  • Multimedia services through a network are getting more required according to the realization of B-ISDN construction globally. Business using the Internet will become popular, and so multimedia information systems including telemarketing systems will be developed competitively. VR (Virtual Reality) will help such systems make more realistic and valuable. ln this paper, we present an interactive VR authoring tool and a client/server based multimedia information service system. The VR authoring tool serves an interface with the system when developing its applications.

  • In this paper, we present a design and implementation of HDML(Handheld Device Markup Language) authoring tool that can create and mange HDML documents easily and conveniently, HDML is a markup language which enable acces to the Web using small mobile equipment through mobile networks. The basic limitation of mobile equipments and technical difficulties such as representation of HDML deck/card, definition of activation in each card and management of Hyper-link between cards are solved, in the development process of the HDML authoring tool.

  • In this paper, we present a design and implementation of a TV-Anytime metadata authoring tool for providing personalized data-broadcasting services. The TV-Anytime specifies metadata schema, metadata coding and delivery, and provides service models to provide personalized broadcasting content services at anytime when users want to consume using metadata including ECG (Electronic Content Guide) and content descriptive information in a PDR (Personal Digital Recorder)-centric environment. In spite of a useful services based on TV-anytime metadata, the metadata authoring still remains as a harassing and time consuming task. For easy metadata authoring, the proposed metadata authoring provides the following key functionalities: metadata visualization, media access, and semi-automatic method for editing segment related metadata.

  • This paper proposes a method of simplification for robot simulation creation using functional concise script. General robotics simulation authoring tools require professional knowledge regarding development language and their APIs, and these prerequisites are considered as a big obstacle in implementing robotics simulation. In order to resolve these problems, we developed an authoring tool using functional concise script in building simulation environment, and this concise script composes of simplified service commands and minimum options. In experiment, we educated students and teachers in High school to use this authoring tool and we verified that the proposed method makes it possible to build robotics simulation environment and control simulated robots through one-day training course for the novices.

  • Due to the rapid development of information & communication technology under high performance computing environments, the multimedia production techniques have been applied to a variety of multimedia fields such as general banner advertisements including texts, images and animations, and the internet-broadcasting dealing with videos and sounds. This paper presents an authoring tool with main functions to setup events objects (image, animation, sound, button, area) and to setup action functions, so that non-experts can easily produce multimedia including images, sounds, animations and so on. The authoring tool implemented in Java can be applied to the CD-ROM title production as well as the web-site construction. We can expect that when this authoring tool is used for in multimedia production, both cost and time will be reduced due to its convenience and powerful functions. We have a future plan to integrate intelligent multimedia presentation techniques with the presented tool for the autonomous multimedia authoring works.

  • In this paper, we present an on-line quiz authoring software that helps teachers create an intelligent on-line quiz. It is designed to give each student appropriate diagnostic report using Bayesian inference networks that represent the relationships among knowledge-items. Once the authors design and edit quizzes in quiz authoring page, the authoring tool automatically produces a knowledge-model based on Bayesian inference network, on-line quizzes, and student report pages. It turns out that the on-line quizzes generated by this tool help students identify their weak parts of subject, make learning strategies for the next learning steps and carry out supplementary learning for their weak knowledge-items.

  • This paper presents the development of a certain highly efficient authoring tool for constructing realistic 3D virtual space using image-based rendering techniques based on a virtual space map. Unlike conventional techniques such as TIP, for constructing a small 3D virtual space using single image, the authoring tool developed herein produces a wide 3D virtual space using multiple images. This tool is designed for constructing each small 3D virtual space for each input image, and for interconnecting these 3D virtual spaces into a wide 3D virtual space using a virtual space map. The map consists of three elements such as specific room, link point and passageway, and three directions. It contains various information such as the connection structure, the navigation information and so on. Also, the tool contains a user interface that let users construct the wide 3D virtual space easily.

  • The web technology related with internet at present is changed into the 3D interactive environment form one sided communication of simple contents. In this paper, a high quality interactive Web3D Contents was realized by using the TurnTool, a authoring tool. This paper suggests the method that can easily and quickly realize the Web3D manual which is more realistic md capable of interaction with user. This method makes up for the weak points in the existing Web3D tool system. Therefore we can realize the contents that able to easily interact through minimizing file size md omitting procedure of additional EAI(External Authoring Interface) by using the Java Script.

  • Various contents are needed by many users as more developing the internet technologies. However, the conventional contents service structure can't support these requirements sufficiently. Therefor, the UCC that novel contents type is made based on the Web 2.0 concepts. It is needed the contents authoring tools that can use easily for creating multimedia UCC. In this paper, we analyze problems of exist ActiveX based contents authoring tool and local application based contents editor. we design and propose new authoring system that solve problems of exist system.

  • In this paper, we describe an implementation of indexing and presentation system conforming to TV-Anytime standards. This system has a metadata indexing scheme for multimedia contents, a video indexing algorithm for news and soccer videos, and an MPEG-2 TS player for nonlinear browsing. We also implement an authoring tool for the algorithms mentioned above.
