  • Many kinds of microcontrollers such as 8051, PIC16 and Atmega series are used for the automatic control system, home appliances and communication equipments manufacturing. It is very important to understand the basic operational principles of microcontrollers and their design concepts. There are many kinds of educational microcontroller trainers and also they are designed and assembled very complicatedly. For the students or developers, it is very difficult to catch the basic operation schemes and apply the techniques to the control system. And also it requires much cost and time for the various kinds of trainers purchasing. In this paper, standardization of pins layout and peripheral modules for the general microcontroller usage was introduced and tested with 89C2051, 89C51, PIC16F84, PIC16F877, Atmega8535 and Atmega128, etc. As a result of test, it was found that saving the cost and time using this suggested device was possible. And also it was very effective way to understand microcontroller design and programming techniques.

  • CAN communication can minimize the interfacing lines between equipments because it is composed of only the input and output lines, also is used for automatic system including vehicle, aircraft, railway vehicles and robot because the reliability of data is high by the capability of data-related error detect and correcting function. It can also improve the low-reliable and inefficient system which is composed of the existing Wiring Harness(W/H), so in case of vehicle, it is used in place of the present ECU as the new electro-control unit. In this paper, we constructed the electro-control unit of vehicle by using CAN communication and implemented system that could monitor the condition of vehicle through the web or mobile by connecting the electro-control unit to imbedded system. Such a system is expected to be helpful to the intelligent vehicle and the adoption of ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control).

  • The integration of deburring robots into product quality and productivity impact the industrial. In this paper the intelligent system of robotic deburring is proposed integrated with robot system, image processing system, force sensor system and host PC. The size, position, recognition of burr is determined by the information that the image processing system processed. The feed velocity of cutting tool is controlled by the information that the force sensor system processed. The integration of these information can remove the uncertainty of the information of deburring on the cutting path. The result of these technologies is useful for the development of the factory automation and automatic inspection equipments.

  • The New Distribution Automation System(NDAS) was composed of several equipments, computer system, communication system, feeder remote unit, switches and so on. In this paper, we introduce the conception of hardware and software design about Central Control System, the communication method and protocol in Feeder Remote Unit, the Automatic Switch, the operating software, consideration factors in the feeder automation(FA) and the system configuration of NDAS in power distribution test center.

  • Epoxy/mica has been used as the material of high-voltage rotator stator winding due to its high insulation performance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability. In recent years, however, it shows frequent changes in the load of generators and frequent automatic stops due to the significant increase in peak loads from the increase in the applied load of power facilities according to the introduction of advanced and high-technology equipments. Thus, it is necessary to develop new materials that highly develop the conventional insulation materials. Nanotechnology introduced in the present time has become an alternative plan that overcomes such technical limitations. In addition, the nano-scaled intercalation composite has been known as the material that represent excellent electrical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics compared to the conventional materials. This study investigated the dielectric dispersion and relaxation characteristics of the nanocomposite, which was fabricated by mixing epoxy matrix with nano-scaled intercalation mica and clay, according to changes in frequencies and temperatures.

  • This study aims at developing the high speed/intelligent machining system suing the plug/play method of an open architecture controller. The plug/play technology by the Application Specific Function (ASF), can readily implement the open architecture controller into various machining system or other automatic equipments. For the open architecture controller, this study developed the open HMI, screen editor, ASF, visual builder, and controller OS technology as software components. On the other hand, we developed the I/O module and main board as control hardware system. This study, as an example, presents integration of individual component technologies for the plug/play type open architecture CNC system.

  • Generally a TV broadcast video of ball sports is composed from those of multiple cameras strategically mounted around a stadium under the supervision of a master director. The director decides which camera the current view should be from and how the camera work should be. In this paper, such a decision rule is based on the 3D location of ball which is the result of multi-view tracking. While current TV sports broadcast are accompanied with professional cameramen and expensive equipments, our system requires few video cameras and no cameraman. The resulted videos were stable and informative enough to convey the flow of a match.

  • Outfitting system in ship design has huge kinds of standard part. Data base of and automatic design procedure of part master should be included in ship cad in order to reduce the design time. Present study shows an process of part master DB construction of pipe equipments using 3-dimensional CAD environment Attribute and properties of part masters are chosen from JIS standard. As the schema of part masters are stored in data base, 3D geometric model is parsed from the schema.

On the Comparison of Call Overload Control Methodologies in ATM Networks (ATM 통신망에서의 호 과부하 제어방식 비교)

  • Automatic repeated recalling from individual computing equipments such as PC and workstations, to access ATM networks may result in call overload to networks. Call overload causes to waste network resources and fail to meet user call processing QoS requirements. We evaluate two call connection request methods: the back-off recall method(BRM) which makes recall with random waiting time after rejection, and the direct recall method(DRM) which repeats call connection request whenever call request is rejected. We evaluate their performances by simulation and it shows that as the total number of attached terminals to each access node increases, BRM performs better than DRM in terms of the call acceptance level and effective network bandwidth utilization.

  • Islanding of PV systems occurs when the uitilty grid is removed but local sources continue to operate and provide power to local loads. Islanding Is one of the serious problems in an electric power system connected with dispersed power sources. Also, this scan present safety hazards and the possibility of damage to other electric equipments. If the real and reactive power of RLC load and PV system are closely matched, islanding phenomena can't be detected by the passive methods. Several active methods were proposed to detect islanding phenomena. The most effective method is SFS method which was suggested by Sandia National Laboratory. In this paper, a new anti-islanding algorithm is proposed and its validity is verified through simulation and experimental results for utility interconnection of PV system.
