 공유하기 때문에 긴급상황이 발생할 때 차량의 주행 결정에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 실험 결과, 탑승객 인식 서브 모듈에 적용된 체압 센서는 기존의 공진형 센서보다 약 8%, 압전형 센서보다 약 17% 높은 정확도를 보였다.

Haziness Degree Evaluator를 적용한 Hazy Particle Map 기반 자동화 안개 제거 방법 (Hazy Particle Map-based Automated Fog Removal Method with Haziness Degree Evaluator Applied)

  • With the recent development of computer vision technology, image processing-based mechanical devices are being developed to realize autonomous driving. The camera-taken images of image processing-based machines are invisible due to scattering and absorption of light in foggy conditions. This lowers the object recognition rate and causes malfunction. The safety of the technology is very important because the malfunction of autonomous driving leads to human casualties. In order to increase the stability of the technology, it is necessary to apply an efficient haze removal algorithm to the camera. In the conventional haze removal method, since the haze removal operation is performed regardless of the haze concentration of the input image, excessive haze is removed and the quality of the resulting image is deteriorated. In this paper, we propose an automatic haze removal method that removes haze according to the haze density of the input image by applying Ngo's Haziness Degree Evaluator (HDE) to Kim's haze removal algorithm using Hazy Particle Map. The proposed haze removal method removes the haze according to the haze concentration of the input image, thereby preventing the quality degradation of the input image that does not require haze removal and solving the problem of excessive haze removal. The superiority of the proposed haze removal method is verified through qualitative and quantitative evaluation.

생체모방형 수중로봇의 해양작전 운용개념 및 핵심소요기술 (Applications and Key Technologies of Biomimetic Underwater Robot for Naval Operations)

  • This paper gives an overview on the some potential applications and key technologies of biomimetic underwater robot for naval operations. Unlike most manned underwater naval systems, biomimetic underwater robots can be especially useful in near-land or harbour areas due to their ability to operate in shallow water effectively. Biomimetic underwater robot provide advantages in reaching locations that would be difficult or too dangerous for a manned vehicle to reach, as well as providing a level of autonomy that can remove the requirement for dedicated human operator support. Using multiple or schools of underwater robots would provide increased flexibility for navigation, communication and surveillance ability. And it alleviate some of the restrictions associated with speed and endurance design constraints.

스마트 모빌리티를 적용한 제설장비 개발을 위한 사례분석 연구 (A Case Analysis Study on the Development of Snow Removal Equipment Using Smart Mobility)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 대설 상황 발생시 신속하고 효율적인 도로 제설을 위해 제설 차량과 장비 등에 정보통신기술과 스마트 모빌리티 기술을 활용한 사례들을 찾아보고, 활용방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 국내 및 해외 제설작업 방법에 대한 사례를 조사하고 신 기술을 접목한 제설운영방법을 제시한다. 연구결과: 우리나라 제설장비 운영은 GPS와 CCTV, 도로교통 정보시스템을 활용한 방법이 대부분이며 해외의 경우 도로기상 정보시스템과 도로제설모니터링 시스템을 활용한다. 향후 스마트모빌리티인 자율주행 제설차량을 활용한 제설기술이 개발 될 것을 기대한다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 지자체 및 관련 기관의 제설 장비와 제설 차량 활용 정책에 기여할 수 있다.
