Conventional methods for reducing vibration in engineering designs (i.e. by stiffening or detuning) may be undesirable or inadequate in conditions where size or weight must be minimized or where complex vibration spectra exist. Alloys which combine high damping capacity with good mechanical properties can provide attractive technical and economic solutions to problems involving seismic, shock and vibration isolation. To meet these trends, we have developed a new high damping Fe-17%Mn alloys. Also, the alloy has advantages of good mechanical properties and more economical than any other known damping alloys(1/4 times as cost of non-ferrous damping alloy). Thus, the high damping Fe-17%6Mn alloy can be widely applied to household appliances, automobiles, industrial facilities and power plant components with its excellent damping capacity(SDC, 30%) and mechanical property(T.S 700MPa). It is the purpose of this paper to introduce the characterization of the high damping Fe-17%Mn alloy and the results of retrofit several such applications.

We develop a business model for facade cleaning service robot system that provides service by meeting the market needs and environments. The size of the facade cleaning market is growing rapidly in recent years due to the increasing importance of indoor space and the modern trend of building construction methods. Also, maintenance of exterior appearance of buildings has become an important factor in residential and commercial facilities. Though demand for facade cleaning services is rising, the current facade cleaning services are performed dangerously in a human labor-dependent way. It is desirable that the existing human resource service should be replaced with robot-based services. In addition, quantitative analysis of rental pricing model was conducted to propose effective launch of products to the market. The robot system is economically attractive from the consumer's point of view. When the actual facade cleaning robot service is released, it is expected that verification of the business models and more accurate analysis with specific figures can be performed.
This paper presents a comprehensive scheme for assessing the importance of multiple microgrids (MGs) network that includes distributed energy resources (DERs), renewable energy systems (RESs), and energy storage system (ESS) facilities. Due to the uncertainty of severe weather, large-scale cascading failures are inevitable in energy networks. making the assessment of the structural vulnerability of the energy network an attractive research theme. This attention has led to the identification of the importance of measuring energy nodes. In multiple MG networks, the energy nodes are regarded as one MG. This paper presents a modified PageRank algorithm to assess the importance of MGs that include multiple DERs and ESS. With the importance rank order list of the multiple MG networks, the core MG (or node) of power production and consumption can be identified. Identifying such an MG is useful in preventing cascading failures by distributing the concentration on the core node, while increasing the effective link connection of the energy flow and energy trade. This scheme can be applied to identify the most profitable MG in the energy trade market so that the deployment operation of the MG connection can be decided to increase the effectiveness of energy usages. By identifying the important MG nodes in the network, it can help improve the resilience and robustness of the power grid system against large-scale cascading failures and other unexpected events. The proposed algorithm can point out which MG node is important in the MGs power grid network and thus, it could prevent the cascading failure by distributing the important MG node's role to other MG nodes.
The purpose of this study is to explore social supports for elderly housing and their residential lives in small cities along rural counties of the United States and Canada, and suggest future implications for age-concentrated rural villages in Korea. In this study, five small and medium cities in non-metropolitan counties of California and Ontario province were visited and elderly residents and service experts were interviewed about their perceptions of community integrated social support networks for senior residences. The senior housing complexes were built due to influx of both metropolitan and rural residents seeking warm localities, traffic connections, business purposes in active production areas. and leisure attractions. There are five main social support networks for senior housing issues in these areas. First, the areas are claimed for senior zones and accordingly health industries are encouraged by local authorities. Second, the community is homogeneously constructed as a senior friendly environment and include features such as an RV park and mobile cottages. Third, senior-helping seniors are offered active work through golf-cluster active retirement communities. Fourth, traditional theme production camps are mobilized by the elderly workers. Lastly, an information system is maintained for screening volunteers and for senior abuse prevention. On the other hand, residential lives are occasionally negatively influenced by unbalanced concentrations of elderly facilities such as nursing stations and funeral homes. For the future of Korean rural elderly policies, suggestions are made as follows: first, an integrated urban and rural township that contains attractive places for early retiring people who seek a warm atmosphere in later life needs to be constructed. Second, an integrated model retirement village of urban and rural retirement life needs to be initiated as a measure of evaluating the adaptation process of movers in senior concentrated zones. Third, a cooperation system among governmental ministries needs to be formed with the long- term goal of establishing a traditional rural town of independent housing districts and medical facilities in rural areas. Fourth, productive and active lifestyles need to be maintained as the local community and government develop successful retirement rural villages, by limiting the expansion of nursing related facilities. Finally, generation integrated visiting welfare programs and services need to be further developed for the housing areas especially in the winter, when social integration and activity are relatively low.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, interest in outdoor leisure activities is growing. Among outdoor leisure activities, marine sports can be seen as having good conditions to enjoy in Korea. In the case of yachting among marine sports, a number of yacht experience programs have recently been operated centered on Gwanganli and Suyeong Bay in Busan. This yacht experience is an attractive tourism product that can be enjoyed casually, and can bring stress relief to many users. This study tried to verify the effect of the attractiveness of the yacht experience on the stress recovery based on the tourists' experiences using the yacht experience tour. In addition, we tried to verify the intention of revisiting the yacht experience or sharing it with others through SNS through this stress recovery. In addition, as a moderator variable, the difference between the MZ generation and other generations, which use SNS more actively than other generations, was presented and its significance was verified. The survey of this study was conducted online for tourists who experienced yacht experience in Busan. As a result of the analysis, among the attractive factors of the yacht experience, the program, landscape, facilities and service was found to have a significant influence on the users' stress recovery, and satisfaction through stress recovery had a significant effect on the intention to revisit and to share the SNS. In the verification of the moderating effect according to age, a generational difference in revisit intention between the MZ generation and other generations was confirmed. Through this study, it was suggested that various programs of yacht experience should be developed to induce users to revisit, and various marketing using SNS should be carried out.
The east coast area of Gangwon province in Korea is famous for natural beauty, many perfect sights and various kinds of tourist attractions. Especially beaches are one of the most attractive and clean tourist attractions in Gangwon province, when compared to the west and south coast of Korea, the natural environment is more prominent. But there are many problems concering the east coast beaches of Gangwon province, such as environmental disruption, collecting fees for offering services, crowdedness, lack of main convenient facilities, decrease of consumption, unseasonably cool temperatures etc. This study examined several problems as to the beach management of Gangwon province that has been suggested over several years. Finally, the author suggested several improvements to solve the problems as mentioned above.
Most of Korean broiler farms are constructed with vinyl houses. Such types of broiler farms might be cheaper in terms of cost, but poor in terms of environment condition. According to enlargement of broiler farm size, high value production systems or automatic facilities are introduced in this field. However, investment may not always guarantee the profit of the management. Therefore, it is necessary to undertake the investment analysis before decision making for the investment. Under the assumption that 870 Pyoung(≒$3.3㎡) of a broiler farm within 1,740 Pyoung(≒3.3㎡) of land is built with the producing capacity of 50,000 heads of chicken in a time. The total investment is calculated to be 600 million won(1,000 won≒$1.1), and out of them 58.1% is provided by the owner, 31.6% from the government loan, 5.8% from government subsidy, and 5.3% from other agencies or banks. The expected profit of the broiler farm is 64.6 million won(1,000 won≒$1.1) per year. The IRR calculated is 0.0808 which means that the rate to profit of this project would be 8.1%. This also means that for this investment the interest rate of the capital provided should be less than 8.1% per year. Considering that the current opportunity cost of the own capital is 8.5% this project is not so attractive for those who is going to build broiler farms mainly with their own capital. In other words this project would not be profitable, unless the average interest rate of the loans provided for this project is less than 8.1% per year.

