Factors Influencing Care Behavior of Certified Care Assistants for Older Adults with Dementia

  • Purpose: Korea is one of the most rapidly aging countries, accompanied by an increasing number of older adults with dementia. Certified-care-assistants are the primary care workers for these older adults. This cross-sectional descriptive study compared the factors influencing care behaviors among Korean and non-Korean certified-care-assistants in Korea. Methods: Participants, 113 Korean certified-care-assistants and 71 non-Korean certified-care-assistants, completed a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to assess dementia knowledge, attitude and care behaviors toward older adults with dementia. To determine the differences in these two groups, t-test was used. A stepwise multiple regression was performed to identify factors related to care behavior. Results: Significant differences in dementia knowledge, attitude and care behavior toward older adults with dementia emerged between Korean and non-Korean certified-care-assistants. Factors influencing care behavior varied by group. Dementia knowledge and education level were the significant factors of care behaviors in Korean certified-care-assistants, whereas attitude toward older adults with dementia was the significant factor in non-Korean certified-care-assistants. Conclusion: Findings indicate that different factors influence the care behavior of two groups. These findings can be utilized to develop certified-care-assistants' training curriculum that needs to be tailored by nationality to improve the quality of care for older adults with dementia.

특수건강진단에 대한 근로자의 인식과 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Workers' Perception and Attitude Toward Special Periodic Health Screening Test)

  • 특수건강진단에 대한 근로자들의 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 조사하기 위해 대구지역의 29개 사업장에서 특수건강진단 수검근로자들에게 자기기입식 설문조사를 실시하여 그중 779명을 대상으로 하여 분석하였다. 건강믿음모형을 일부 변형하여, 특수건강진단에의 자발적 수검 여부와 필요성 인지를 최종적인 종속변수로 한 새로운 연구모형을 만들어서 이들에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분석하였다. 특수건강진단에 대한 필요성 인지율은 77.2%, 자발적 수검율은 79.2%로 나타났다. 자발적 수검 여부에는 특수건강진단에 대한 필요성 인지, 유익성, 행동계기가 주요 영향요인으로 제시되었으며, 특수건강진단에 대한 필요성 인지에는 직업병에 대한 감수성 및 심각성, 특수건강진단에 대한 지식, 회사의 지지도가 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 직업병에 대한 감수성 및 심각성에는 성, 연령, 학력, 직업경력, 보건교육경험이, 특수건강진단에 대한 지식에는 연령, 학력, 직업경력, 질병통제위가, 특수건강진단에 대한 유익성에는 연령, 질병통제위, 건강자부심, 보건교육경험이 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다. 이러한 결과로 미루어 볼 때 특수건강진단에 대한 자발적 수검률과 필요성 인지율을 높이기 위해서는, 직업병 판정을 받은 사업장에서는 그 사실을 널리 알려 직업병에 대한 경각심을 높여야 하며, 특수건강진단의 결과를 근로자 본인에게 바로 통보하여야 하고, 회사의 적극성을 높이기 위해 회사간부 대상의 홍보 및 교육 프로그램이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 보건교육 경험이 특수건강진단에 대한 지식과 유익성, 직업병에 대한 감수성 및 심각성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 보아, 앞으로의 보건교육은 여성, 저연령, 저학력, 저경력자 위주로 이루어져야 하고, 교육 실시 횟수를 늘이고 직업관련 내용을 더 많이 포함하여야 할 것으로 생각된다. 더불어 특수건강진단의 결과로 인해 근로자 본인에게 불이익이 돌아가지 않도록 배려되어야 할 것이다.

사회복지관 간호사와 사회복지사가 인식하는 사회복지관 간호사의 역할 (A Study on a Role of a Nurse for the Community Welfare Center Being Recognized by Nurses for the Community Welfare Center and Social Workers)

