In this study an automatic roiling-coli labeling system using robot vision system and peripheral mechanism is proposed and implemented, which instead of the manual labor to attach labels Rolling-coils in a steel miil. The binary image process for the image processing is performed with the threshold, and the contour line is converted to the binary gradient which detects the discontinuous variation of brightness of rolling-coils. The moment invariants algorithm proposed by Hu is used to make it easy to recognize even when the position of the center are different from the trained data. The position error compensation algorithm of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator is also developed and the data of the position of the center rolling-coils, which is obtained by floor mount camera, are transfered by asynchronous communication method. Therefore even if the position of center is changed, robot moves to the position of center and performs the labeling work successfully. Therefore, this system can be improved the safety and efficiency.

This paper proposes new preprocessing algorithm to extract minutiae in the process of fingerprint recognition. Fingerprint images quality enhancement is a topic phase to ensure good performance in a topic phase to ensure good performance in a Automatic Fingerprint Identification System(AFIS) based on minutiae matching. This paper proposes an algorithm to improve fingerprint image preprocessing to extract minutiae accurately based on directional filter. We improved the suitability of low quality fingerprint images to better suit fingerprint recognition by using valid ridge vector and ridge probability of fingerprint images. With the proposed fingerprint improvement algorithm, noise is removed and presumed ridges are more clearly ascertained. The algorithm is based on five step: computation of effective ridge vector, computation of ridge probability, noise reduction, ridge emphasis, and orientation compensation and frequency estimation. The performance of the proposed approach has been evaluated on two set of images: the first one is self collected using a capacitive semiconductor sensor and second one is DB3 database from Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC).

This paper propose a method to trace a moving object based on the information directly obtained from MPEG-2 compressed video stream without decoding process. In the proposed method, the motion flow is constructed from the motion vectors involved in compressed video and then we calculate the amount of pan, tilt, zoom associated with camera operations using generalized Hough transform. The local object motion can be extracted from the motion flow after the compensation with the parameters related to the global camera motion. The moving object is designated initially by a user via bounding box. After then automatic tracking is performed based on the mean-shift algorithm of the motion flows of the object. The proposed method can improve the computation speed because the information is directly obtained from the MPEG-2 compressed video, but the object boundary is limited by blocks rather than pixels.

We propose a algorithm to calculate power factor of fundamental waveform in an environment where the voltage and current have been distorted by harmonics. In the proposed power factor computation algorithm, voltage and current are converted to rotating DQ reference frame, and power factor is calculated from active power and reactive power. We compare the proposed method with the conventional power factor measurement method as mathematically. In a condition that voltage and current are distorted by harmonics, the proposed method accurately measure the power factor of fundamental wave, and it is confirmed by simulation using MATLAB. If the proposed power factor measurement method is applied to an automatic power factor control system, a power factor compensation performance can be maximized in harmonic distortion environment. As a result, it is possible to reduce electricity prices, reduce line loss, increase load capacity, ensure the transmission margin capacity, and reduce the amount of power generation.