Some alloys with a combination of high damping capacity and good mechanical properties can provide attractive techanical and economical solutions to problems involving seismic, shock and vibration isolation. Although several non ferrous damping alloys have been developed, none of those materials are applied in any industrial factor due largely to high production cost. To meet these requirement, we have developed a new Fe-Mn high damping alloy. In previous studies, we have reported that an Fe-17%Mn alloy exhibits the highest damping capacity(Specific Damping Capacity:SDC, 30%) among Fe-Mn binary system, and proposed that the boundaries of various types such as $\varepsilon$-martensite variant boundaries, stacking faults in $\varepsilon$-martensite, stacking faults in austenitic and ${\gamma}$$\gamma /\varepsilon$ interfaces give rise to a high damping capacity. The Fe-17%Mn alloy also has advantages of good mechanical properties(T.S. 70 kg/nm$^2$ and low cost over other damping alloys(1/4 times the cost of non-ferrous damping alloy). Thus, the Fe-17%Mn high damping alloy can be widely applied to household appliances, automobiles, industrial facilities and power plant components. In this paper, the overall properties of the Fe-17%Mn high damping alloy is introduced, and its applicability to containment spray pump in the power plant is discussed.
Clusters of workstations (COW) are becoming an attractive option for parallel scientific computing, a field formerly reserved to the MPPs, because their cost-performance ratio is usuallybetter than that of comparable MPPS, and their hardware and software can be easily enhanced to thelatest generations. In this paper we present the design and implementation of our runtime library forclusters of workstations, called "Collective I/O Clustering". The library provides a friendlyprogramming model for the I/O of irregular applications on clusters of workstations, being completelyintegrated with the underlying communication and I/O system. In the collective I/O clustering, two I/Oconfigurations are possible. In the first I/O configuration, all processors allocated can act as I/Oservers as well as compute nodes. In the second I/O configuration, only a subset of processors canact as I/O servers, The compression and software caching facilities have been incorporated into thecollective 1/0 clustering to optimize the communication and I/O costs. All the performance results wereobtained on the IBM-SP machine, located at Argonne National Labs.

Occupant footfalls are often the most critical source of floor vibration on upper floors of buildings. Floor motions can degrade the performance of imaging equipment, disrupt sensitive research equipment, and cause discomfort for the occupants. It is essential that low-vibration environments be provided for functionality of sensitive spaces on floors above grade. This requires a sufficiently stiff and massive floor structure that effectively resists the forces exerted from user traffic. Over the past 25 years, generic vibration limits have been developed, which provide frequency dependent sensitivities for wide classes of equipment, and are used extensively in lab design for healthcare and research facilities. The same basis for these curves can be used to quantify acceptable limits of vibration for human comfort, depending on the intended occupancy of the space. When available, manufacturer's vibration criteria for sensitive equipment are expressed in units of acceleration, velocity or displacement and can be specified as zero-to-peak, peak-to-peak, or root-mean-square (rms) with varying frequency ranges and resolutions. Several approaches to prediction of floor vibrations are currently applied in practice. Each method is traceable to fundamental structural dynamics, differing only in the level of complexity assumed for the system response, and the required information for use as model inputs. Three commonly used models are described, as well as key features they possess that make them attractive to use for various applications. A case study is presented of a tall building which has fitness areas on two of the upper floors. The analysis predicted that the motions experienced would be within the given criteria, but showed that if the floor had been more flexible, the potential exists for a locked-in resonance response which could have been felt over large portions of the building.
