Distribution of the naturalized plants in Korea was studied, based on the references reported by many authors from 1895 to 1980 and on the data obtained by survey of the present authors on 200 localities, 170 overpopulated areas and 30 islands in various size, in South Korea. We could describe 110 species in 27 families, including the pre-1945 records in North Korea. In this paper 14 naturalized species were newly described. Naturalized plants were characterized by dominated annual and hemigeophytes, 75.5% and 17.3%, respectively, in Raunkiaer's life form spectrum. The authors proposed two indices, i.e., Relative Naturalized Degree (RND) and Urbanization Index (UI). Increasing UI values or numbers of the naturalized plants in various localities were showed the correlation to the urbanized degree or population size in their localities.

Authors studied the propulsion efficiency of G. T. 280 to 300 class tuna longliners used in Korea. At first authors calculated the ratios and factors of the ship by use of principal dimensions. In cordance with this ratios and factors authors, examined the effective horse power, propulsion ficiency and brake horse power, and following results are obtained. (1) EHP is slightly increased according to the increasing of Froude number and speed. (2) Value of propulsion coefficient is obtained in the range of 51-54% at the cruising speed an its average is 52% in 6-13 knot of the speed. (3) EHP and BHP are increased according to the increasing of prismatic coefficient at the same speed.

At present, the virtual prototyping technology for complex product is one of the research and application hotspots in current simulation technology. In authors viewpoint, the virtual prototype development for complex product has become a systematic engineering, which can be called the complex product virtual prototyping engineering (CPVPE). In this paper, the architecture, key technologies and its supporting environment of CPVPE are primary discussed firstly. Combined with the research project and primary practice undertaken by the authors, a typical application demonstration of the aerospace complex product virtual prototyping engineering (including mechanism, dynamics, software and control system) is also introduced based on the virtual prototype supporting environment developed by the authors. Finally, some further research works on CPVPE are also presented in this paper.

Objective We wish that oriental medicine theses can now be searched for by computer. So we have studied thesaurus and keywords in OMIS(Oriental Medicine Information System) Methodologies We have compared the keyword with the Thesaurus in the OMIS. So We have analyzed those into the agreement rate and the disagreement rate. Repeatedly, we have analyzed the agreement rate and the disagreement rate in chronological order. Conclusions 1. As the most of authors don't know about thesaurus, So many keywords disagree with thesaurus. 2. Because thesaurus system is very difficult to general authors. So system administors must build synonym data base, if many authors easily use thesaurus system. 3. We have to require institute editor to modify editorial policy. Presently most of institute require only one foreign language keywords, but it must be required foreign and Korean language keywords. 4. We must study not only oriental medicine thesaurus but also the other science thesaurus.

This paper proposes a soft-switching current source inverter for a photovoltaic power system. The proposed inverter has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes, and an LC resonant circuit. The operation of the proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and was verified by computer simulations with SPICE and experimental implementation with a hardware prototype. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power system interconnected with the AC power system.

In general, recognition of Hand written characters requires to apply an algorithm which takes into consideration of the individual differences. Considering the differences, the authors propose a new method for recognizing Hand written Hangul by parallel procedure analyzing both the segments and the structure of the character. In the previous recognition method proposed by the authors two severe restrictions were placed. The element representing consonant/O/ was closed, and the character elements were separated each other. In order to remove these two restrictions, the authors propose an improved algorithm. It is shown that Hangul in its simplified form is well recognized by using this improved algorithm.

To understand the research trend of environmental education(EE) during last two decades, we analyzed a total of 801 research papers published from 1990 to 2008, 418 research papers from "Hwankyungkyouk" and 393 research papers from "The Journal of Environmental Education(JEE)", respectively. The majority of the authors in both journals majored in EE, followed by authors of science education major in "Hwankyungkyouk" and authors of social science major in JEE. In both journals, more researches were data-collected by quantitative method rather than qualitative method. In particular, the ratio of researches by qualitative method have been dramatically increased since the mid 1990s. The significance test was less used in Korean EE researches than those in JEE. In both journals, more EE researches for elementary and secondary school students were accomplished, which tended to be more salient in Korea. The result of the analysis of 119 EE programs in both journals proposed that EE program needs to be developed more diversely in content as well as in educational method.

The performance of the direct adaptive time-delay filter depends on the select time-delay. In this paper, the authors introduce a new scheme to adapt the time-delay which is to be used in conjunction with the direct adaptive command shaping for the improved vibration suppression in flexible motion system. In order to formulate the time-delay adaptation scheme, the authors have analyzed the effect of the time-delay value on the performance of the direct adaptive command shaping filter. By modifying the direct adaptation formula based on the analysis result the authors have established a set of equations to adapt the time-delay toward the optimal value. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed time-delay adaptation approach for the improved vibration suppression.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 4th edition (DSM-IV) has been widely accepted and used for international classification of mental disorder. The DSM has been changed to improve diagnostic reliability and validity through descriptive and categorical approaches which was undertaken atheoretically. The authors reviewed current studies about the DSM-IV classification system and the diagnostic issues of representative categories of anxiety disorder. The authors concluded that the anxiety disorder classification system in DSM-IV has limitations such as a lack of empirical consideration for overlapping features of anxiety disorders and a lack of discriminant validity. To improve diagnostic validity and revise the current DSM-IV classification system, the authors suggested 1) more longitudinal studies for collecting empirical evidence, 2) decreasing the dependence upon operational criteria, 3) deceasing diagnostic boundary blurring, 4) developing disease specific biological diagnostic techniques and 5) continued collaboration between the DSM and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) systems.

This paper covers the insulation coordination of 765 KV transmission line in Korea Electric Power Corporation. The design for the lightning, switching surge, and contamination was conducted to increase the reliability of 765 KV line. The authors have used the result of a limited Westinghouse ANACOM swiching surge study of the Korea Electric Corporation's 765 KV Expansion plan. The study investigated the switching surge overvoltage distribution and maximum switching overvoltage when relosing 765 KV lines. They used the technical data of the suspension insulator for the contamination design, which was available from a foreign insulator manufacture. From this paper, the authors find out that the contamination design dominates to determine the number of insulator and the SOV design dominates the air clearance in the tower. Afterwards the authors will confirm this design by Demonstration Test with Korea Electro-technology Research Institute.
