  • One of the challenges to increase milk production in a large pasture-based herd with an automatic milking system (AMS) is to grow forages within a 1- km radius, as increases in walking distance increases milking interval and reduces yield. The main objective of this study was to explore sustainable forage option technologies that can supply high amount of grazeable forages for AMS herds using the Agricultural Production Systems Simulator (APSIM) model. Three different basic simulation scenarios (with irrigation) were carried out using forage crops (namely maize, soybean and sorghum) for the spring-summer period. Subsequent crops in the three scenarios were forage rape over-sown with ryegrass. Each individual simulation was run using actual climatic records for the period from 1900 to 2010. Simulated highest forage yields in maize, soybean and sorghum- (each followed by forage rape-ryegrass) based rotations were 28.2, 22.9, and 19.3 t dry matter/ha, respectively. The simulations suggested that the irrigation requirement could increase by up to 18%, 16%, and 17% respectively in those rotations in El-Nino years compared to neutral years. On the other hand, irrigation requirement could increase by up to 25%, 23%, and 32% in maize, soybean and sorghum based rotations in El-Nino years compared to La-Nina years. However, irrigation requirement could decrease by up to 8%, 7%, and 13% in maize, soybean and sorghum based rotations in La-Nina years compared to neutral years. The major implication of this study is that APSIM models have potentials in devising preferred forage options to maximise grazeable forage yield which may create the opportunity to grow more forage in small areas around the AMS which in turn will minimise walking distance and milking interval and thus increase milk production. Our analyses also suggest that simulation analysis may provide decision support during climatic uncertainty.

  • Facility management system has been studied recently due to its increasing demand. As a starting step it is necessary to create 3-D shape of the facility. In this study, we attempted to create 3-D shape of the buildings by fusing the raster and vector information. the raster information comes from stereo aerial photographs and the vector information comes from the existing 2-D digital map. GPS surveying and data conversion using ACAD and ARCINFO also performed to extract building height from stereo aerial photographs. Finally we could be able to perform semi-automatic 3-D building modeling with fusion of two sources of information.

  • A three-dimensional model is constructed to simulate water infiltration in an unsaturated slope from a leaking pipe. Adaptive mesh refinement and time stepping are used, assisted by an automatic procedure for progressive steepening of the hydraulic property function for better convergence. The model is justified by comparing the simulated results with experimental data. Steady-state flow is investigated considering various pipe water pressures, locations and sizes of the opening, and soil layering. The opening size significantly affects the soaked zone around the pipe. Preferential flow dominates along the pipe longitudinal direction in the presence of a loose backfill around the pipe.

  • This study is the selection of optimum forming condition for RP system using ADS. Program using ADS reduces the required time for feedback between design and manufacturing of workpiece. When we produce rapid prototype using RP system, we investigate the relationship between Facetres in system variable number of AutoCAD and roundness of rapid prototype, and we will find optimum forming condition in RP system.

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating intermittent motion and are widely used in many areas. Also, as being interested in research of precision field, cam mechanism is required high accuracy and continuity, In. In this paper, the cam mechanism of filament automatic assembly machine design for precision motion is proposed. The modelling of a cam mechanism, cam profile functions, and the design of the cam considering the precision positioning of the cam mechanism is studied. And, simulation of designed cam mechanism had been carried out dynamic analysis.

  • This paper establishes a compact and practical model for a water-wall system comprising supercritical once-through boilers, which can be used for automatic control or simple analysis of the entire boiler-turbine system. Input and output variables of the water-wall system are defined, and balance equations are applied using a lumped parameter method. For practical purposes, the dynamic equations are developed with respect to pressure and temperature instead of density and internal energy. A comparison with results obtained using APESS, a practical thermal power plant simulator developed by Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, is presented with respect to steady state and transient responses.

Under the environment of CAD/CAM software of Personal Designer, the system has been written in UPL. The geometries of intermediate and final object in deep drawing process, including processes parameters are input for the CAD/CAM system. The input data can be obtained from the results of Pro-Deep. The parts drawing of die sets for each process is generatedin tool design module of the CAD/CAM system. Also, the die assemblydrawings can be obtained. • About a half of Electric power is generated by nuclear power plants in korea. So, the stable operation of nuclear power plant is very important for suppling the essential national electric power. A S/G(Steam Generator) level control is the most difficult system in PWR(Pressurized Water Reactor) nuclear power plant. Because of the non-linear and the non-nominal response of S/G level control, it Is very difficult to control the level by automatic mode or manual mode. The goal of this study is to establish and verify a advanced control algorithm by analyzing, modelling, stability calculation, controller parameter calculation, simulation for S/G level control system.

  • Many algorithms for processing LIDAR data are being developed for diverse applications not limited to patch segmentation, bare-earth filtering and building extraction. However, since we cannot exactly know the true locations of LIDAR points, it is difficult to assess the performance of a LIDAR data processing algorithm. In this paper, we thus attempted the performance assessment of the segmentation algorithm developed by Lee (2006) using the LIDAR data generated through simulation based on sensor modelling. Consequently, based on simulation, we can perform the performance assessment of a LIDAR processing algorithm more objectively and quantitatively with an automatic procedure.
