BACKGROUND: Global longitudinal strain (GLS) is an accurate and reproducible parameter of left ventricular (LV) systolic function which has shown meaningful prognostic value. Fast, user-friendly, and accurate tools are required for its widespread implementation. We aim to compare a novel web-based tool with two established algorithms for strain analysis and test its reproducibility. METHODS: Thirty echocardiographic datasets with focused LV acquisitions were analyzed using three different semi-automated endocardial GLS algorithms by two readers. Analyses were repeated by one reader for the purpose of intra-observer variability. CAAS Qardia (Pie Medical Imaging) was compared with 2DCPA and AutoLV (TomTec). RESULTS: Mean GLS values were -15.0 ± 3.5% from Qardia, -15.3 ± 4.0% from 2DCPA, and -15.2 ± 3.8% from AutoLV. Mean GLS between Qardia and 2DCPA were not statistically different (p = 0.359), with a bias of -0.3%, limits of agreement (LOA) of 3.7%, and an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.88. Mean GLS between Qardia and AutoLV were not statistically different (p = 0.637), with a bias of -0.2%, LOA of 3.4%, and an ICC of 0.89. The coefficient of variation (CV) for intra-observer variability was 4.4% for Qardia, 8.4% 2DCPA, and 7.7% AutoLV. The CV for inter-observer variability was 4.5%, 8.1%, and 8.0%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: In echocardiographic datasets of good image quality analyzed at an independent core laboratory using a standardized annotation method, a novel web-based tool for GLS analysis showed consistent results when compared with two algorithms of an established platform. Moreover, inter- and intra-observer reproducibility results were excellent.

Purpose : As hearing ability affects language and cognitive development, early detection and intervention of congenital hearing defects is very important. We analyzed the result of newborn hearing screening using automated auditory brainstem response and estimated the incidence of congenital hearing defects in newborn infants in Korea. Methods : Hearing screening tests were done on 7,218 newborn infants who were delivered at Cheil General Hospital from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005. The first screening test was done on the second day of life with automated auditory brainstem response(AABR) using $ALGO{\bigcirc}^{(3)}$ Newborn hearing screener($Natus^{(R)}$ Medical Incorporated, San Carlos, USA) with 35 dB sound level. The newborn infants who did not pass the initial screening test took the second screening AABR test before discharge from the nursery. Infants who did not pass these screenings at the nursery were followed up at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Samsung Seoul Hospital. Results : Total 7,218 infants(83.3 percent of total 8,664 live births of the Cheil General Hospital) were screened in the nursery, and 55 of them failed to pass the newborn screening. Among 55 infants who were referred, six were lost during follow-up, and 14 were confirmed as hearing impaired. Six of them(42.8 percent) do not have any risk factors for hearing impairment. We can estimate that the incidence of hearing defects is about 1.9-2.8 per 1,000 live births. Conclusion : Automated auditory brainstem response is an effective tool to screen the hearing of newborn infants. Congenital hearing loss is more frequent than metabolic diseases on which screening tests are available in the newborn period. About 40 percent of infants who have hearing defects do not have any risk factors for hearing impairment. Therefore, universal newborn hearing screening must be recommended to all neonates.

Weather data for disease forecasts are usually derived from automated weather stations (AWS) that may be dispersed across a region in an irregular pattern. We have developed an alternative method to simulate local scale, high-resolution weather and plant disease in a grid pattern. The system incorporates a simplified mesoscale boundary layer model, LAWSS, for estimating local conditions such as air temperature and relative humidity. It also integrates special models for estimating of surface wetness duration and disease forecasts, such as the grapevine downy mildew forecast model, DMCast. The system can recreate weather forecasts utilizing the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis database, which contains over 57 years of archived and corrected global upper air conditions. The highest horizontal resolution of 0.150 km was achieved by running 5-step nested child grids inside coarse mother grids. Over the Finger Lakes and Chautauqua Lake regions of New York State, the system simulated three growing seasons for estimating the risk of grape downy mildew with 1 km resolution. Outputs were represented as regional maps or as site-specific graphs. The highest resolutions were achieved over North America, but the system is functional for any global location. The system is expected to be a powerful tool for site selection and reanalysis of historical plant disease epidemics.