The purpose of this study is to suggest Vergence Information Extracting Algorithm(VIEA) which enables quick and accurate vergence information achievement for automation of vergence and focus control of horizontal moving stereoscopic camera. Firstly, for this purpose, the geometric structure of horizontal moving stereoscopic camera device was analyzed and linear relation between the vergence and the focus control. Then stereoscopic camera was designed and produced with the application of vergence and focus relation formula. Finally, VIEA that uses Cepstrum filter was employed to implement Automatic Vergence and Focus Controlling Stereoscopic Camera System(AVFCSCS). VIEA showed lower vergence achievement time and error ratio in comparison with existing algorithms. The suggested system in this study substantially reduced the controlling time and error-ratio as to make it possible to achieve natural and clear images. It also simplified the handling of stereoscopic camera for the convenience of end-users.
In general, auto parts production assembly line is assembled and produced by automatic mounting by an automated robot. In such a production site, quality problems such as misalignment of parts (doors, trunks, roofs, etc.) to be assembled with the vehicle body or collision between assembly robots and components are often caused. In order to solve such a problem, the quality of parts is manually inspected by using mechanical jig devices outside the automated production line. Automotive inspection technology is the most commonly used field of vision, which includes surface inspection such as mounting hole spacing and defect detection, body panel dents and bends. It is used for guiding, providing location information to the robot controller to adjust the robot's path to improve process productivity and manufacturing flexibility. The most difficult weighing and measuring technology is to calibrate the surface analysis and position and characteristics between parts by storing images of the part to be measured that enters the camera's field of view mounted on the side or top of the part. The problem of the machine vision device applied to the automobile production line is that the lighting conditions inside the factory are severely changed due to various weather changes such as morning-evening, rainy days and sunny days through the exterior window of the assembly production plant. In addition, since the material of the vehicle body parts is a steel sheet, the reflection of light is very severe, which causes a problem in that the quality of the captured image is greatly changed even with a small light change. In this study, the distance between the car body and the door part and the door are acquired by the measuring device combining the laser slit light source and the LED pattern light source. The result is transferred to the joint robot for assembling parts at the optimum position between parts, and the assembly is done at the optimal position by changing the angle and step.
Power system analyses, which involve the handling of massive data volumes, necessitate the use of effective visualization methods to facilitate analysis and assist the user in obtaining a clear understanding of the present state of the system. This paper introduces an interface that compensates for the limitations of the visualization modules of dynamic security assessment tools, such as PSS/e and TSAT, for power system variables including generator rotor angle and frequency. The compensation is made possible through the automatic provision of dynamic simulation data in visualized and tabular form for better data intuition, thereby considerably reducing the redundant manual operation and time required for data analysis. The interface also determines whether the generators are stable through a generator instability algorithm that scans simulation data and checks for an increase in swing or divergence. The proposed visualization methods are applied to the dynamic simulation results for contingencies in the Korean Electric Power Corporation system, and have been tested by power system researchers to verify the effectiveness of the data visualization interface.
In this paper, we describe the PTP notion of robot manipulators by neural networks. The PTP motion requires the inverse kinematic redline and the joint trajectory generation algorithm. We use the multi-layered Perceptron neural networks and the Error Back Propagation(EBP) learning rule for inverse kinematic problems. Varying the number of hidden layers and the neurons of each hidden layer, we investigate the performance of the neural networks. Increasing the number of learning sweeps, we also discuss the performance of the neural networks. We propose a method for solving the inverse kinematic problems by adding the error compensation neural networks(ECNN). And, we implement the neural networks proposed by Grossberg et al. for automatic trajectory generation and discuss the problems in detail. Applying the neural networks to the current trajectory generation problems, we can refute the computation time for trajectory generation.

Conventionally, PCB fabrication processes detects simply electrical characteristics of TCP and COF by automatic manufacturing system and additionally, by introducing human visual detection, those are very ineffective in view of low cost implementation. So, this paper presents an efficient detection algorithm for short and protrusion-type defects based on reference images by using local binary pattern analysis. The proposed methods include several preprocessing techniques such as histogram equalizing, the compensation of spatial position and maximum distortion coordination Through several experiments, it is shown that the proposed method can improve the defect detection performance compared to the conventional schemes.

The tracking filter plays a key role in the accurate estimation and prediction of maneuvering a vessel's position and velocity when attempting to enhance safety by avoiding collision. Therefore, in order to achieve accurate estimation and prediction, many oceangoing vessels are equipped with the Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA) system. However, the accuracy of prediction depends on the tracking filter's ability to reduce noise and maintain a stable transient response. The purpose of this paper is to derive the optimal values of the gain parameters used in tracking a High Dynamic Warship. The algorithm employs a ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter to provide accurate estimates and updates of the state variables, that is, positions, velocity and acceleration of the high dynamic warship based on previously observed values. In this study, the filtering coefficients ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ and ${\gamma}$ are determined from set values of the damping parameter, ${\xi}$. Optimization of the damping parameter, ${\xi}$, is achieved experimentally by plotting the residual error against different values of the damping parameter to determine the least value of the damping parameter that results in the optimum smoothing coefficients leading to a reduction in the noise corruption effect. Further investigation of the performance of the filter indicates that optimal smoothing coefficients depend on the initial and average velocity of the target.
