  • The purpose of this study was to identify the correlations and influence factors of knowledge, attitude, and practice of soldiers on hand washing. This is expected to be basis for hand washing and health education in the army. Total of 420 soldiers were randomly selected and surveyed. The collected data were analyzed using beta regression model through R and SAS program. As a result, there was a statistically significant correlation among knowledge, attitude and practice of hand washing, and the degree of health education was analyzed as having no effect on knowledge, attitude and practice. However, the exposure degree of related health promotional materials had significant effect on them. Therefore, in order to promote the practice of hand washing in the army, continuous exposure of the publicity materials is more effective than the health education. It can be also positively influenced all on knowledge, attitude and practice hand washing.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore factors inducing dental hygiene student's activeness during clinical practice. A conceptual study was conducted for dental hygiene students who participated in the clinical practice for the first semester of 2019. The focus question was, 'What factors induced activeness during clinical practice?', a total of 33 statements were drawn by analyzing the responses. Results of multidimensional scale analysis and cluster analysis, there are six factors that induce activeness 'provide information on clinical practice', 'possibility to participate in clinical practice', 'possibility of adaptation', 'attitude of educator', 'patience of educator', and 'attitude toward trainees'. Among them, the most factor inducing activeness was the 'possibility to participate in practice'. The four items inducing activeness were 'provide a training manual', 'can be observed closely,' 'practice for a sufficient period', and 'the educator's attitude is kind'. The results of this study could be used as basic data to enhance the clinical practice effect of dental hygiene students.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of knowledge about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control on behavioral intentions to practice COVID-19 preventive behaviors using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 519 restaurant customers' responses was collected in this study through an online self-administered questionnaire. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed on socio-demographic factors. One-way analysis of variance and t-test were conducted to determine differences in the constructs from the TPB according to age and sex. The hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). RESULTS: SEM revealed the positive effect of knowledge about COVID-19 on attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in restaurants. Attitude, subjective norm, behavior intention, and knowledge positively affected COVID-19 preventive behavior intentions in restaurants. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study confirmed that the TPB is helpful in elucidating the determinants of consumers' intention to practice COVID-19 preventive behavior in restaurants. These findings can help policy makers and professionals provide material for further public health interventions and inform them about awareness-raising, guidelines, and health education programs.