  • As this study is the descriptive research study that tries to present the basic data aiming to establish a role of nurses for the Community Welfare Center, by surveying the role expectation and the degree of role performance towards nurses for the Community Welfare Center that nurses for the Community Welfare Center and social workers recognize, it carried out the Questionnaire research targeting nurses who are working for the Community Welfare Center located in Seoul and social workers of institutions where nurses are working, and then analyzed the results, and the study results are as follows. Both the group of nurses and the group of social workers were highly recognizing the necessity and the importance of nurses for the Community Welfare Center, and expected that more effective services will be possible to be offered by means of that nurses do work for the Community Welfare Center. However, compared to the degree that social workers recognize a nurses specialty, the nurses thought that their specialty is not acknowledged in the Community Welfare Center, and even in case of duty friction between groups being felt while social workers and nurses are working together, nurses were experiencing further friction of duties. While nurses are well recognizing their roles, they are statistically and significantly recognizing the degree of role performance lower than expected, thus the difference between the role expectation and the role performance could be seen. Also, the group of nurses showed the higher role expectation towards nurses than the group of social workers, and in relation to roles of a counselor, referral resource, an advocator, an educator, a case manager, a and a coordinator, the degree of role expectation by the group of nurses is statistically and significantly higher than the group of social workers, thus it could be seen that there is difference in the expectation degree between both groups, as to a role of nurses for the Community Welfare Center. In particular, as to a role of universally medical services, the expectations between nurses and social workers showed mutual agreement, but in relation to a role of nurses for community in the more expanded sphere, social workers did not show a receptive attitude, thus it was indicating that there exists an element of role conflict. In relation to the role performance of nurses for the Community Welfare Center, nurses were feeling the disorder degree more than social workers, in all items of disorder factors, and there was difference in recognition between nurses and social workers, as to the priority of disorder factors. Because of, through this study, having been found the difference in recognition of role expectation, the degree of role performance, and a disorder factor between nurses and social workers, as to the nurses for the Community Welfare Center, it is required a study with a more diversified method on a role of nurses for the Community Welfare Center.

미래융합인재 핵심역량에 대한 유통업 영업사원의 교육요구도 분석 (Educational Needs of Distribution Company Salespeople in Core Competencies for Convergence)

  • Purpose - The aim of this study was to analyze the educational needs of distribution company salespeople in core competencies for convergence and their general perception of convergence education. Furthermore, this study provides basic data on core competencies for convergence needed by them. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted on 104 distribution company salespeople who worked near Seoul, Korea to analyze the perceptions of their educational needs in core competencies for convergence education, according to their socio-demographic characteristics. The socio-demographic characteristics were gender, age, workplace size, education background, work experience and business category. The questionnaire consisted of demographic factors (7 questions), general perception of convergence education (5 questions), perception of importance of core competency for distribution company salespeople (9 questions), and current perception of distribution company salespeople on core competency of convergence workers (9 questions). Park et al.(2014)'s categorization of convergence core competencies was used: Cognitive convergence (creative thinking, critical thinking and understanding of convergence knowledge), convergence performance (problem solving, communications, collaboration and application of convergence tools) and attitude toward convergence (empathy and responsibility). Data was collected through an independent sample of t-tests and a one-way analysis of variance and the Borich Needs Assessment Model was used to identify the educational needs of distribution company salespeople in the core competencies of convergence education. Results- The results show that the subjects recognized the need for convergence education to be high among the general perceptions. The perception scores for workers of different backgrounds only varied according to the size of the business. Moreover, the results of the educational needs analysis and the ranks of the required core competencies of convergence workers by the subjects were as follows: 1. convergence knowledge understanding competency, 2. creative thinking competency, 3. convergence tool application competency, 3. communications competency, 4. problem solving competency, 5. collaboration competency, 6. critical thinking competency, 7. empathy competency, 8. responsibility competency. Conclusions - This study highlights the necessity of developing university curriculum that can nurture the core competencies of conversion education reflecting distribution company salespeople's requests as well as cultivating qualified convergence workers required by distribution company workers.

Cross Sectional Survey on Association between Alcohol, Betel-Nut, Cigarette Consumption and Health Promoting Behavior of Industrial Workers in Ghaziabad

  • Background: The work force in industries are at risk of developing unduly high rates of health and behaviour related problems including abuse of alcohol, betel nut and cigarette (alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption). This study describes the relationships between alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption and health promoting behaviour among industrial workers. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional survey was conducted on workers in various industries of Ghaziabad city with concerned authority permission. A sample size of 732 workers was calculated based on pilot study. Through Simple random sampling 732 workers in 20 to 50 years age group with informed consent were interviewed through structured, pretested, validated questionnaire in vernacular language by one calibrated investigator. Data on socio demography, alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption pattern and health behaviour were collected. The association between health promoting behaviour and alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption was analysed by Logistic regression and Chi-square test through SPSS 16 at p<0.05 and 95%CI as significant. Results: Total prevalence of alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption in study population was 88%. The prevalence of individual alcohol, betel nut and cigarette consumption were 82%, 68% and 79% respectively. Combined alcohol, betel nut and cigarette prevalence in study population was 58%. Alcohol and cigarette users were significantly higher (p<0.001) in 30 to 40 years age group with lower level of education having poor attitude towards health promoting behaviour, poor oral hygiene practices and rare indulgence in regular physical exercise. Conclusions: This study stimulate further research on exploring methods to prevent initiation of health risk behaviour and promote healthy behaviour with cessation help for the current alcohol, betel nut and cigarette users.

