Optimized design for gate complex and operation method of automated port (자동화 항만에서의 게이트 구조물 및 최적 운영방식 설계)

  • The quantity of container transportation of the world habors is constantly increasing by 8.8 per year until 2011. Present port facilities will not satisfy it. So facility expansion is necessary. Because the processing cost in the harbor becomes to 30% of total transportation expense, major pors inthe world are making an effort in the automation facilities to solve the problems of higher labor costs and indufficient labor and to maximize the efficiency of the work and use of the land. Especially, the automation of the gate, which is the place of cargo's appearance and disappearance, the node which creates the information, is now rising as the important issue. In this study suggest more efficient design for port gate automation. First, calculate scale of gate complex, and compare of 1 step gate and 2 step, and optimal design for automated operation method of gate process.

  • It is a world trend to construct large terminal and develop automated container terminal to attract Super Post-Panamax and provide service which is based on differentiation. In fact, there is insufficient research for automatization of terminal gate since the automatization of current constructed container terminal is only focused on increasing productivity and unmanned system through the automatization of quay, yard, etc. In this paper, we have investigated advantage/disadvantage of existing gate operation systems and compared each gate operation system in the aspect of raising terminal image and the productivity. For the specific study, we have used data from actual terminal gate operation and RFID model business sponsored by MOMAF (Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries). As a result, this paper carried out an efficient gate operation system and it has been expected that it will be performed as groundwork of automated gate operation system which is for design of container terminal and improvement of gate operation system.

  • Today, manufacturing market is highly competitive due to more complex and variable products, shorter delivery lead times, intensified product development rate, customers's increasing concern about quality, durability, maintainability, safety and environmental performance. To survive this environment, development of the automated design system is needed using AutoCAD. This paper represents a computer aided design system for watergate by using AutoCAD R2000 system and its Visual LISP computer language. The developed system ultimately generates the design for water gate through AutoCAD.

사출성형의 게이트 위치 최적화

  • In injection molding, location of gates have great influence on the quality of plastic parts. Usually, they are located by releated trial and errors of experienced mold designers. In this topic we will present the numerical algorithm for finding the optimal gate locations. Optimization algorithm is devided into two stages. In the first stage, candidated optimal gate locations can be found by geometry of part only; whereas in the next step, more acculate gate locations are selected byiterative computation with optimization part and analysis part. So from the following study, we suggested the modified flow-volume method, which will define the optimal gate locations in injection mold design.

  • ATM(Automated-Teller Machine) is a maching that receives and pays money directly. The gate module of an ATM separates forgeries from bills and changes the transfer direction of bills. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of the gate was analyzed numerically and experimentally. The moment of inertia of the gate lever, the suction force of the solenoid and the spring force were measured respectively. And the displacements of the plunger, the vibration of the bracket, the input voltage and current were measured experimentally. The measured dynamic behaviors were simulated numerically using SAMCEF program, which can accommodate the kinematics and vibrations of flexible bodies. Through the analysis, the design factors were found to make a fast and reliable new ATM machine.

  • The golden section search method is widely used to optimize a single design variable in many fields due to its superior advantages of search. In this paper, a new direct search method is proposed by modifying the search structure of the golden section search method; thus, it can be adapted in the optimization of a single design variable for the injection molding process. This proposed method is applied to determine an optimal gate position for the injection molding of a bezel of an automated teller machine for minimizing the injection pressure. Thus, an optimal gate position where the injection pressure is decreased by 4.5 MPa to that of the initial position was obtained with a small number of simulations. It is anticipated that the current proposed search method can be utilized as a practical tool for optimizing single variables for injection molding design.

  • Injection pressure is one of factors that influence part quality. In this paper, injection pressure was minimized by optimizing valve gate locations. In order to perform design optimization, MAPS-3DTM (Mold Analysis and Plastic Solution-3D) was used for injection mold analysis and PIAnOTM (Process Integration, Automation and Optimization) was used as process integration and design optimization. Also we adapted meta models based on design of experiments for efficiency. By using introduced methodology, we were able to obtain a result so that maximum injection pressure reduced by 28% compared to the initial design. And the validity of the proposed method could also be demonstrated.

  • Optimizing multiple design characteristics which are usually in conflict with each other in the injection molding process is frequently becoming a critical problem for designers who work in this area. The purpose of this work is to develop an automated design methodology for optimizing two such design characteristics found in injection-molded parts. A value function based on decision-making theory is used as a means of evaluating the performance of a two-characteristic design alternative. Also, a design space reduction algorithm based on Taguchi's orthogonal arrays is utilized to discover an optimal design alternative. Verification of the developed design methodology is carried out for an actual model with two design characteristics, the weld line and the gate location, to be optimized in computer simulation experiments.

  • In this paper, a new placement algorithm for gate array lay out design is proposed. The proposed algorithm can treat the variable-sized macrocells and by considering the I/Q pad locations, the routing between I/Q pads and the internal region of a chip can be automated effectively. The algorithm is composed of 3 parts. which are initial partitioning, initial placement and placement improvement. In the initial placement phase, a given circuit is partitioned into 5 sub-circuits, by clustering method with considers connectivities of cells not only with I/Q pads but also with related partitioned groups is used repeatedly to assign a unique position to each cell. In the placement improvement phase, the concept of probabilistic wiring density is introduced, and cell moving algorithm is proposed to make the density in a chip even.
