졸음운전의 자동 검출 및 각성 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Automatic Detection and Warning system while Drowsy Driving)

  • Driving is a complex vigilance task that includes improper lookout, excessive speed and inattention. The primary objective of this research is to detect driver drowsiness so that the driver can be alerted to an impending traffic accident in performance. We developed the automatic detection and warning system during drowsy driving. A drowsiness detection system must be able to monitor driver status and detect the detrimental changes of a driver performance. Eyeblink has been found to be a reliable factor of drowsiness detection in earlier studies. As an additional parameter, we also considered the yawning which often occurs in a low vigilance state and predicts the drowsy state. We used a computer vision method to extract the eyeblink and yawning in the face image sequences. When the drowsy state was detected, the driver was refreshed by alarming device and menthol scent generator after deciding the warning level by fuzzy logic. For the evaluation of our system, we measured the physiological parameters such as EOG and EEG. The results indicated that it is possible to detect and alert the driver drowsiness temporarily or continuously by using our system.

Development of an Imaging Based Gang Protection System

  • During maintenance or construction works in or at the tracks of railways, high risks for passengers and railway staff, especially for the workers on the construction site exist. The high risks result out of the movement of rail vehicles, like trains or construction vehicles, which must be faced by using any available technical and operational technologies for securing them against the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the level of protection continuously and to identify new and innovative methods and technologies for the protection of the gang (construction worker, machines and material). Especially on construction sites at line sections with two or more parallel tracks but also with single tracks, there are still a lot of incidents and accidents mostly with seriously injured persons or fatalities. These were mainly gang members that breach the railway-loading gage. By using proper warning or protection systems, the avoidance of such accidents must be achieved. The latest developments. in gang protection systems concern on the one hand fixed barriers in the middle between the construction site and the operated track and on the other hand construction vehicles equipped with automatic warning systems. The disadvantage of such protection methods is that the gang can be warned against an approaching train but a monitoring of the gang members cannot be performed. Only one part of a potential dangerous situation will be detected. If the gang members will overhear the acoustic warning signal of the security staff and the workers will not leave the danger zone in the track, the driver of the approaching train had no chance to react to the dangerous situation. An accident is often inevitable. While the detection of acoustic warning signals by the gang members working on a construction site is very difficult, the acoustical planning of an automatic warning system has to be designed for an acoustic short range level of one meter besides the construction vehicle. The decision about the use of today's technical warning system (fixed systems, automatic warning systems, etc.) must be geared to the technical feasibility and the level of safety which is needed. Criteria for decision guidance to block a track should be developed by danger estimation and economical variables. To realize the actual jurisdiction and to minimize the hazards of railway operations by the use of construction vehicles near the tracks further developments are needed. This means, that the warning systems have to be enhanced to systems for protection, which monitor the realization of the warning signal as a precondition for giving a movement authority to a train. This method can protect against accidents caused by predictable wrongdoing. The actual state of the art technique of using a collective warning combined with additional security staff is no longer acceptable. Therefore, the Institute of Transportation System of the German Aerospace Center in Braunschweig (Germany) will develop a gang warning and protection system based upon imaging methods, with optical sensors such as video in visible and invisible ranges, radar, laser, and other. The advantage of such a system based on the possibility to monitor both the gang itself and the railway-loading gauge either of the parallel track or of the same track still in use. By monitoring both situations, the system will be able to generate a warning message for the approaching train, that there are obstacles in the track, so that the train can be stopped to prevent an accident. And also the gang workers will be warned, while they breach their area.

  • In this paper, a system that detects driver's drowsiness has been implemented based on the automatic extraction and the tracking of pupils. The research also focuses on the compensation of illumination and reduction of background noises that naturally exist in the driving condition. The system, that is based on the principle of Haar-like feature, automatically collects data from areas of driver's face and eyes among the complex background. Then, it makes decision of driver's drowsiness by using recognition of characteristics of pupils area, detection of pupils, and their movements. The implemented system has been evaluated and verified the practical uses for the prevention of driver's drowsiness.

  • As first step of any acoustic defence system, a attacking target warning system needs to be extremely reliable. This means the system must ensure a high probability of target classification together with a very low false alarm rate. In this paper, a algorithms for underwater target automatic classification is available for use in the passive sonar will be presented. In first, we will describe the precise automatic extraction of frequency lines for the detection of acoustic signatures. Also, a neural network and fuzzy based algorithms for target classification will be described. Thus the performances of these algorithms are very good with a high probability of classification.

In-vehicle 통합 운전자지원시스템 효과평가 방법론 개발 및 적용 (Methodology for Evaluating the Effectiveness of Integrated Advanced Driver Assistant Systems)

  • 교통사고 및 사고로 인한 사상자수 감소를 위해 기존의 자동차에 각종 센서나 통신기술 등의 첨단기술을 융합한 첨단안전자동차에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중에 있다. 이러한 첨단안전자동차의 시장진입 및 관련 기술도입을 위해서는 첨단안전자동차 기술의 효과분석을 통한 도입 타당성 평가가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 계층화분석법(AHP: Analytic Hierarchy Process)을 이용하여 첨단안전자동차 기술 중 사고예방의 기능을 가지는 첨단운전자지원시스템의 효과추정 방법론을 제시하였다. 제시한 효과추정 방법론을 이용하여 적응형순항제어장치(ACC: Adaptive Cruise Control), 자동비상제동장치(AEBS: Automatic Emergency Braking System), 차로이탈경고장치(LDWS: Lane Departure Warning System), 사각지역감시장치(BSDS: Blind Spot Detection System)의 네 가지 시스템을 통합하여 평가하였다. 분석결과, 운전자지원시스템의 효과는 약 10.18%의 사고감소 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 적응형순항제어장치는 10.43%, 자동비상제동장치는 10.17%, 차로이탈경고장치는 9.96%, 사각지역감시장치는 10.14%의 사고감소 효과가 있을 것으로 추정되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 추후 첨단안전자동차 시스템 도입시 도입타당성을 제시하는데 기초자료로써 활용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