의료기관 방사선종사자의 방사선안전관리에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행위와 자기효능감 간의 관련성 (Relationship between Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior, and Self-Efficacy on the Radiation Safety Management of Radiation Workers in Medical Institutions)

  • 의료기관 방사선안전관리는 방사선 피폭에 의한 장해발생을 방지하기 위해 전 국민적 차원에서 필요한 부분이다. 의료기관 방사선안전관리의 주도자로 볼 수 있는 방사선종사자를 대상으로 교육학적 접근인 방사선안전관리에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행위와 행위에 영향을 미치는 주요변수인 자기효능감의 특성을 파악하고 변수간의 관련성을 분석하여 방사선안전관리 행위수준을 높이는데 필요한 근거자료를 제공하고자 국내의 종합병원, 대학병원, 병원, 의원,보건소 등에 근무하는 방사선종사자 1,200명을 대상으로 2006년 7월 23일부터 42일간 설문조사를 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 1. 방사선 안전관리에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행위의 평균점수는 각각 $75.76{\pm}11.20$점, $90.55{\pm}8.59$점, $80.58{\pm}11.70$점으로 나타났다. 자기효능감의 평균점수는 $73.55{\pm}9.82$으로 나타났다. 2. 방사선안전관리에 대한 지식수준은 남자, 기혼인 경우, 연령이 높을수록, 학력 수준이 높을수록, 경력이 많을수록 비교적 높은 것으로 나타났다. 방사선안전관리에 대한 태도수준은 의원이 낮았고, 대학병원이 높게 나타났다. 방사선안전관리에 대한 행위수준은 기혼, 종합병원인 경우, 연령이 높을수록, 학력 수준이 높을수록, 경력이 많을수록 높은 것으로 나타났다. 자기효능감 수준은 기혼, 종합병원인 경우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 3. 방사선안전관리에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행위와 자기효능감 간의 상관관계는 지식과 태도, 지식과 행위, 태도와 행위, 태도와 자기효능감, 행위와 자기효능감이 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 행위와 자기효능감과의 관계는 r = 0.482로 상관관계가 가장 강하였고 지식과 자기효능감은 상관관계를 나타내지 않았다.

사무공간 근무자의 행태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Clerk's Behavior at Business Office)

  • After the rapid growth of economics in South Korea 1960'1, the number of workers in the whole land in-creased day after day along with the growth of industry. As the growth of the third industry occurred quite rapid-ly, the rate of office workers went up high. Accordingly the business office has been changed the primary work-ing space and recognized the main space as much as the living space. As a result of conceptual change about working place, the business office has an important ef-fect on worker's liberal and psychological environment. In order to provide the office workers with the office work-ers with the suitable and convenient working environ-ment, Socio-psychological factors were first considered at the first stage of construction planning. In this paper, I would understand both how office workers take up their attitudes of Socio-psychological point according to the office type and what they claim for their office environment. This understanding offers us fundamental data in office plan. This paper starting from this purpose got the following conclusions. *Office workers are violated their hearing privacies rather than their visual privacies. They are dissatisfied with ensuring their own spaces and satisfied with their nature of domain. *In the feeling of satisfaction by office type, they are on the whole satisfied with their hearing privacies, their visual privacies, their own space, and the nature of do-main in the closed type and mixed type offices. In open type offices, their visual privacy is often violated. *In the property by individual, men feel more violated their hearing privacies than women. In the personal spa-se and domain, women are less stabilized psycholo-gically than men. *The analysis of the attitude by position, a man of po-sition is more violated his hearing privacy and does not understand each other. The common run of workers are violated their visual privacies and the nature of separa-tion.