According to the requirement of wing weight estimation and frequent adjustments during aircraft conceptual design, a wing weight estimation method considering the constraints of structural strength and stiffness is proposed to help designers make wing weight estimations rapidly and accurately. This method implements weight predictions on the basis of structure weight optimization with stiffness constraints and strength constraints, which include achievement of wing shape parametric modeling, rapid structure layout, finite element (FE) model automated generation, load calculation, structure analysis, weight optimization, and weight computed based on modeling. A software tool is developed with this wing weight estimation method. This software can realize the whole process of wing weight estimation with the method and the workload of wing weight estimation is reduced because much of the work can be completed by the software. Finally, an example is given to illustrate that this weight estimation method is effective.
Cutting process has been automated by progress of CNC and CAD/CAM, but polishing process has been depended on only experiential knowledge of expert. To automate the polishing pricess polishing robot with 2 degrees of freedom which is attached to a machining center with 3 degrees of freedom has been developed. this automatic polishing robot is able to keep the polishing tool normal on the curved surface of die to improve a performance of polishing. Polishing task for a curved surface die demands repetitive operation and high precision, but conventional control algorithm can not cope with the problem of disturbance such as a change of load. In this research, we develop robust controller using real time sliding mode algorithm. To obtain gain parameters of sliding model control input, the signal compression method is used to identify polishing robot system. To obtain an effect of 5 degrees of freedom motion, 5 axes NC data for polishing are divided into data of two types for 3 axis machining center and 2 axis polishing are divided into data of two types for 3 axis machining center and 2 axis polishing robot. To find an efficient polishing condition to obtain high quality, various experiments are carried out.
By means of flexible forming processes in sheet metal manufacturing it is possible to produce parts of complex geometry within short manufacturing time. These procedures are suitable especially for prototyping or adjustment of deformation. Here formative procedures like laser forming are increasingly important, because they make the large-scale-like production of the prototypes with the required materials possible. High accuracy and reproducibility of the products is the precondition of the production. Due to the lack of a forming tool, complex geometries can hardly be manufactured within tolerances. To overcome this problem an automatic closed loop control system for the adjustment of deformations has been developed. An important element of the closed loop control system is the definition of a suitable irradiation strategy for laser forming. For the determination of the irradiation strategy a lot of influences must be taken into consideration from the field of material, geometry and laser. In this paper the improved closed loop control system and the development of an irradiation strategy for 4 mm deep buckles in an ALMgSi1 sheet will be represented. This system can be used e.g. in the automated adjustment of hail damage in car bodies or deformation by heat treatment.

This paper indicates limitations of the existing VOD(Video on Demand)-based on-line education systems and presents the design and implementation of Education on Demand (EOD) system as an alternative. EOD system is based on meta information expressed in XML and component technology. Overall system consists of authoring tool. contents server, learning policy system and contents viewer. which are utilized throughout the learning contents life-cycle. EOD system enables automated contents management using meta information exchange methodology that is conformant to the SCORM meta data presentation scheme. In addition, integrated management of interaction and feedback information along with the learning policy system provides customized learning guide for each individual learner. With the development of EOD system, this paper discusses about advanced on-line education system which surpasses existing content-providing-only systems.

An important technique used by database administrators (DBAs) is to improve performance in decision-support workloads associated with a Star schema is multi-level partitioning. Queries will then benefit from performance improvements via partition elimination, due to constraints on queries expressed on the dimension tables. As the task of multi-level partitioning can be overwhelming for a DBA we are proposing a wizard that facilitates the task by calculating a partitioning scheme for a particular workload. The system resides completely on a client and interacts with the costing estimation subsystem of the query optimizer via an API over the network, thereby eliminating any need to make changes to the optimizer. In addition, since only cost estimates are needed the wizard overhead is very low. By using a greedy algorithm for search space enumeration over the query predicates in the workload the wizard is efficient with worst-case polynomial complexity. The technology proposed can be applied to any clustering or partitioning scheme in any database management system that provides an interface to the query optimizer. Applied to the Teradata database the technology provides recommendations that outperform a human expert's solution as measured by the total execution time of the workload. We also demonstrate the scalability of our approach when the fact table (and workload) size increases.
Museums have recently been expanding their roles as education providers to use websites to provide a variety of information and services including educational programs. In order to better perform their roles as education providers, it is important for museums to commit themselves to making their websites accessible and easy for everyone to use, in compliance with web accessibility. 20 of museum websites were chosen to study the state of web accessibility of domestic museum websites, and were evaluated by using an automated web accessibility evaluation tool called the K-WAH 4.4. And then, we analyze the compliance rates of web accessibility based on 6 Requirements in the KWCAG 2.1. As a Result, only two museums satisfy the compliance rates on 6 Requirements and national & public museums are higher than private museums in compliance rates. So, to improve web accessibility, we comply with accessibility guidelines and design web contents. After witch we should improve web accessibility by modifying insufficient requirements immediately through periodical evaluations.
There has been a rapid growth in the development of mobile application resulting from its wide usage for online transaction, data storage and exchange of information. However, an important issue that has been overlooked is the lack of emphasis on the security issues at the early stage of the development. In fact, security issues have been kept until the later stage of the implementation of mobile apps. Requirements engineers frequently ignore and incorrectly elicit security related requirements at the early stage of mobile application development. This scenario has led to the failure of developing secure and safe mobile application based on the needs of the users. As such, this paper intends to provide further understanding of the real challenges in extracting security attributes for mobile application faced by novice requirements engineers. For this purpose, two experiments on eliciting security attributes requirements of textual requirements scenario were conducted. The performance related to the correctness and time taken to elicit the security attributes were measured and recorded. It was found that the process of eliciting correct security attributes for mobile application requires effort, knowledge and skills. The findings indicate that an automated tool for correct elicitation security attributes requirement could help to overcome the challenges in eliciting security attributes requirements, especially among novice requirements engineers.