중력 가속도로 인한 의식상실 감지 및 자동 회복 시스템 개발 (Development of Gravity-induced Loss of Consciousness(GLOC) Monitoring System and Automatic Recovery System)

  • For many years, many pilots lost their lives and aircrafts due to GLOC(Gravity-induced Loss Of Consciousness). Due to the emergence of high-gravity maneuvering aircraft such as the F-16, F-15 and T-50, the automatic GLOC detection and recovery systems are necessary to increase the aircraft safeties even when the pilot loses his consciousness due to high-G maneuvering. This paper addresses the design of GLOC detection, warning and recovery algorithm based on a model of supersonic jet trainer. The system is solely controlled by the pilot's control input (i.e., control stick force) and aircraft status such as attitude, airspeed, altitude and so forth. And, moreover, it does not depend upon any pilot physiological condition. The test evaluation results show that the developed system supports the recovery of an aircraft from the unusual aircraft attitude and improves the aircraft safeties even when the pilot loses his consciousness due to high-G maneuvering.

전략시뮬레이션 훈련에서의 방어적 정보전을 위한 에이전트 기반 위기경보시스템의 개발 (An Agent based Emergency Warning System for Dealing With Defensive Information Warfare in Strategic Simulation Exercises)

  • 특정한 사건의 발생을 감지하기 위해서 인터넷 상의 문서들을 분석하는 소프트웨어는 매우 유용하다. 특히, 오늘 날과 같이 테러의 위협을 감지하는 것이 결정적으로 중요한 시점에서 이러한 시스템의 필요성은 더욱 크다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 소프트웨어의 중요한 응용분야 가운데 하나는, 자동으로 국가 기반의 위기를 탐지해 주는 시스템일 것이다. 본 논문에서는 위기 경보 시스템을 위한 에이전트 기반의 일반적 아키텍처를 제안하고 구현하였다. NIEWS (National Infrastructure Emergency Warning System)라고 명명된 이 시스템은 주어진 문서를 분석하여, 위협을 감지하고, 가능성 있는 위협들을 필요한 정보와 함께 적절한 사용자에게 자동으로 보고해 주도록 설계되었다. 이와 아울러, 본 연구에서는 방어적 정보전에 관련된 위기를 감지하기 위한 체계적인 분석 틀이 고안되고 지식베이스로 구현되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 시스템과 지식기반은 실제로 구현되고, 미육군 전쟁대학의 전략 시뮬레이션 훈련인 SCE (Strategic Crisis Exercise)에 설치되어 활용 되었으며, 여기서 SCE에 필요한 고비용의 분야별 전문가 (SME: subject matter expert)들을 대체 함으로써 많은 비용을 절감할 수 있었다.

  • 국내 외에서 사면 붕괴 조기 경보를 위한 모니터링 및 자동측정기에 대한 많은 연구가 있지만 대부분 사면 붕괴 측정기가 사면의 표층에 설치되어 있어 사면의 붕괴 등 재난이 발생되기 전에 감지 및 경보가 가능한 시스템에 대한 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 록볼트에 센서를 부착하여 사면 붕괴 모의 실험을 수행하였고, 사면 붕괴 초기에 발생하는 사면 거동 특성을 분석하였다. 또한, 숏크리트를 타설한 사면과 자연사면, GFRP와 나선형 철근 록볼트를 사용하여 사면 조건 및 재료 조건에 따른 실험을 수행하고 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 본 연구는 급경사지 및 산사태 위험 지역 등 사면 붕괴 발생 전 조기 감지 및 경보를 통하여 사전에 대피할 수 있는 예 경보시스템 개발 시 기초자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Wireless Sensor Networks will revolutionize applications such as environmental monitoring, home automation, and logistics. We developed forest fire surveillance system. In this paper, Considering the fact that in Korea, during November to May, forest fires occur very frequently causing catastrophic damages on the valuable environment, Although exists other forest fire surveillance system such as surveillance camera tower, infrared ray sensor system and satellite system. Preexistence surveillance system can't real-time surveillance, monitoring, database and automatic alarm. But, forest fire surveillance system(FFSS) support above. In this paper, we describes a system development approach for a wireless sensor network based FFSS that is to be used to measure temperature and humidity as well as being fitted with a smoke detector. Such a device can be used as an early warning fire detection system and real-time surveillance in the area of a bush fire or endangered public infrastructure. Once the system has being development, a mesh network topology will be implemented with the chosen sensor node with the aim of developing a sophisticated mesh network.

  • 침입방지시스템은 네트워크에서 공격 서명을 찾아내어 자동으로 조치를 취하여 비정상적인 트래픽을 중단시키는 보안시스템이다. 수동적인 방어를 하는 침입차단시스템이나 침입탐지시스템과 달리 침입경고 이전에 침입을 중단시키는 개념의 솔루션이다. 침입방지시스템의 보안성 성능은 보안감사, 사용자 데이터 보호, 보안 인증 등에 좌우되며 성능은 탐지시간, 처리량, 공격차단 성능 등에 좌우된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 침입방지시스템의 보안성 성능평가를 위한 모델을 구축하기 위해 CC(Common Criteria : ISO/IEC 15408)와 소프트웨어 제품평가에 관한 ISO 국제표준을 근간으로 하여 융합 성능평가 모델을 구성하였다.