건설근로자의 개인적 특성에 맞는 안전교육 모델 (A Model for Safety Education Fit for Individual Personality of Construction Worker)

  • 안전지식 함양, 안전기능 체득, 안전태도 향상을 목표로 하는 안전교육은 별다른 제한 없이 효율적으로 사용될 수 있는 중요한 안전대책일 뿐만 아니라 재해를 감소시키기 위한 수단 중에 제일 큰 우선도를 갖는다. 그러나 건설현장에서의 안전교육은 매우 형식에 치우쳐 교육을 위한 교육일 뿐이며 근로자들에게 안전교육 시간은 지루하고 따분한 시간일 뿐이다. 이러한 이유는 자기와 상관없는 교육내용과 개인적 특성을 무시한 일괄교육에서 기인하며 이는 더 이상 근로자의 자발적 참여를 유도하지 못한다. 따라서 건설근로자들의 개인적 특성에 맞는 다양한 안전교육 모델 개발이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 건설근로자의 개인적 특성에 맞는 안전교육 모델을 구축하기 위해 건설현장에서 종사하는 근로자를 대상으로 설문조사와 통계분석을 실시하여 개인적 특성에 맞는 안전교육 모델을 제시하였다.

사회복지사의 복지태도 영향 요인: 서울지역을 중심으로 (Impacts of Factors of Welfare Attitude for Social Workers in Seoul)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 사회복지사의 복지태도에 대한 경향성과 결정요인으로서 사회화, 자기이해, 이데올로기 요인과 복지태도의 인과적 관계를 실증적으로 검증함으로서, 사회복지사의 친복지적 태도 강화를 위한 정책적 방안을 제언하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울지역에 소재한 복지대상별 사회복지시설을 무작위로 균등 할당하여, 406명의 사회복지사를 대상으로 복지태도를 측정하였으며, 자료 분석은 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, 상관분석, 그리고 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 서울지역 사회복지사의 복지태도에 대한 경향성은 복지실천의지와 복지책임주체의 태도가 일치하는 일관적인 태도를 보였다. 둘째, 서울지역 사회복지사의 복지태도를 설명하는 결정요인으로서 이데로올로기 요인의 설명력이 사회화 요인과 자기이해 요인보다 상대적으로 높게 나타나, 복지의 규범과 가치 특성인 분배지향적인 평등주의 이념이 긍정적인 복지태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결론을 토대로, 사회복지사의 친복지적 태도를 강화하기 위해 분배지향성을 바탕으로 사회통합 분위기를 조성하고 이를 구현하기 위한 합리적인 복지재정정책 수립의 필요성 등을 제언하였다.

보건기관(保健機關)의 방문보건사업(訪問保健事業) 담당인력(擔當人力)들의 사업(事業)에 대한 태도(態度) 견해(見解)와 환자관리(患者管理) 양상(樣相) (Attitude and Management Contents of Health Workers Engaged in Visiting Health Service)

  • This study was conducted to use the feedback of health personnel to improve the Visiting Health Service. The data was collected from 471 Home Health Workers serving 24 local health organizations in the Kyung-Pook province. 62.5% of the respondents were men under thirty-nine years of age. 92.8% of the respondents are married. 47.1% had degrees from junior colleges. It was ascertained 52.7% of the workers visited their patients six to twelve times within a six month period. And one to three patients were visited per day by one worker. Workers of older age, higher job position, and more experience were more positive in their feedback about the program. In addition, local health center employees, including nurses, were more positive about the program. Younger workers with a higher level of education, less experience, and lower job position had more insight into the problems of the program. Deeper insight into these problems led to a more negative conception of the program. Older workers with higher ranking jobs were found to be most competent. in their jobs. Workers at the main health center were assessed higher than the workers at the health sub-center or the primary health post. In addison nurses at all centers were found to be slightly more competent than the nurses' aide. The primary health post established the highest degree of patient satisfaction. It was discovered that the more positive the workers felt about the program, the higher their patient satisfaction feedback. There was a positive correlation between management assessment and patient satisfaction. This means that better program management was found to produce higher patient satisfaction. Workers feel being more educated about patient management would lead to better service. However, they take no action to produce these results. Where the problems of the system are most commented upon, the need for further education is greatest. Through multiple regression analyses it is apparent that the assessment of patient management is the greatest variable affecting patient satisfaction of patients is dependent on the management by the visiting health worker. Therefore, the development of the visiting health program is highly dependant on the feedback of those workers with a negative conception of the program. So the development of programs, motivation, education and training must be established. These works would lead to active participation by visiting health workers in the improvement of the Visiting health program.
