The Audible Noise Prediction of the Substation due to Transformer Audible Noise and the Field Application of the Low Noise Transformer (변압기 소음에 의한 변전소 소음예측 및 저소음 변압기 현장적용)

  • Recently, there has been a growing interest in the environmental conservation. Accordingly, problems related to the audible noise of transformers have became more frequent. Therefore, it is urgent to find a fundamental solution about the audible noises in the substations. This paper described a sort of fundamental solution to solve the noise problem. As a fundamental solution, we suggested the proper audible noise level of transformers through noise prediction in the substation construction phase. And we applied the low noise transformers which have the predicted noise level. As the result, we are able to satisfy the noise regulation through measuring 43.6dBA at the boundary of substation. It is confirmed that the average error rate of prediction was within 3 percent.

  • Audible noise from corona discharge had been identified as one of the most important factors in the design of conductor configurations for high-voltage transmission lines. 500kV and above. Therefore this paper describes audible noise characteristics of 6 X 480mm conductor bundle in KEPRI 765kV Test Line and Corona Cage. Prediction formula for audible(corona) noise on a 765kV transmission Line was developed using this results.

  • The audible noise produced by corona discharge in high voltage transmission lines is the most important line design consideration. In this paper, more accurate and useful formulas for predicting the A-weighted audible noise during heavy and light rain in alternative current (AC) transmission lines are proposed through comparison with the existing formulas. The proposed formulas are developed by the applications of evolutionary computations (ECs) to audible noise data base from long-term measurement.

  • With the rising utilisation of electrical machines to increase the output-Power of the device several problems occur. Next to probable additional losses and other parasitic effects, aspects concerning the audible noise radiated by the device are of particular interest. This contribution is intended to give an overview to the problematic of the analysis of vibrations and audible noise radiated by electrical machines. It is not the intention of the authors to set off a scientific firework with various complicated equations in this contribution. The paper should rather give an insight in a complicated technical matter and should help to understand the mechanism of vibration and parasitic noise generation in electrical machines. Rotating machines, such as the induction motor as well as non-rotating electrical machines, such as inductors or transformers are studied. The origin of vibrations leading to noise radiations is studied and discussed to illustrate the way in which the analysis of the governing effects can be performed. Magnetically generated radial pullout force waves in rotating electrical machines are the main cause of the excited audible noise, whereas magnetostriction plays an important role in transformers.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to reduce the audible noise generated by TFT-LCD module in mobile applications. We also analyzed impact factors which effect on the audible noise. It is expected that this noise source comes from various impact factors such as vibration of flexible printed-circuit board (FPCB) and LCD panel, and static electricity charged in window and back-light unit. Windowless type and window type models are evaluated to analyze noise level due to the static electricity charged in window. To obtain reliable and reproducible data, we constructed controllable test jig and measurement set-up.

  • If the transmission line voltage is greater than 500kV, audible noise (AN) and hum noise (HN) due to corona discharges on the conductor would be an important design factor for the conductor selection of transmission line. Also there is an aeolian noise: wind noise(WN) from the tower and the conductor due to wind. This paper presents the results of a statistical analysis of audible noise, hum noise, aeolian noise of 6-480mm$^{2}$ conductor bundle in KEPRI 765kV Test Transmission Line which was constructed to develop 765kV double circuit AC transmission line for the first time in the world. The result of the analysis shows that 6-480mm$^{2}$ conductor bundle and tower satisfy configuration the audible noise design criterion of 50dB(A).

  • Recently, there has been a growing global interest in environmental conservation, and the field of electric power equipment has been working to become more environment-friendly. Accordingly, the low noise cooling fan of power transformers was developed through the improvement of blade shape. These are expected to apply to existing power transformers and low noise transformers. It is essential for low noise fan to possess good cooling performance as well as low audible noises. But, there was not analysis on the audible noise level and the cooling performance for low noise cooling fans until present. In this paper, we measure the audible noise level and the flow rate of low noise cooling fans to inspect the performance, Also, we confirmed that the low noise cooling fan is available to apply to power transformers through temperature rise tests of power transformers.

  • This paper specified the measurement results conducted by the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) 765kV double circuit transmission test line that measured the audible noise, hum noise, radio interference, electric field and aeolian measurement. This test line consists of 6-480mm$^{2}$ conductors per phase. The analysis of the test results shows that this 6-Rail conductor bundle satisfies the audible noise criterion under the stable rainy weather condition and the radio interference level under the fair weather. And the other items are also agreed with the design level criterion. (author). 9 refs., 7 figs., 2 tabs.

  • In this paper, a comparative study on the performance of two-phase and three-phase randomized pulse position PWM scheme for mitigation of audible switching acoustic noise in motor drives is done. In the randomized Pulse Position PW, each of two-Phase or three-phase PWM Pulses is located randomly in each switching interval. Simulation and experimental efforts were executed to investigate the spread effects of Power spectra of inverter output voltage, waveforms of ripple current and audible switching acoustic noise. As results, two-phase RP% scheme is more effective from the viewpoint of switching loss and ease of implementation while the three-phase RPWM scheme is more effective from the viewpoint of the spread effects of power spectra. Also, from the view point of the audible switching acoustic noise in motor drives, two-phase and three-phase RPW schemes are nearly the same.

An Study on the Sound Attenuation of Audible Fire Alarm Device in Apartment Buildings (공동주택에서의 화재 경보음 전달특성에 관한 연구)

  • In many fire emergencies, the auditory fire alarm signals are very important to save the occupant's life. But as the sound insulation of building elements has been improved, it is more difficult for occupant to recognize the fire alarm signals when the audible fire alarm worked. This is the first study to show the sound attenuation of audible fire alarm device in apartments. We measured and analyzed the sound attenuation level in seven units. The result showed that it was not sufficient to detect the sound from the fire alarm device in bedrooms. Whether the fire alarm device worked or not, the differences of sound level in bedrooms were below 1$\sim$10dBA. To give the minimum sound level 60dBA in bedrooms, the proper sound levels from alarm device installed in livingrooms were suggested using computer simulation.
